Listen to "I Came To Play" by Downstait, the OFFICIAL song of the Pittsburgh Pirates!

OPENING DAY 2008: PIRATES (Maholm, 0-0) @ BRAVES (Glavine, 0-0)

Maholm Gives Up 9, Paulino Hurt As Pirates Lose By 10

ATLANTA-Paul Maholm gave up 6 runs in the first inning as a prelude to the awful day ahead, with a poor showing from the Pirates on Opening Day. The Pirates scored three runs in the fifth inning, but that would be their only tallies of the game. Tom Glavine pitched a complete game and got the win. Ronnie Paulino hurt himself after running into a wall, but will not miss playing time. After Doumit was used as a pinch hitter in the seventh, Doug Mientkievicz played catcher for the bottom of the eighth, and did a notably good job.

F: 13-3 ATL
W: Glavine (1-0)
L: Maholm (0-1)
HR: K.Johnson (1)

Well, I simmed the whole season, because we pretty much lost.

Zach Duke was our All-Star representative. The NL lost, 16-11. Guess we'll have to try again next year.

The Brewers won the NL Central by a landslide. We finished the season behind 11 games and in fifth place.

The Mets beat the White Sox in the World Series, 4 games to 1.

Despite our awful season, Zach Duke won the Cy Young award. Ronnie Paulino won a Gold Glove behind the plate.

Wow, nice signings. With Hudson, Wilson, and Teixeira in the infield, you'll have excellent defense. Where does Sanchez play though?

Short. Eckstein is a backup. I'll probably convert him to CF.
