I am going to redo my log since for some reason my last one got locked. I'll just re-post what was already posted:
2008 Season Begins -- Can the Cubs Reverse the Curse? It's been 100 years since the Cubs last World Series victory. Can the Cubs end the 100-year drought and reverse the curse? The Cubs are going for a World Series victory this season after going 100 years without one. If they can pull it off, it will be their first World Series victory since 1908 and third in franchise history. We'll just have to see how they do. We had an interview with the new Cubs GM before today's spring training game, about a week before the regular season is about to begin:
"I think the Cubs have a great shot this year," Cubs GM said. "We've gone over what happened last year in the NLDS against the D'Backs, but that was 2007, this is 2008. We can pull it off."
3/24 - Cubs Send Down Pie, Guzman; Call Up Murton, HillThe Cubs have sent center fielder Felix Pie, and right handed relief pitcher Angel Guzman down to AAA in exchange for left fielder Matt Murton and left handed starter Rich Hill.
3/24 - Cubs Acquire Three Free AgentsToday, the Cubs have acquired three players who were free agents. They are not expected to get much or probably any playing time this season until September call-ups, but they are nice to have in case of a major injury:

4/23 - Cubs Acquire Free Agent Hideo NomoThe Cubs have acquired free agent right handed starter Hideo Nomo. Nomo is expected to play some time this season before September. Here's what Cubs GM had to say about his move:
"We got Hideo mainly to relieve the starting pitchers. We don't need him now, but our starters are getting tired, and he WILL start some games later this season for the Cubs, maybe sooner."
4/24 - Cubs Send Down Wuertz; Call Up NomoJust a day after being acquired by the Cubs after being a free agent and our chat with Cubs GM, Hideo Nomo has been called up to the major league ball club. To make room for Nomo on the team, the Cubs have sent down right handed relief pitcher Michael Wuertz.
4/30 - Cubs Kick Off '08 With a BangAfter winning every game since the season began, the Cubs obviously currently have the best record in major league baseball at 27-0. Here's Cubs GM's words on how the Cubs have been doing so far:
"They've been playing fantastic ball. That's all I've got to say. Our pitchers have been pitching, and our hitters have been hitting. It's as simple as that. And the players are feeling really good, too. They've been getting along and having a great time out there."
5/4 - Glaus the Hero as Cubs Suffer First LossThe Cubs have suffered their first loss of the season after being 30-0 to start the season. With the Cubs leading 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth, Kerry Wood blew the save as Troy Glaus blasted a walk-off come-from-behind two-run homer into the left field bleachers giving the Cards the 2-3 victory and the Cubs first loss of the season. Here's Cubs GM's words:
"Our hitters just didn't have it today. Our starter did fantastic as you can tell only giving up one run, but our hitters are better than that to only score two runs. It's OK, it's only one loss. We'll get right back on track after this."
5/13 - Cubs Acquire Nady, Bautista, Doumit from Pirates in Blockbuster StealThe Cubs have acquired first baseman/right fielder Xavier Nady, third baseman/center fielder Jose Bautista, and catcher/first baseman/right fielder Ryan Doumit from the Pirates in a blockbuster trade. Not only was it a blockbuster trade, it was a steal as they acquired all three of these players for minor league first baseman Dan Johnson. To make room for the three players on the roster, the Cubs have sent second baseman Mike Fontenot, catcher Henry Blanco, and left fielder Matt Murton down to AAA:

5/24 - Marquis Placed on 15-Day DL; Cubs Call Up JamesAfter leaving the game in the middle of the seventh inning on Saturday against the Pirates, Jason Marquis has been placed on the 15-day DL for elbow pain. Taking his place while he is out is LHP Chuck James. Many people are looking forward to seeing how the twenty-six year old left hander will do.
5/26 - Soriano Hits for CycleCubs left fielder Alfonso Soriano hit for the cycle in today's game against the Dodgers. He capped it off in the 8th inning with an opposite field line drive right between the center fielder and right fielder that ended up rolling to the wall in right center field.
5/31 - Johnson Hits for CycleCubs center fielder Reed Johnson hit for the cycle today against the Rockies. It is the second cycle hit on the team this season as you remember Alfonso Soriano hit for the cycle less than a week before. Johnson started with a homer in the second, a triple in the fourth, a double in the fifth, and a single in the seventh as the Cubs murdered the Rockies 4-20.
5/31 - Cubs Still Blooming in MaySuffering their first loss of the season in the month of May, the Cubs got right back on their feet and haven't lost a game yet, going 28-1 in the month, 25-0 since their single loss, and 55-1 total for the season. Here's Cubs GM's words on how the team has done in the month of May and what to expect from them the rest of the season:
"They're still playing great baseball. That one loss in St. Louis is like the smallest pimple in the world, just a minor blemish. I have no doubt in my mind this is the year for the Cubs. We might improve the team later on with trades, but for now, we're working with the great team we've got."
6/10 - Cubs Acquire McDaniel, Song from DraftThe draft was held today and the Cubs have acquired first baseman McDaniel, and LHP Song. Let's hope to see great things come from both of these players some day. We could even see them as soon as this September when rosters expand:

6/10 - Cubs Acquire Free Agent MerrillAs you know, the draft was held today, but for some youngsters who were in the draft, it didn't go so well and they didn't get drafted by a team. Well that happened to RHP Merrill, but a short time after the draft was finished, the Cubs took him as a free agent and he is stoked to be a part of a major league franchise.

