Post subject:  Round Rock Reapers - Building Something from Nothing

Two new teams have been added to the MLB:

The Round Rock Reapers (For no apparent reason)
and
The Matsuyama Penguins (Due to large cash bribes)

The Reapers have been put into the fairly weak AL West while the Penguins have been placed in the always competitive AL East.

Both teams have gathered a team mostly made up of of fairly unremarkable prospects from their area. However, the Reapers have managed to gather a couple notable players, the German catching prospect Ralph Siegmund, and a pitcher with a great fastball, only known as Fireballer.

An interview was conducted with the Reapers general manager:
"I'm just as surprised as anyone that I was given an opportunity to have my own MLB team, I wrote a letter asking for one, I really did not expect them to let me have one just because of that, I was mostly joking. Of course when they told me I could have a team, I wasn't going to pass up an opportunity like that. I don't really have a lot of money, but I did what I could. I bought the local ballpark formerly just used by kids for their games. And looked for promising players willing to play for cheap."
"You mentioned buying the local ballpark, what kind of ballpark is it and how will it effect games?"
"Well, the ballpark is small, pretty much the opposite of the one the Penguins bought, there's no flashing lights or "Lucky Pocket", but it works. I expect there will be a lot of home runs hit in the park, I have seen an 11 year old hit a home run to center field here before, so..."
"Well, that's all the time I have, goodbye."

Will the team work out as terribly as it logically should, or will it miraculously succeed somehow? Only time will tell, unless you believe in psychics, and if you do... Good luck with that..

The Owner/GM of the Reapers sent a message out to the press, seemingly with no prompt whatsoever:
"Some of the concerns we've been having about the team are about Siegmund. His swing seems to lift the ball too high and he doesn't hit the ball far enough. We've talked to him about it, he says a doctor he met in the park must have somehow messed it up with his experimental treatments. I've decided not to press the subject, but I have told him to work on his power, even though, as I've said before, an 11 year old can hit home runs in our park, he will need power for road games. I bought some equipment for him from some guy I met in an alley, he assured me it was quality equipment, and I saw it was cheap, so I took advantage. I've told Fireballer to work on his control, it's good, but it could be better, and if he can only throw a fastball in this league, he better be able to locate it. As for everyone else on the team, well, I still don't know all their names yet, it'll take a while."

A scouting report revealed the following information about the team's average abilities:

Top Speed: 88.8
Control: 111.5
Stamina: 93.6
(Overall Brk Ball Count: 4.9, I'm not sure what this one means, can anyone let me know?)

Trajectory: 1.9
Contact: 5.5
Power: 88.6
Run Speed: 5.7
Arm Strength: 6.4
Fielding: 7.1

I was going to upload videos for the important games, but YouTube decided it didn't want me doing that.

There, splitting it into multiple videos was a last resort, but now that I know it's the only option future games I record hopefully shouldn't be as annoying to get up.

Maybe if my videos are watched enough I can get the time limit removed on that account and upload the games fully, so, even if you don't really feel like watching them you should at least click some of them.

I'll only be doing the videos for important games, so far, for important games I've thought of the Season Opener, All Star Game, and playoffs, any other games that may be considered important enough?

Also, I will do game summaries of games with videos, they will just go up later to encourage people to watch the video first, especially if I eventually wind up in an elimination playoff game. This one specifically may take longer because I've exhausted myself trying to get the video up and I'm almost sick of thinking about that game at this point.

Also, I'm not sure, but future videos may be in better quality, I did put this one through a lot of programs trying to get it to work.

And, on a final note, any frames dropped are the fault of the recording device, there's nothing I can do about them.

Reapers edge Angels 2-1 in Season Opener:
Rottino pitched a great game for the Reapers in the season opener, pitching 7 innings allowing 7 hits but only allowing 1 run, unearned because of an error by Zuniga in the 2nd inning. Lackey had a good game for the Angels, just not good enough, as he allowed 7 hits and 1 run in 7 innings, he wound up with the no decision. The Reapers were able to scratch out runs in innings 6 and 10, runs were driven in by Brewer and Barker, and scored by Siegmund and Neu, respectively. Gettis had the win and Laya had the save for the Reapers. Siegmund was 2-5 with 3 strikeouts. Fireballer, who loaded the bases in the 8th inning without allowing a run, was reached for comment.
"My Fastball really wasn't working today, I was only throwing around 94 and 95, you know my number, 91? That's the speed I used to be able to throw in Little League. Hopefully once I get over my nerves, this was my first professional game after all, I'll get my speed back up. I was lucky not to blow the game there."

Some news for the Reapers, the shortstop, Dawley, has been lightly injured, he's still okay to play, but the managers are staying on the safe side and will be giving him some time off.

Rottino, supposed to start for the home opener against the Angels has let the team know that he's still tired from his last start. Middle reliever McDade will be getting the start instead.

Reapers lose 6-3 in home opener:
McDade was given an opportunity to start a game, he wasted no time in proving himself unfit as a starter, allowing 4 runs in the first inning, including a 2 run home run by Kotchman, and another 2 runs in the 4th, he pitched 6 innings and walked away with a deserved loss. Apart from a 3 run 4th inning, Santana dominated the Reapers, the Reapers tendency to swing at everything combined with dominating pitching and a few generous calls amount to 16 strikeouts in 7 innings for Santana, if he didn't load the bases with nobody out in the 7th inning he might have gone longer, even though he did get out of it by himself without allowing a run, he got the win. Rodriguez got the save for the Angels. Siegmund was 2-5 with a double off the center field wall in the 2nd inning, he lined out with the bases loaded and struck out looking to end the game.
