Hey all, I'm starting a Franchise log on MLBPP 2008.

I do have individual player edits but not team updates, meaning that K-Rod is really good but he is still on the Angels.

I will only play a couple games and every playoff game. I will sim the rest because my teams stats get a little inflated when I manually play games.

Hope y'all are following

Thanks.

Pre Season 2008

The Reds have a new owner after a disappointing 2007 Season. They have made quite a stir with their new GM, Clayton S. Clayton has just graduated from Harvard with a 4.4 GPA, He has turned down multiple offers for graduate school in order to pursue his passion, baseball
Clayton grew up in Reds country and grew in love with the team. The Reds have had up and down seasons since his birth but overall haven't been terrible.

Clayton will be with the team through the 2010 season with possibilities for an extension.

Clayton is excited and has laid down these promises for the next 3 seasons.
Quote:
1. I will bring a Championship team to Cincinnati
2. I will develop players to bring new youthful talent
3. I will revive the Big Red Machine!

Fans in Cincinnati are doubtful of the kid, as Cincinnati was treated to another dismal Bengals season.

Big Red Machine? Who does this kid think he is?

Baseball isn't all about smarts, it's also about instincts. Does this kid even have the dang instincts?

I have no idea what's going on up there, I just hope I'll get to see young talent run my way for a change.

I like that option in the poll:

Also, I think it's impossible to have a 4.4 GPA. I think the highest is 4.

Season Preview

The Reds have called up Bruce to send down Hatteberg.
Clayton wrote:
I think Bruce needs some MLB playing time. Plus, just between you and me, the fans LOVE him
Clayton told reporters.

The Reds have also Signed Nomo and Dan Johnson.
Clayton wrote:
I love the way Nomo pitches, and he can teach Edinson and Johnny how to disguise their pitches better. He really fits into the 5th slot of our rotation well. Dan Johnson is a pure power hitter and a great opportunity for me to develop a power hitter or a key piece in future trade negotiations
Clayton told reporters.

The Reds have finalized their Starting Lineup according to the Cincinnati Enquirer:
Their Rotation:
    1.Harang
    2.Volquez
    3.Cueto
    4.Arroyo
    5.Nomo
Lineup:
    1.Alex Gonzalez
    2.Joey Votto
    3.Jay Bruce
    4.Adam Dunn
    5.Brandon Phillips
    6.Ken Griffey Jr.
    7.Edwin Encarnacion
    8.David Ross
    9.[Pitcher]

Reds make one last trade before Opener

The Reds have sent lackluster outfielders Corey Patterson and Norris Hopper to Seattle for J.J. Putz and Brandon Morrow.

Clayton wrote:
I can't wait to develop Morrow and Putz as they both have very good potential to be star Closers. Putz has already established himself as one of the best in the league and he can work well with Fransisco Cordero and the rest of our bullpen to develop an intimidating 'pen. I can't wait to see these guys in action.

That's ironic, I just finished up my 2010 Reds season and I plan to retire in 2011. I'd like to see what types of moves you make and we can compare afterwards.

I will be posting my 2011 Reds soon.

Good luck!

I'm excited to see my team out there today. I'm hoping for the best but we are facing a top 5 pitcher in Brandon Webb. I hope my team can figure him out and pull out a win

Reds Lose 5-0 to the D-Backs

Well, we played tough today but we just got shut down by one of the best pitchers in the league. We should recover well, I mean this is only the first game of many more to come

Fantastic realism. That's a very Bavasi-like trade on the M's side.

So were Bavasi's trades . . . but he agreed to them regardless. "All you want for Erik Bedard is future Hall of Famer Adam Jones, LH specialist George Sherrill and 3 of our top pitching prospects? Hell yes!"

April: Week 1

Reds putter to a 1-4 start

They were swept by the D-Backs.

We just got outplayed, outhustled, outpitched. Our players played like this was AAAA. This ain't 4 A ball. But hey it's still early. I see a fire in this team's eyes. We don't want to keep on being mediocre, we can't stand losing. We are changing the culture of this organization.
