THE ISOTOPES, ACES JOIN AL WEST
Two expansion teams have joined the MLB. One is playing in a beautiful new stadium in downtown Albuquerque named Rainbow Beach Stadium. The other is sharing Chase Field with the Diamondbacks.
The Las Vegas Aces and the Albuquerque Isotopes have joined the AL West. The Isotopes manager, Marcus Simpson, thinks the team can "be competitive" in a good looking AL West. The Angels of Anehiem are still being projected as the West Champs, but some experts think the Aces and Topes can be anywhere from 2-4th place. The Isotopes got out to an early start by signing 4 AAA graduates. Malik Upton, who is a brother of Justin and B.J., Ryan Wright, a nice firstbaseman, Ryan Fields, a catcher 1B combo, and a reliever Ryan King. GM Homer Wells believes these four players can contribute to a very young Isotopes team.

APRIL IN REVIEW
The Isotopes had their first series against the Aces. Both teams were struggling after Opening Day. The Aces took 2 out of 3 and moved up in the division race. After that last home game against the Aces, the 'Topes headed out on a 13 game road trip, which they 5-8 on. They ended up 11-17 in April and tied for last with the Aces. The only good thing that happened was Mark Dirosa winning the Rookie of the monthe, while hitting .317, hitting 3 Bombs, and 25 RBIs. The team also made 4762 points in April.

MAY IN REVIEW
The 'Topes started off May by calling up 2b Barry Sanhouse and sending down Delucchi, and sent down RF Ben Wallace and called up Dan Alfaro. Then, the team's starting 1b Ryan Wright got injured, and the team called up Fred Barnwell to be his replacement. Albuquerque trying to get a new 3B, talking with teams like Florida and Kansas City. The President had this to say:
Quote:
With the team staying in the bottom 3 in the division, we feel a lineup move at 3B will help. We've been talking to the Royals about AAA starter Alex Gordon and the Marlins about Jorge Cantu. So far, no replies other than no.

the team would finish the month with a 13-14 record in May, 24-31 overall and tied for third. We also made 6741 points.

(Sorry if you guys want game by game or some games, I'm already in FA Signing...)

( I Did, my team takes a tumble in Aug-Sept)
JUNE IN REVIEW
The Isotopes' first series against a NL opponent will be against the Florida Marlins (ironic). The team took 2 out of 3 against the Fish.A couple of days later, the President and GM had an announcement:
Quote:
We have traded pitcher Dave Ransom and Greg Emanuel to the Royals for Alex Gordon. He will make his season debut against the Mets tommorrow, because he hasn't played in the MLB yet.

ESPN said this:
Quote:
The Official Isotopes' Twitter account has just said this: "Brand new 3B from KC! More later on trade." Sounds like trade talks are over for the 'Topes

MLB DRAFT:
The first pick in the draft went to Albuquerque and they picked pitcher Ricky Rolls. Top Spd of 90, Ctrl of C, D in STAM, lv 3 Cutter, lv 1 CB, lv 1 Slider.
Their second pick didn't happen because of the team having 44 players. The GM took blame:
Quote:
I'm very sorry, considering there was still talent out there...

Shortly after the Draft, the A's made a move, looking to creep up on first place Angels by trade Huston Street to Pittsburgh and recieve Zack Dukes.
The Isotopes made 8862 points in June with a record of 15-12, 39-43 overall, still tied for third.

JULY IN REVIEW
The month started by the team going on a 5 game winning streak, lifting them to a .500 45-45 record. Winning streak continues until all star break, up to 8 games. Pitcher Opal Orsono was named the Isotopes' All-Star. Then, the Cubs offered 2B Mike Fontenot for CF Sid Snare. The 'Topes accepted, hoping Fontenot could "Help the cause" The AL won the all-Star Game 7-6. We went 11-13 in July, ending up 50-56, 3rd in the West. Ryan Fields Rookie of the Month, and we made 6902.

After that, we couldn't hold on to 3rd, and fell to a tie for forth with the Rangers. The A's would end up winning the division, but lose to the Reds in the World Series. Ryan Fields was named AL Rookie of the Year, which made the Isotopes feel less defeated.

STANDINGS:
1. A's 96-86
2. Angels 86-76
3. Mariners 75-87
4. Rangers 71-91
4. ISOTOPES 71-91
6. Aces 70-92

You did OK your first year, might need to fill some holes, but this team looks very good nonetheless.

FREE AGENT SIGNINGS AND Q AND A!

The GM and President walk into a room with two microphones set up. They sit down to the applause of 3 reporters. Behind them are four jereseys, with the numbers 31, 46, 38, and 23. The President speaks first. "As you may know, Free Agent signing is over, but we did grab four players that could help our team." Then, Brad Penny walks into the room wearing an Isotopes' hat. His number on the Dodgers, 31, will be his number here. "Then, because our bullpen cost us some of our games, we signed two players that are highly capeable of closing out games. We also signed Ryan Dempster from the Cubs and Brian Moehler from the Astros." Dempster will wear 46 while Moehler will wear 38. "And last but not least, Casey Blake from the Dodgers signed with us." He will wear 23.

Q&A!
Most of the press has left now, but one still sits there as the GM and President wait. The question is from dishnetkid of the Kalamazoo Gazette:

Quote:
"Do you think Ryan Fields can avoid the "Sophomore Jinx?"

The GM answers this by saying: "What Sophmore Jinx? Fields has great potential to be an All-Star backstop and will hit 15-20 homers the rest of his carrer."

Post subject:  Re: My 3rd log: The Albuquerque Isotopes

I'm going to go week by week and play what I call my "Game of the Week" from now on.

The Isotopes went 2-1-1 in Spring Training (like NFL Preseason lol) and think they have a good chance in the AL West. They have to play the Aces in game 1 of 162, and Casey Blake thinks it could be a "start of a rivalry".