6/11 - Marquis Returns from DL; Cubs Send Down JamesMarquis returns from his 15-DL today, and the Cubs are sending LHP Chuck James back down to AAA who made two starts and got two wins in his short time with the major league ball club this season so far. Marquis is set to pitch in two days on Friday in Toronto.
6/13 - Soriano On 15-Day DL; Cubs Call Up MurtonAlfonso Soriano, who got injured on a slide into home plate today and taken out early as the Cubs beat the Blue Jays 9-5, has been placed on the 15-day DL for a broken collarbone. Doctors say it will take longer than 15 days to heal though. Taking Soriano's place on the team and in left field until Soriano returns is Matt Murton. I guess Friday the thirteenth really is an unlucky day, especially for these Cubs who are having a bit of bad luck keeping their players healthy this season.
6/21 - Walk-Off in Windy City Wild One as Cubs Come Out on Top in ExtrasToday, the Cubs got their 74th victory of the season in dramatic fashion against the White Sox in game two of the windy city classic on the north side. Carlos Zambrano was the starter for the Cubs going 5 innings giving up two runs and throwing..... well a lot of pitches. With the game tied 2-2 in the seventh, Carlos Marmol gave up 4 runs to the White Sox and it seemed all hope had faded for a Cubs victory. The Cubs ended up scoring one run in the bottom of the seventh and again in the bottom of the eighth. With the Cubs still down 6-4 going into the bottom of the ninth, the Cubs scored two more runs and tied it up 6-6. Kosuke Fukudome got the game-winning hit in the bottom of the tenth driving home Ramirez who was on second giving the Cubs the 7-6 victory.
6/30 - Fukudome Hits for Cycle Againist GiantsFukudome hit for the cycle today against the Giants in San Francisco. Fukudome completed his cycle hit in the top of the ninth inning with a single that he easily could have stretched into a double, but why keep going when your team is up by nine runs? This is the third cycle hit for the Cubs this season with Soriano being the first and Johnson second. The weird thing here is that it's going in order. Cubs left fielder Soriano first, center fielder Johnson second, and now right fielder Fukudome. If any other cycle hits this season, who will be next? Jason Marquis also starred in this game going seven innings giving up no runs on two hits as the Cubs beat the Giants 10-1.
7/1 - Cedeno the Hero for Comeback CubsThe Cubs won today in comeback fashion against the Giants. Barry Zito who had been dominating the Cubs the whole game, came back onto the mound to complete the game and a 3-2 Giants victory, but everything went downhill from there. With two outs and a runner on third base in the bottom of the ninth, Ronny Cedeno who is usually a bench player and filling in for Mark DeRosa came up to bat and drove in Geovany Soto with an opposite field single to right tying the game at 3-3. The Cubs ended up scoring two more times in that inning as the Cubs beat the Giants 5-3. Carlos Marmol got the win and Kerry Wood got his eleventh save of the season.
7/2 - Cubs Place Lee on 15-Day DL; Call Up FontenotDerrek Lee has been placed on the 15-Day DL due to a broken collarbone suffered when he slid into second base attempting to steal. He was safe, but suffered the injury and was taken out instantly.
"This injury will take more than fifteen days to heal, I assure you." Said the doctor treating Derrek's injury.
The Cubs have called up second baseman Mike Fontenot back to the team who was with them when the season began. This is the third player to be on the DL for the Cubs this season, Alfonso Soriano still currently on the DL from a similar injury last month. Cubs fans are now pleading for some trades to be made.
7/5 - Cubs Call Up James; Send Down NomoThe Cubs have sent right handed pitcher Hideo Nomo down to AAA and brought back up lefty Chuck James. "There is nothing wrong with Nomo" says Cubs GM, "Nomo was just getting tired and we needed a fresher arm. Nomo WILL be back very soon. We just have too many good players and not enough room for all of them on the roster."
7/8 - Cubs Acquire Kemp From DodgersThe Cubs have acquired outfielder Matt Kemp from the Dodgers today. The Cubs traded right handed relief pitcher Michael Wuertz to the Dodgers. Kemp should be up with the team playing very shortly and the players and fans are very excited to see him play in a Cubs uniform.

