Sacramento Slayers 7 - Nashville Raiders 6

SUMMARY: The Slayers came out swinging to prove that their previous series against the Raiders was just a fluke. Ben Zobrist started the scoring off with a 2-run homer into center field in the top of the first, scoring Martin Prado, who had led off the game with a double. In the bottom of the 4th now, 2 men on, with the score being 5-2, third baseman Robert Livingson poked a fly ball over the short porch in left field to tie the game up at 5. Mike Morse would give the Slayers the lead in the following inning with a solo HR to center field, but in the bottom half of the next inning, the 6th, second baseman Ian Kendall tied the game up again with a single into right center field. Morse would come through again in the top of the 7th with his 3rd home run of the game, and the Slayers bullpen led the rest of the way to earn the Slayers their 10th win of the season.

4-20-08 (heh...4/20)

Sacramento Slayers 9 - Nashville Raiders 3

SUMMARY: The Slayers keep on rolling, sweeping the Nashville Raiders with a 9-3 victory. The main story of the game was C.J. Wilson. He extended his hot start with an amazing performance, throwing 8 strong innings and getting his 3rd win of the season. The Slayers are getting a lot closer to the division lead.

STATS:

I clicked OK on accident before looking at the stats. My bad.

The Slayers go for the division lead against the rival Phoenix Cobras. This should be a great series.

UPCOMING SERIES

Sacramento Slayers (12-7) vs Phoenix Cobras (11-7)

The Slayers have overtaken the Cobras for first place in the NL West, and if they win this series, they'll more than likely keep that lead. It's only a 2-game series, and the Cobras will send out their two worst pitchers. Basically, things aren't looking all that bad for the Slayers, though they won't be the home team for this series. Anyways, here are the Cobras players to watch out for:

Keaton McBride, 2B, #3, R/R, 29 years old
3 TRJ, A CON, B PWR, B RUN SPD, B ARM STR, A FLD, B E RES
GM REPORT: We've already seen what he can do. He currently leads the Majors in batting average at .486, so he's still red-hot.

Edgar Tomlinson, C, #21, R/R, 30 years old
4 TRJ, C CON, B PWR, D RUN SPD, B ARM STR, B FLD, C E RES
GM REPORT: Tomlinson has been the Cobras' best hitter not named McBride. He leads the Cobras in HR (7) and RBI (21). He did very well against Slayers pitching in the last series, so neutralizing his power will definitely be one of the keys to this series.

Alan Stanridge, SP, #43, R/R, 33 years old
91 TOP SPD, E CTRL, A STAM, SLD 3, CUT 4, CHG 2
GM REPORT: Stanridge is only here because 1. He starts game 1 of the series. and 2. He did well against us the last time he faced us. Stanridge gets plenty of groundballs and is greas with runners in scoring position, but lefties tee off him and he typically starts off games badly.

PROJECTED PITCHING MATCHUP:

Game 1: B. Morrow (0-1, 7.71) vs. A. Stanridge (1-1, 4.22)
Game 2: J. Jurrjens (2-1, 3.33) vs. H. Thomas (2-0, 10.80)

This is more than likely the most important series of the month for the Slayers. If they can win this series, it will give them a great boost for sure.
