I have a new idea for a season log. I'm not going to pick a team, but rather, simulate all 10 Season Mode years, one at a time. The purpose: We think up questions for the "Crystal Ball," and see if they happen in 10 years. Examples: Will A-Rod break the career HR record? Will Jeter get 4,000 hits? Will the Brewers win the World Series in the next 10 years? The only rule is that they need to reasonably be possible by 2018. I'll start off the list with my three examples: CRYSTAL BALL QUESTIONS: Will A-Rod break the career HR record in the next 10 years? Will Jeter get his 4,000th career hit in the next 10 years? Will the Brewers win the World Series in the next 10 years? Will the Cubs win the World Series in the next 10 years? Will Josh Beckett lead the league in wins in at least one season over the next 10 years? Will the Rays make the playoffs in the next 10 years? Will a drafted player win the Cy Young or MVP with a reasonable statline to justify it? Will the Orioles be successful in at least 1 season? Will the Orioles break the record for the worst season record? Will the Nationals make the playoffs in the next 10 years? Will someone get more than 72 home runs in a season? Will the Pirates make it out of last place in the next 10 years? Will Tim Wakefield retire in the next 10 years? Will a team win more than 116 games in a season? Will any member of the "Core Four" become a member of the Red Sox? |

Does Jack Merluzzi get a heart attack and replaced? ![]() Seriously: Does a drafted player win the Cy Young or MVP with a reasonable statline to justify it? |

Idea--I'll make two expansion gray-bar teams, so I don't have to do the draft and make roster decisions for one team? |

Or, what about one gray-bar team and one Portland Ponies? I'd take control of the Ponies to make sure that they pick awful draft picks each time. |

The 1899 Cleveland Spiders, which were incredibly bad because they traded all of their good players (including Cy Young) to the St. Louis Browns for practically nothing, went 20-134 that season and disbanded the next year. They finished the year 84 games out of first and had a .130 winning %. FOR THE SAKE OF THIS LOG, a record of 21-141 would give them a winning percentage of less than .130, thus breaking the record. The prediction will only be correct if the Orioles win 21 games or less in one season, which is, in my opinion, legitamitely possible. |
