This is a franchise log by DrMario. (More will be added tomorrow) The Giants as of the past few years have struggled, losing 100 games over the years. 2008 was no different for the Giants finishing with a dismal 72-90 record finishing 4th in the NL West 12 games back of first. Early November rolls around and Giants upper management has decided to fire the general manager. Now March 22, the Giants are just getting a new GM and what's worse is he is fresh out of college and doesn't know much about the trade. Can this new GM turn things around? |

COACHING STAFF The new GM released what his coaching staff will look like heading into the 09' (08' in the game, but with 09' rosters) season. Manager: Bruce Bochy ![]() The GM really likes Bochy and he will be at the helm starting this year. Hitting Coach: Carney Lansford Pitching Coach: David Righetti Bench Coach: Ron Wotus Bullpen Coach: Mark Gardner First Base Coach: Roberto Kelly ![]() Third Base Coach: Tim Flannery The GM hopes all of them have a good year and hope they can all get along to develop the team. I was going to do photots for all of them, but I ran into some difficulty and can only get a few of them. |

SEASON OUTLOOK Expectations are low for the Giants. Some project them losing 100 games, others have them losing more, and yet other have them losing less. The Giants are a team of both young and old. Old players like Aaron Rowand, Rich Aurilia, and Randy Winn are starting to lose their touch. However, young players like Pablo Sandoval, Travis Ishikawa, and Tim Lincecum give the Giants some hope. Will the new GM go for a win now motive and trade away the young talent for old, proven players and try to contend for the division? Or do they trade away their old proven players for young, untapped prospects and face the adversity as they develop? Nobody knows of the the GM's motives and plans but we shall soon find out. But... Does the GM even have a plan........ Season Goals 1) Avoid NL West Basement 2) Avoid 100 losses 3) Score over 640 runs 4) Strike-Out over 1000 batters 5) Improve Bullpen (if struggling) 6) Win Bay Bridge Series (is it called that?) UP NEXT Season Opener |

NOT AGAIN!!! Dodgers 5 Giants 1 It was a great start for Dodgers.... Kuroda pitching a gem and getting a couple hits. Lincecum also pitched well, going 7 innings giving up only 3 runs while striking out 7. Sergio Romo came in in the 8th and got charged for 2 runs. Valdez came in to pitch the last 2 /3 and was perfect. "The hitting never got going" says manager Bruce Bochy. The Dodgers on the other hand, were hitting to all fields. Lincecum was able to get out of many jams but as said earlier he surrendered 3 runs. It's a disappointing start to the season for the Giants. So I've simmed alittle bit and here's what we've got: Matt Cain delivers in game two to give the Giants first win of the season! Zito gets shelled, going 4IP 5BB and 7ER in his 2009 debut Noah Lowry with the Performance of the week going 7 2/3 Ip Striking out 11, however walking 6 but no ER and get the W. "The Unit" loses in his Giants debut going 6.2Ip 4 ER 4BB and 8Ks Merkin Valdez, although with a 27 ERA gets the Giants their 2nd win of the year. That's a record of 2-3. |

Hey, you're on pace for a season just like 2008! ![]() In MyLife, Noah Lowry threw a CG 1 hitter with 22 K's! That was 1 less than Johan Santana, the other player of the week, got in 2 starts. |

(Note I simmed this game with fast game using 3x and didn't intervene AT ALL) He's quoted as saying: Quote: I didn't even know I had a no hitter through 7IP, I was starting to wonder why everybody was avoiding me! BRUCE BOCHY UNDER FIRE? Reports are taking root that Bruce Bochy is taking heavy criticizem from the president and owner of the Giants. They feel that prospect Clay Timpner should be called up, however Bochy said earlier in the year that he would refuse to play him in games until he develops his swing more. The GM had this to say after Bochy's comments earlier this year: Quote: I'm going to try to talk him [Bruce Bochy] into letting him play, Clay needs to be developed at a higher level. Mr. President was availble for comment in the evening and voiced his anger Quote: Clay needs to get called up soon, it would be silly to have to fire such a fine manager so early in the season for not obeying an owners request. We feel that it would greatly help the club if he could develop at a higher level it would be great for the team in the future. Bruce Bochy was unavailble for comment. Buster Olney says that this is a silly dilema and should be solved at the soonest rate before it gets out of hand and affects the clubhouse. We will tell you more as this story unfolds. In other news, Conor Gillaspie was recently called up from AA to AAA. Kevin Frandsen has also been injured and is listed as day-to-day, but should be back in about 4 games. It is unknown what the injury is. |
