Just started playing a season as the Orioles with the default rosters last night. I simmed the first two months and, buried in the standings, decided to improve my catcher situation for the following season. While searching for trade targets I remembered you can teach any player a new position during the off-season, hence my new catcher . . . Adam Dunn. For whatever reason, Dunn has a 14 ARM and decent ERES to go with his mammoth bat. In other words, Mike Piazza with a Benito Santiago arm.

Now I'm curious to know what other players, based on randomly high stats, are ripe for a position change. I know others here have successfully turned Mark Teixeira (decent SPD, 14 ARM, great FLD) and James Loney (14 SPD) into stud OF's. Who else?

Carl Crawford: Very useful in the infield. Lefty throw doesn't matter in Power Pros. SS/2B

Vlad Guererro: basically Adam Dunn but better. C/3B

Chris Snyder: perhaps a bit too slow but 3B/RF

Curtis Granderson: Poor arm doesn't matter at 1B/2B

That's all I can think of off the top of my head

2B Kelly Johnson is another guy whose ARM (14) and plus bat translates well to catcher.

Ryan Howard has pretty strong arm I believe. I had him as a third baseman in one of my seasons.

Jason Bay and Mike Cameron are outfielders that fit well in the middle infield with their A fld if your outfield is crowded (like mine usually is)

Jason Michaels of the Indians has solid all-around ratings and an A arm.
Juan Uribe also has an A arm. Makes a great utility player as he can already play 2B/SS
One of my favorite low-level players is Andy Marte, who has an F in almost everything except an A for arm :)

If I acquire them, I tend to convert Hanley Ramirez and Robinson Cano to 1B because of their poor arm.

Enrique Gonzalez in FA...I always try to get him during the draft to change him to a fielder in the offseason.

Really? Interesting . . . I sign him for pitching depth. He has decent stuff for his age and turns into a good reliever, but I have no clue what his other numbers are like.

I think he has like a D for contact and an E for power or something like that.

Another person I would consider position changing is Augie Ojeda of the D-Backs. Needs some breaking balls, but he might be a good NL Pitcher if you get him to learn a few breaking balls.

Whenever I do a Dream Draft, I always get Tim Stauffer of the Padres and turn him into an outfielder. He's a better outfielder than he is a pitcher!

Derrek Lee and Nick Johnson both have B arm strength, I believe. They could potentially move to 3B.
