Alright, so I'm kicking this thing off at the start of September. I've made quite a few moves, I'll summarize them, the standings, and stats below before starting. I have not played a game yet, but am going to play September and hopefully the playoffs.

Anibal Sanchez vs Brett Tomko

Esteban German sparked a 4 run 2nd for the Royals with a 2 RBI triple on a ball that was misplayed by rightfielder Ryan Sweeney. Mark Teahan had his own 2 run triple in the 4th inning to give the Royals a 6-0 lead. Jack Cust led off the 5th inning with a solo blast just inside the right field foul pole. The A's would score 4 more times this inning, twice off singles, once on a ground out and lastly on a passed ball bring the game within one run. Miguel Olivo hit a solo homerun off of Dallas Braden to make it 7-5. The comback couldn't be completed as Gary Majewski came in and nailed down the save for the Royals.

Brett Myers vs Gil Meche

The Royals started off the scoring in the 2nd with a 2 run inning sparked by bad defense. Top of the 3rd the Athletics would tie it courtesy of RBI singles from both Emil Brown and Daric Barton. Kurt Suzuki led the 4th inning off with a double to deep left. Felipe Lopez drove him in with an RBI single to take the lead 3-2. Keith Foulke came in and nailed down the save for his 11th on the year.

Thanks guys. I'm not sure if I'll continue it past this season, but it should definitely be a fun ride to the end of the year because the race is very close now.

Justin Duchscherer vs. Luke Hochevar

As was the case in the first two games, the Royals scored first again in the series finale on an RBI single from Miguel Olivo. Mark Grudzielanik gave the Royals a 2-0 lead in the second on an RBI groundout to second. For the 3rd staight inning, the Athletics lead the innning off with a double. This time they were able to take advantage of it, as Felipe Lopez singled in Rajai Davis from second. In the fourth, Rajai Davis hit a bloop single to center that scored Eric Chavez to tie the game at 2. Bottom 4, the Royals would score 3 runs to take a 5-2 lead. The Atlhetics would get one run back the next inning off an Eric Chavez RBI single. In the 8th inning, Rajai Davis blasted a hanging curveball out of the park for his 7th homerun of the season. Gary Majewski was able to come in and shut the A's down 1-2-3 in the 9th for his 4th save of the year.

Rich Harden vs. Daniel Cabrera

Luke Scott led off the scoring in the 1st inning with solo blast to right field, his 23rd of the year. Scary moment in the 2nd for the Athletics, Eric Chavez injured his shoulder sliding into 3rd base. Donnie Murphy came on to pinch run for him, and scored on a Rajai Davis base hit. The Athletics would take a 2-1 lead on a Kurt Suzuki RBI single. In the 3rd, Luke Scott hit a hard grounder just out of the reach of the diving Chase Utley to tie the game at 2. The Orioles would score 5 runs in the 5th to put the game out of reach.

Joe Blanton vs. Chad Billingsly

For the 5th straight game, the Athletics opponent started off the scoring, this time it was Melvin Mora hitting an RBI double. The A's would take the lead in the 3rd on back to back RBI base hits from Emil Brown and Daric Barton. Joe Blanton was not able to maintain the lead as the O's scored 2 runs in the 4th inning to take a 3-2 lead. The A's were shut down the rest of the game, and are off to a dissapointing 1-4 start in September.

Anibal Sanchez vs. Steve Trachsel

Luis Hernandez started off the scoring in this matchup with an RBI single to right field. In the 4th, the Atletics would turn up the heat. Daric Barton and Chase Utley hit back to back RBI singles. Two batters later, Jack Cust hit his 20th homerun of the year, a 3 run homerun. To cap off the scoring in the 4th, Chris Denorfia singled in Eric Chavez to make it 6-1. In the 5th, Kurt Suzuki made it 7-1 with an RBI single that drove home Chase Utley. The game looked out of reach, but the O's made a push. In the 7th they scored two runs off of Anibal Sanchez, but Kiko Calero came in and was able to get out of the jam. In the 8th, Kevin Millar hit a 2 run homer to make the game 7-5. Tom Gordon came on to close out the game, and gave up a RBI double to Scott Moore but was able to keep the lead and the A's were able to avoid a sweep.

Brett Myers vs. Javy Vazquez

The A's got out to an early lead as Chase Utley hit a deep RBI double over the centerfielders head to make it 1-0. Kurt Suzuki stepped up next and plated another run to give the A's a 2 run lead. Bottom first Brett Myers made a mistake to the first batter, Curtis Granderson, and he made him pay with a solo shot to left to cut the lead to 1. The Athletics would get another run in the 5th from an RBI groundout by Emil Brown. In the 6th, Jack Cust crushed a hanging changeup to right for his 21st homerun on the year. The homerun went an estimated 469 feet. The A's would add another run in the 9th, and that's all they needed as Keith Foulke was able to shut down the Tigers 123 in the bottom of the 9th to secure the victory.

Justin Duchscherer vs. Jeremy Bonderman

In the top of the 2nd inning, Kurt Suzuki took Bonderman deep for a solo homerun, his 17th on the year. Curtis Granderson would tie up the game with an RBI double in the 3rd. In the 4th, Miguel Cabrera hit an absolute bomb to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead, his 32nd homerun on the year. Felipe Lopez started off the 5th inning with a triple to deep center. Next batter, Emil Brown knocked him in with an RBI single. Two batters later Chase Utley was up with two on, and hit a homerun just over the left field fence to give the A's a 5-2 lead, his 23rd on the year. Later that inning Jack Cust hit his 22nd homerun off of Joel Zumaya. The Tigers would get one run back the next half inning on a Miguel Cabrera RBI single. The A's would go on to score 3 more in the 7th to put the game away. Rajai Davis extended his hit streak to 15 games. Highly touted draft pick Barton made his major league debut tonight going 2 innings allowing no runs.

Rich Harden vs. Kenny Rogers

The Tigers kicked off the scoring on a Paul Bako RBI single in the 2nd inning. Emil Brown stepped up to the plate with bases loaded in the 3rd, and absolutely crushed a changeup to deep left, just off the top of the wall for a bases clearing double. Chase Utley would drive home Brown later that inning with a single to right field. In the 4th Jack Cust hit a solo homerun, his 23rd on the year. Later that inning Felipe Lopez hit a 2 run homerun, his 8th of the year, to make it 7-1. The scoring didn't stop there, in the 5th Kurt Suzuki drove in 2 with a base hit to center. Eric Chavez hit a sac fly to deep left center. Rajai Davis also joined in, driving in a run on a single to left. In the 6th, Daric Barton singled home a run, and Jack Cust drove him in on a double down the right field line. The Athletics ran into some trouble in the 7th, Lenny DiNardo and Santiago Casilla would both give up 3 runs as the Tigers cut the lead to 13-6. Jack Cust would top off the win with an RBI double in the 8th as the Athletics went on to win 14-7.
