Since my Red Sox log's date got destroyed(again) and since it's summer for me now and I'll have much more time to do this, I'm doing a log for the Padres

I'm trying to make this like the Pirates log. It'll hopefully be long and both team were bad when they started but at some point will be good

I also liked the Padres because I like playing in the NL and I like having pitching and defense team. Petco Park is pretty cool too

Also there can be agents too

Season: 2008

Yes the rosters for 2010 make it confusing when its really the 2008 season but just stay with me on that. So some rookies I created that didn't debut til 2010 will be playing in this game so there will be a TON of rookies in 2008. Also there will be a lot of players that weren't in Power Pros 2008, don't worry about them, I made their abilities realistic to how they should be. There are a lot of edited players as well

Padres Announce Opening Day starter, Lineup
March 30 -- Just a day before San Diego starts the 2008 season with the Astros, the Padres have tabbed RHP Jon Garland as their opening day starter. They also have announced their 2008 opening day lineup. There will be 3 rookies in that starting lineup and only one player over 30 years old in this youthful lineup. Here's the full lineup:

SS - Everth Cabrera
2B - David Eckstein
1B - Adrian Gonzalez
CF - Scott Hairston
LF - Kyle Blanks
3B - Chase Headley
Ca - Yorvit Torrealba
RF - Tony Gwynn Jr.
SP - Chris Young

Youth the story for San Diego in '08

After a heart breaking 2008 tiebreaker loss in 2007 to the Rockies, the Padres will rely on youth to get them back to playoff contention but is a heavy task. Their lineup looks to be a major weakness. They will have home run hitter Adrian Gonzalez but after that, David Eckstein has the most career homeruns in their starting lineup. This could be a sign that the Padres will look for pitching and defense to guide them in a very pitchers friendly park in Petco Park. Their bullpen may be trouble with such a young staff and it will be interesting to see if Heath Bell can be the closer replacing the all-time saves lead Trevor Hoffman. Their rotation has great potential too. With Chris Young and Jon Garland as the aces, they have a good 1-2 combo. But after they will rely on Kevin Correia and two pitchers with great potential in Clayton Richard and Mat Latos. This 2008 season may be a trying one but its going to have to be in what looks like a rebuilding season.

Homeruns Sink Padres in Opening Day loss

March 31 -- Opening Day 2008 wasn't a kind one for the Padres as they fell 6-1 to the Houston Astros. The Astros started off very strong against Jon Garland, with 2 outs in the 1st inning Carlos Lee drove in a run with an RBI single but that wasn't it. Hunter Pence hit a 2-run homerun and Pedro Feliz made it back to back homeruns and it was 4-0 in the 1st inning. In the 5th, Kaz Matsui drove in a 5th run and in the 6th Tim Stauffer gave up Hunter Pence's 2nd homerun of the day to make it 6-0. The Padres wouldn't come close against Astros starter Roy Oswalt who stifled the Friars in allowing just 5 hits and his only run allowed was a solo homerun in the 9th by Adrian Gonzalez.

Latos Stellar in debut as Padres win 3rd straight

April 3 -- Welcome to the big league Mat Latos. Mat Latos made his major league debut today and became an instant hit with a dominant outing. He gave up only 4 hits and no runs while striking out 10 in 6 2/3 innings. This should also be remember in rookie catch Nick Hundley made his major league debut as well and caught this outing(he also got his first career hit). The Padres offense mustered little against the Astros though but they did enough. Everth Cabrera doubled in the first run in the 4th inning and Chase Headley singled in a run in the 5th inning to make it 2-0. The offenses were very week today with only one extra base hit and only 10 hits combined but the Padres will take it as they take 3 of 4 from Houston to begin the season.

Homeruns send Padres to 2nd straight loss

April 5 -- The Dodgers won their 2nd straight against the Padres in this series and did it with homeruns. The 1st inning resembled opening day when Chris Young gave up a solo homerun to Manny Ramirez and a solo homerun to Andre Ethier to make it 2-0 in the 1st inning. Then in the 3rd Ramirez came up again and hit his 2nd homerun of the day, a 2-run shot to make it 4-0. Despite an ugly performance in the field with 3 errors(Cabrera, Gonzalez and Young), Chris Young was able to keep them in the game and gave up 4 runs with 3 of them earned. In the 4th San Diego fought back with back to back RBI singles by Kyle Blanks and Scott Hairston to make it 4-2. The game was held scoreless until the 8th inning when Kyle Blanks hit his 1st big league homerun to bring them within one. In the bottom of the 9th, the Padres got the tying run at 3rd base with 2 outs but Broxton got Adrian Gonzalez to bounce out on a close play to end the game.

Matt Cain No-Hits Padres in embarrassing effort

April 7 -- We knew the Padres offense was bad but this was just a pitiful performance as Matt Cain no-hit San Diego today. The Giants meanwhile only scored one run in the game, it was a fielders choice off the bat of Cain where Headley tried to go to 2nd base for the force out to end the inning but instead the runner was safe, that was the only run of the game. Matt Cain only needed 89 pitches to completely fool the Padres bats into getting jammed and making weak outs. Gonzalez was walked in the 1st inning as the only baserunner allowed by Cain and he got Nick Hundley to weakly ground out to finish off his no-hit masterpiece. Matt Cain will remember this for as long as he lives after his history maker tonight but the Padres will look to soon forget.

But never in my power pros life have I been no-hit. I couldn't make good contact at all and the balls I did hit well went just in front of the CF track. It was frustrating

Jacobye, this is a very interesting log.
Padres are an interesting choice and will you be making trades soon?
Also, I think you made a typo in your Dodgers game as I dont think it is possible to have the tying run at 3rd base in a 3 run game.
