I'm probably taking a journalism course in high school next year, so, to practice, I want to start a season log.

KEEPING THEIR COOL: Valverde Blows Save, But Astros Win In 12 Anyway

Jose Valverde got very, very lucky on Monday against the Padres. That is, he preformed poorly, blowing a one-run lead and sending the game into extra innings. However, he did leave Kevin Kouzmanoff on second base, a runner that could have come back to haunt his nightmares. Instead, he left the game with a blown save and a ballooning ERA, but with the Astros still in the game. Three innings later, Lance Berkman would hit a home run to dead-center in PETCO Park to give Houston a lead, and Brocail would come on and close the door.

The scoring started in the bottom of the third. Roy Oswalt would allow an RBI triple to Giles. However, in the top of the fourth, Ausmus and Perez sent RBI hits to the outfield, making the score 2-1. The Kouzmanoff double and the Berkman home run off Meredith would finish the scoring in the game.

In the top of the fifth inning, Lee would record his second hit of the game and the 1,500th of his career. Both benches showed respect for Lee, and the Padres fans gave him a standing ovation. Teammate Ausmus has 1,491 career hits, and he is expected to hit the milestone in the coming weeks.

After going 5-6 with the huge home run in the 12th inning, Lance Berkman was announced as the game's co-MVP, along with Brocail, who came in in the 12th inning to protect a one-run lead. Roy Oswalt, the Houston starter, went 8 innings and fanned 5 Padres without picking up a desicion. Jake Peavy also went 8 innings, but he did not record a single strikeout in the game.

Where did you get those images? I used to use them for logs, but can't find them anymore. :(

Go to Google Images. Type in the name of the team, e.g. "Milwaukee Brewers." Go to size on the left side. Click "Exactly..." Set it to 80x60.

You're welcome.

Huge problem here, though--I can't play a full game without having a "The game disc could not be read" error in the middle. This is after my Wii has been making loud whirring noises for months. Any fixes?

Just bring it in to Gamestop, if they can fix it they will. Waaaaaaay cheaper than buying a new one.

Well, as it turns out, I had to buy a refurbished Wii and lost my one game of save data (and my Success mode guys again.) But hey--at least I have a Wii that works! ;)

I'll restart this tonight, probably. I have no school tomorrow on account of strep throat, so I have lots of playtime.
