So i started to play with an expansion team, and I'd like some advise on how best to improve my pitchers. My pitchers have various needs, from increasing stamina to pitch speed to the breaking pitch level. I decided to focus on improving breaking pitches for now. I want to explain why and get your feedback.

I think the most important pieces to a pitchers success is pitch speed and breaking pitch level. After all, those are the aspects that prevent a hitter from making solid contact. That's why I am initially ignoring stamina (that and the fact that I've been "blessed" with 2 "b" and several "c" stamina pitchers.

Pitch speed seems to take the longest to noticeably improve. It seems to take forever to go up 1 mph. Thus, my plan is to Deal with my current mph ratings as best I can until I build up enough points to buy the highest level practice speed ball.

Breaking pitch level seems to improve as effectively and quickly as everything else, so my plan to have my pitchers practice that until I can buy the ball that improves pitch speed to the max.

Your thoughts on whether theres a better idea?

I'd say keep at it, I usually improve the breaking balls as well, nasty stuff from a pitcher is always good.

Thanks. I got lucky and just drafted a catcher with a "C" arm strength, so that should help keep runners honest. So many of my pitchers through in the low 80s that my solid starting catcher (EEEDDD) had only thrown out 3 out of 20 base stealers, some of whom only had D speed!

Maybe it's a stretch to say I "got lucky" - I ran through about a dozen drafts before sticking with this guy!
