Post subject:  Oakland Athletics: THE TIME IS NOW

And after an epic title  , I've decided to do a log with the Oakland Athletics. This may be slow from the start as I'm doing two Seasons at once (Braves is the other). After getting my Braves Roster nearly perfect for my needs, I was getting bored with the rush of trades that I made during the two months of the season I've played. I was craving to take the A's to the promisied land. So, now I'm doing my second log (the first one, my Las Vegas Sharks log, was an epic fail).

Notes:
'08 rosters
Playing 1-2 games a series
Difficulty: Expert on everything, Lock-On 2, Manual Baserunning
Agents if you want
I plan to be a trading Maverick, trading away the expensive or players I don't really need, for players I want.

I'll most likely play the first game this weekend. But I'll post rosters later today.

Dish, you've been added to the agent list.

"Work Cut Out for Me" new GM says
Oakland
In the wake of Billy Beane going to become the new GM for the Detroit Tigers, the Oakland Athletics have hired buissness graduate and All-American 2B at Yale Univesity, Scott Eagle, to become the new GM. Eagle, a man that considers Beane to be one of his idols, says he likes that ability with a low payroll to wheel and deal with big signings and trades. Still, he recives a recovering franchise that needs a leader. "I've got my work cut out for me", Eagle says, "Prospects are slim and we need to make some deals quick". Eagle wasted no time in signing F/A, Signing Matt Morris, Hideo Nomo, Kirk Saarloos, Chuck James, Dan Johnson, and Tomas Perez to one year contracts. He says due to the lack of Starting Pitching at the big league level, Nomo and Morris will take the rotation, with James waiting in the wings. Perez will be the utility infielder for the A's

I'll be playing the first game Friday. I've just got to much on my plate tonight in homework and baseball practice to do it now.

Longball and PPJr, you've been added. Forgot to metion you can have more than one player as your client, but with a max of three. Another note: AAA players will be relased when called up.

Sjax and BBB, you've been added. Sorry this is taking so long. I've had too much baseball and school work to cope with. But here is updates of three games, a player on the DL, and a trade. Seperated out to make reading eaiser.

3/25/2008

Blanton (0-0) vs. Beckett (0-0)
Oakland Loses opener under new GM
Oakland
The Athletics lost their season opener today, losing 17-13 to the Boston Red Sox. Need less to say, the Red Sox were on fire, hitting 5 HRs combined to stop the A's. Both Starters for the teams but in mediocre no-desicions, with Beckett lasting one inning giving up 7, and Blanton lasting 4.1 innings and also giving up 7. The A's were up one heading into the 9th, but Hudson Street gave up four runs in the 9th to cause an A's Loss.

W-Papelbon (1-0)
L-Street (0-1) BS

NOTABLES:
OAK:
E. Chavez: 4-6, 3 2B, rbi
K. Suzuki: 4-5, 3 rbis
Denorfia: 2-4, 2 rbis
Blanton: 4.1 in, 4 K, 18.7 ERA, ND

BOS:
D. Ortiz: 4-6, 2 HR, 6 rbis
M. Ramierz: 3-6, HR, 3 rbis
J. D. Drew: 4-6, HR, 2 rbis

Morris (0-0) vs. Matuzaka (0-0)
Red Sox Smash A's, Morris on DL
Oakland
The Red Sox showed their muscle again today, crushing the A's 22-10. Matt Morris pitched well in the game but was taken out with Elbow Pains and was put on the 15-day DL. Not much to say really, except we jack Dice-K out of the game.

W-Delcarmen (1-0)
L- Braden (0-1)

NOTABLES
OAK:
E. Brown: 4-5, rbi
Ellis: 3-6, 2 rbis
Cust: 2-5, 3 rbis
Morris: 4.1 in, 3 K, 16.6 ERA, ND

BOS:
Varitek: HR, 4 rbis
D. Ortiz: 3-7, 3 HR, 4 rbis
Ellsbury: 4-7, 3 rbis
Matuzaka: 1.2 inn, 32.4 ERA, ND

Sorry for lack of Updates, with finals in school and playing for not one but two baseball teams, I've been jam packed. But could you guys suggest any trades right now with my roster. It seems Matt Morris could have steal value at some point...

What positions are you looking for? I could be your trade advisor too...

I think the first thing you should do is trade Emil Brown for a starting pitcher (Zack Duke, Paul Maholm perhaps?) and then let Travis Buck play RF.

Ok, I like that. But I'm looking for these postiitoins in paticular

Lefty Pitchers
LF
SP

I have one lefty, O' Flaherty, in the Pen now (Got him for Embree in a trade with SEA). I want Frank Thomas for a player that can play Left Field with considerable Pop and decent fielding (Like Jason Bay). Or, I could move Brown to Left and have another Starter (or two).

UPDATE:

Well, we've lost our first 6 games. Not exactly a good start. But I've pulled off two Trades

Mariners Get
Mark Embree RP

Athletics Get
Eric O' Flarherty

Second Trade

Cubs Get
Dan Johnson 1B

Athletics Get
Rich Hill SP
Carlos Marmol RP

The Mariner Trade was to get some much need lefty pitching in O' Flarherty and the Cubs trade got me a reliable starter and a decent reliver, both which were in Triple A for some reason. :?

Another note, I'm not going to be doing game updates for every game anymore, I'll do one per series. However, I'm still playing every game.
