Meche is angry. I asked him how angry he was over IM, and he said

He would like you to pick it up...NOW.

Not really much I can do about the games I sim. Just the last game I simmed, Jose Contreras and Bobby Jenks got 26 strikeouts against me in a nine inning game. 24 for Contreras, 2 for Jenks.

Yeah. I HATE losing, but I keep having to tell myself to deal with it because I'm TRYING to make this one of those feel-good "worst to first" stories with a terrible first year and gradually getting better.

And plus, if I finish with the worst record this year, I get first pick in the draft next year, and there's a good chance I might draft players with similar abilities as my two draft picks this season. :D

Kansas City Royals (45-64) @ Oakland Athletics (45-61)
July 30, 2008

OAKLAND -- The Royals have lost again, this time to the Athletics in Oakland. The Royals got on the board early with a two-run homer to right off the bat of Jose Guillen, but Kurt Suzuki countered with his own two-run jack to left center in the third to tie it. This game would remain tied 2-2 until the eighth when David DeJesus jacked a solo shot to deep center field. With their backs to the walls, the Athletics tied the game in the bottom of the ninth with a solo blast off the bat of Frank Thomas. Finally, in the bottom of the eleventh, the A's won on a walk-off bloop single by Eric Chavez scoring the winning run from second base.

Final Score:
Royals: 3
Athletics: 4

WP - Duchscherer (2-0) | LP - R.Ramirez (5-6) | SV -
HR:
F.Thomas (19) K.Suzuki (11) J.Guillen (23) DeJesus (5)

Meche: 9 IP, 10 H, 3 ER
DeJesus: HR
J.Guillen: HR, 2 RBI

Foulke: 7 IP, 3 R
F.Thomas: HR
K.Suzuki: HR, 2 RBI
E.Chavez: RBI

To be honest, I guessed on who was the winning and losing pitcher. I accidentally pressed the "a" button, taking me to the points screen before I was able to collect all the stats. I really hate when I do that.

July in Review

After a terrific June, the Royals went in reverse and had a terrible July. They went 9-17 in the month and are back in last place behind the fourth place Twins. They also have the second worst record in the majors with just 45 wins. They have 65 losses, meaning that they are 20 games below .500. They are also 18 games back of the first place White Sox for the division. Other division leaders around the majors are the Yankees in the AL East, the Mariners in the AL West, the Mets in the NL West, the Astros in the NL Central, and the Dodgers in the NL West. Entering August, it is now time to start looking at the wild card leaders. In the National League, the Reds are leading the wild card race, and in the American League, the Red Sox are leading, but are very close behind the Yankees for the division as well. It was a bit of a disappointing month, but let's see if the Royals can put up better numbers in August.
