Jackson Jackson is a lefty. He joined the team as a 19 year old and had a solid first year in 2008. He has gotten speed and is now D, D, B, C, D and 3 trj. Hit 13 homeruns and .283 last year and had a tremendous drop off from last year and even lost his job in the leadoff spot for awhile DeSalvo Desalvo is a righty. DeSalvo has been a great player and has batted .300 + in 3 out of his 4 years since being a starter in 2008. He had his best homerun totals and could be in the 4 hole but the eagles like him stealing bases in the 2 hole. He is already 29 Wilson Wilson is a lefty. Wilson has been the biggest force in the lineup over the year. He has had the most homeruns on the team and has been a starter since 2008. After only around 20-25 homeruns in the first 2 years, had a 40 homerun season in 2010 and followed it off with a good 2011 Inglett Inglett is a righty. Inglett isn't the usualy number 4 man but he is needed between 2 lefties. He has had some pretty good power and has been a starter since 2008 Aceves Aceves is a lefty. He has been very consisent and has had 4 straight 20+ homeruns seasons and had a career high in 2011. He can play 1B and has been a starter since 2008 Rottino Rottino is a switch hitter. Rottino became the 2B in 2010 after hitting 13 homeruns as the right fielder in 2009. Rottino was at first an outfielder but made a Skip Shumaker change and has moved to second base. He became the second baseman after Valentin struggled the year after he hit 13 homeruns McClellen McClellen is a lefty. McClellen is known most for his speed as he stole 22 in 2011. He has been a starter since 2008 and had a big walk-off hit in 2011 that I will get to later Griffiths Griffiths is a righty. Griffiths was known mainly for his arm and glove until he broke out in 2011. He had hit a combined 18 homeruns in 3 years as a starter(since 2008) and had 16 homeruns in 2011 Barker Barker is a lefty. Barker is a pretty interesting story, he started as a first baseman but was converted to a right fielder in 2009 after hitting .439 with 4 homeruns in 100 or so at-bats and become the starting right fielder in 2010. He struggled mightily in his first full yeat though but hit pretty well in 2011 Calloway Calloway throws righty. Calloway had a great year in 2011 and will likely start game 1 of the ALDS. He never really hit a grove until this year, especially in August when he was 4-0 with a 0.95 ERA which greatly helped the Eagles get their comeback into the AL West champs. He can also throw a knuckeball Meyers Meyers is a righty. Meyers has fallen since being the opening day starter from 2008-2010. He led the leauge in ERA in 2009 with a 2.97 ERA and was signed to a 4 year and 5000 point extension but since then has had 2 sttaight 5.00 ERA+ seasons McDaniel McDaniel is a lefty. McDaniel started opening day and had the Eagles best ERA in 2010 with a 4.56 ERA. He was consistent and good in 2011 Van Hekken Van Hekken is righty. He has been somewhat incostent but has high stamina Montanez Montanez is righty. He struggled in 2011 but this was his 2nd year. He was the only starter not to be in the rotation in 2008 Osorio He is a lefty. Not much to say but he has a 99 MPH fastball Carp He is a righty. Carp has been a good part of the bullpen since 2008 and is a submarine pitcher Borkowski Borkowski is righty He replaced Mills in the bullpen but has struglled and was not how the Eagles wanted him to be Hampson Hampson is righty He used to be the teams closer but is now enjoying success as a set-up man Norton Norton is a righty. He has been the best bullpen pitcher since 2008 and joins Hampson and Carp as the only pitchers in the pen to be here since 2008 Murray Murray is a lefty. He replaces Nelson mid-season and pitched very well in 42 IP Mallett Mallett is righty. He is the teams closer and has had 2 straight seasons of 30+ saves and 3.00- ERA seasons. He has blown only 5 carreer saves I need a break... How the Eagles did it this season is next |

How did they do it? Well it took a meltdown by the M's and a comeback by the Eagles to do it. After 3 straight season of being under .500, the Eagles were hoping for some kind of magic and with a weak division they could do it. After a 17 loss July, the Eagles looked done but they came out of nowhere winning 14 straight to begin August and were only a few behind the M's at that point. (Calloway helped by winning pitcher of the month by going 4-0 with a 0.95 ERA). But in the end, down 1 game with 2 games to go, it came down to 1 series against the first place Mariners at Hawaii. It was win or go home for Hawaii but they were able to win game 1 behinf McDaniel, 7-4. So it all cames down to 1 game to decide the American Leauge West Division. Without any starters, the Eagles sent rookie Arrellelo to the mound and he faced M's righty Stults who won rookie of the month twice this year. In what was supposed to be a blowout, nothing happened except pitching. Arrello ended up going 5 IP and no runs while Stults continued with his rookie resume by going 7 IP with no runs. In the end is was 0-0 in the 9th where a hit would win it but Crawford made a running catch to end the innings (This was an amazing outfield, it had Crawford, Ichiro and Endy Chavez) But then fire struck in the 10th when with runners on the corners and 1 out, McClellen hit a bloop walk-off single to give the Eagles their first division win and their first season with a .500 record (The Pirates were able to win their division by going 80-82 in 2009 so I guess it's ok to be a .500 playoff team) Other teams that have won the world series have been the Phillies in 2008, the Marlins in 2009 and the Red Sox in 2010 I might start this tonite but thats only if theres a rain delay for the red sox. |

Oh ya and none of these are created players,i just took a bunch of rookies and turned them into a division winner And this is gonna be like the other logs in a way, but I might just do postseason games, hopefully I'm good enough to make it all of the way BUT my first challenge is a team that won 118 games! |