7/8 - Cubs Call Up Kemp; Send Down MurtonKemp, who was just acquired by the Cubs will be taking the place of Matt Murton on the roster. Murton, who was playing as the every day left fielder replacing the injured Alfonso Soriano has been sent down to AAA. There are rumors going around that Murton may be traded some time this month before the trade deadline, but no one is certain for sure.
7/15 - Cubs Acquire Cain, Lincecum from GiantsThe Cubs have acquired right handed starting pitchers Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum from the Giants today in a blockbuster trade. The Cubs traded left fielder Matt Murton to the Giants for both of them. They are both expected to be on the major league roster following the All-Star break.

7/15 - Cubs Bring Up Cain, Lincecum; Send Down James, MarshallTo make room for the newly acquired Cain and Lincecum on the roster, the Cubs have sent down left handed pitchers Chuck James and Sean Marshall to AAA. This now unfortunately means there is only one left handed pitcher in the Cubs bullpen (Scott Eyre), and three left handed pitchers overall on the roster.
7/15 - NL Falls to AL in Midsummer Classic Yet AgainThe National League has lost once again to the American League in the midsummer classic All-Star game by a final score of 3-2. The National League struck first with two runs in the top of the first, but the American League came back with back-to back homers off Zach Duke in the bottom of the sixth. Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run shot to tie it, and Vladimir Guerrero followed with a solo shot to take the lead, and no one else scored the rest of the game. The Cubs made their presence known with four starters: Aramis Ramirez, Kosuke Fukudome, Geovany Soto, and Carlos Zambrano the starting pitcher. Other Cubs Ryan Theriot, Mark DeRosa, and Reed Johnson also got into the game later. Carlos Marmol and Bob Howry were in the bullpen, but were never used. Now if the Cubs make it to the World Series, they will not have home field advantage.
7/17 - Soriano Returns; Cubs Send Down KempAlfonso Soriano has fully recovered from his broken collarbone that he suffered last month. He is back on the roster and should be ready to play tomorrow, the first game since the All-Star break. The Cubs have sent down outfielder Matt Kemp to AAA to make room for Soriano on the roster.
7/25 - Lincecum Comes Close to a 20 Strikeout GameTim Lincecum nearly made history today in just his second start in a Cubs uniform striking out seventeen Marlins over seven and two-thirds innings. He was taken out in the eighth due to elbow pain, and never got a chance to finish off the game and the two-hit shutout he had carried that far into the game.
7/26 - Hill Placed on 15-Day DL; Cubs Call Up NomoCubs left handed starting pitcher Rich Hill has been placed on the 15-Day DL with elbow pains. Hill left today's game in the middle of the sixth inning, and was examined by a doctor. The Cubs have called up right handed pitcher Hideo Nomo to take the place of Hill while he is out.
7/27 - Soto Hits For Cycle Against MarlinsCubs catcher Geovany Soto hit for the cycle today against the Florida Marlins in Chicago today. The Cubs have had three other cycle hits this season by the Cubs outfield: Alfonso Soriano, Reed Johnson, and Kosuke Fukudome. Soto began with a homer in the second, then a triple in the fourth, then a single in the seventh, and finishing it off with a double in the eighth inning.
7/31 - Cubs Turn Up the Heat in JulyThe Cubs truly did turn up the heat this past month, going 26-0 for the month of July, the second consecutive perfect month this season. The Cubs made a couple of big trades during the month, and the final trades of the season for the Cubs. The Cubs acquired outfielder Matt Kemp from the Dodgers back on July 8th, and in the trade of the century (pun intended), acquiring Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain from the Giants both for left fielder Matt Murton. Hopefully, the Cubs continue their hot streak when they get to the playoffs as they obviously will with a record of 108-0 and a magic number of 9 heading into the month of August. Let's see what they can accomplish this month.
8/4 - Lee Returns; Cubs Send Down FontenotCubs first baseman Derrek Lee returns from his stay on the DL today after breaking his collarbone back on July 2nd, more than a month ago. To make room for him back on the roster, the Cubs have sent back down second baseman Mike Fontenot. Lee is expected to make his return playing in tonight's game against the Astros at Wrigley.
8/6 - Cubs ClinchThe Cubs have clinched the National League Central division crown! Currently, with a record of 114-1, they are going to the playoffs. for the second consecutive season for the first time in one hundred years! Can they pull it off and win the World Series for the first time since 1908? We'll find out when October comes around. With it still being August, there is plenty more baseball to be played.
8/9 - Cain's Bid At History Broken Up in the NinthMatt Cain just missed a perfect game today against the St. Louis Cardinals. He pitched eight complete innings of perfect game ball when Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina blooped a soft lead-off single into center field breaking up the perfect game, and the only hit for the Cardinals in the game. Cain was then taken out and Kerry Wood took care of the last three outs protecting a one-run lead as the Cubs beat the Cardinals 1-0.
Phew.... now people don't screw this one up! Thank you....
