Both pitchers dominated in this game, but Zack Greinke barely edged Francisco Liriano with six innings of two-hit ball.

The Indians finally got another run in the seventh with a solo blast to left field by Jhonny Peralta. This run would be necessary because in the eighth, the Royals scored their only run on an RBI single by Joey Gathright.

ROYALS THROW PERFECT GAME

In just the second to last game of the season, the Kansas City Royals have thrown a three-pitcher perfect game against the Minnesota Twins. Brett Tomko was the starting pitcher, and he pitched 6 2/3 innings. Next, Ramon Ramirez pitched 1 1/3 innings, and finally Joakim Soria came in to pitch the ninth. He got Lamb to ground out to second, and Harris to fly out to center, one out to go. He got an 0-2 count on Adam Everett, and threw him a changeup. He swung and miss to complete the three-pitcher combined perfect game.

Of course I simed it. I could never do the whole thing. I was simming, and I wasn't really paying attention to it. As it was simming, I looked at my screen and noticed the perfect game going into the ninth, so the only part of it I actually played was the ninth inning.

September in Review

September was the best month of the season for the Royals, going 16-11, and having a major highlight with the combined perfect game, but finishing in fourth place in the division. They finished with the fifth worst record in the majors. That may seem like a bad thing, but it's not all bad. That also means they get fifth pick in the 2009 draft, and we all know the earlier picks make the bigger splash early on. They finished the season with a record of 74-88, eighteen games behind the first place White Sox in the division, and five games ahead of the last place Twins. Here are the other division and wild card winners. For the American League; in the east, the Yankees and Red Sox both finished in first with the same record of 88-74. Both teams will make the playoffs anyway, but one will have to win the division, and the other the wild card. In the west, the Angels finished in first, a game over of the Mariners. Now, for the NL. In the east, the Mets finished first as we all expected, the Reds finished first in the central with the Astros getting the wild card, and the Dodgers finished in first in the west, three games up on both the Giants and Rockies. Going into October, it will be interesting to see how the playoffs unfold. And we can all hope for a better season from the Royals next year.
