BREAKING NEWS: BLOCKBUSTER DEAL APPROVED BOSTON--After going 1-1 in the Tokyo Series against Oakland, the Boston Red Sox have dealt Matsuzaka and Lugo to the New York Yankees for Jeter and Wang. All parties involved have declined to comment at this time. Much more news to come, but for now, it seems like things are about to get very interesting in New England... (At this time, I would prefer not to do agents, but I do need someone as my bench coach. The bench coach helps with management and trade decisions, even though I do get the final say after all. Applications MUST be sent via PM. I'll decide the lucky person...well, whenever the heck I feel like it.) |

RED SOX (1-1) vs ATHLETICS (1-1) With Jeterian Presence, A's Go Lights Out OAKLAND--Josh Beckett pitched a complete game, Derek Jeter went 1-4 with a sac fly in his first game in Red Sox, and the Sox scored 11 runs on 17 hits to win the game for Boston. A Denorfia solo shot in the eighth would cost Beckett the shutout, but that pitch was the only one that put a blemish on a sparkling night. Ortiz hit his second and third homers, while Manny hit his first. W: Beckett (2-0) L: DiNardo (0-1) HR: Denorfia (1); M.Ramirez (1), D.Ortiz (2, 3) |

You failed to mention what happened after you traded Jeter/Wang to the Red Sox for a pint-sized wife-beater and Hideki Irabu II. Did your Wii burst into flames? |

RED SOX (5-4) vs TIGERS (2-6) Sox Tie In Eigth, Win In 11th On Passed Ball BOSTON--After a double by Ramirez and a single by Big Papi, I.Rodriguez let the ball slip past him and couldn't recover the passed ball in time to stop Mannywood at the plate. Manny's heads-up baserunning--and Papi's 3 RBIs--would be worth nothing if the bullpen hadn't stepped up from the sixth inning on, however. After Wakefield's suboptimal outing (5 runs in as many innings) the bullpen shut down the Tigers long enough for the Red Sox to make up a 3-run deficit. Ortiz hit 2 homers in the game. He now stands at 7 shots in 10 games, leading the AL and tied for first in all of MLB. W:Okajima (1-0) L:Zumaya (0-1) HR: D.Ortiz (6; 7) |
