Post subject:  Feeling like I need to make a trade...

Alright I am currently working on a project in season mode. The Royals is the team I wanted to try and see what they have to offer. I am in my first year, after the draft, start of July.

My roster looks like this, (all players are un-edited)
Lineup:
1. DeJesus-DH
2. Ellsbury-CF (already traded for)
3. Uggla-2B (already traded for)
4. H. Ramirez-SS (already traded for)
5. Teahen-LF
6. Gload-1B
7. Guillen-RF
8. Gordon-3B
9. J.Buck-C

Rotation:
1. Carmona (already traded for)
2. Bannister
3. Lester (already traded for)
4. E. Jackson (already traded for)
5. C. Buchholz (already traded for)
6. Garza

Bullpen:
JP Howell (already traded for)
Lizarragga (drafted)
Nunez
Hochevar
J.Soria
Greinke

Now, I know how to make the trades, and I have made some already, I have ideas who I want to trade for, but I always seem to trade for them in every franchise I'm in. I was thinking maybe a power hitter...

Any suggestions...(of who I should get and who I should trade)

Try sending Buck and cash for Jack Cust. If you can make Cust get his Contact up he will be a great DH.

Or try sending Gordan and Buck (maybe cash) for Cust and move Teahen to 3rd and have Cust start at LF.

I did a file with the Mets and I traded Carlos Delgado and Luis Castillo for Akinori Iwamura and Carlos Pena. Both guys I got are better than the guys I gave at the respective positions. I was surprised by that. Maybe you can try something like that. Maybe Gload and Buck for Pena and Navarro? I don't know, probably won't work but worth a shot....

I would go for Ryan Howard. He is usually very, very easy to steal so I would try for Howard and Greg Dobbs or something.

Another possiblility is the Diamondbacks. Try trading for Conor Jackson, Chris Snyder and Mark Reynolds.

Besides Cust (who I agree is a fantastic player at a cheap price), you might also take a look at Ryan Garko and Brandon Phillips.

Garko isn't very good defensively at 1B, but he's got good power and can be acquired for next to nothing. If you're looking for a right-handed bat, he's an excellent option.

Phillips is a power hitting 2B who's a bit better defensively. Unfortunately, he has the "timely whiff" quality, but he's also locked up to an absurdely cheap 4 year contract at something like 670 points per season.

I will look into him, thanks for the help.

I'm thinking that Pena is a good idea to go after.

I will not be going after Howard, reason why, he is one of the players that I trade for almost every time. (along with Fielder, Figgins etc.)

Although I will try the Diamondbacks...see what I can get

Garko I might, but not Phillips (per same reason as Howard)

So everyone thinks that my rotation is ok? Nothing needed in pitching?

Carmona I hate. He consistently puts up an ERA of 6+. You'll probably want to find somebody else instead, Haren would be a good choice.
Your bullpen is a little bit shallow. Look at Aaron Heilman (Mets), Heath Bell (Padres), Cla Meredith (Padres), Rafael Betancourt (Indians), Joaquin Benoit (Rangers), and Brian Fuentes (Rockies).

Rotation:
1. Carmona - (5-7) 4.50 era
2. Bannister - (4-2) 3.48 era
3. Lester - (7-4) 2.79 era
4. E. Jackson - (6-5) 5.09 era
5. C. Buchholz - (6-0) 3.43 era [nice surprise seeing him do well]
6. Garza - (4-4) 7.14 era

Now it is updated with my pitchers w/l and also the era. I think that maybe trading for 2 starters. Or 1 starter, 1 reliever.

I will think about that one.

And quick update, I have made a trade. (all non updated)

I (the Royals) get
-C. Jackson
-Reynolds
-Justin Upton
-1294 points

The Diamondbacks get
-Ross Gload 1B

In my opinion, I stole that deal.

I was was trolling for a SP/RP combo a couple of nights ago and noticed that Garza/Howell (TB) or Slowey/Neshek (MIN) could be had for 2 scrubs from my expansion team (I see you already have Garza). All of those guys are cheap, under club control for 4+ years, and have good combinations of blue abilities. You can even convert Howell into a SP (C Stamina), but he's great in middle/long relief.
