PHILADELPHIA -- The Royals have won game one of the World Series and are three wins away from being world champions. This game was all Royals, scoring five runs over the nine innings. They scored three in the first on a two-run homer by Nick Johnson followed by a solo shot by Khalil Greene. Mark Teahen added another in the fifth with an RBI double, and Billy Butler drove in the last run with a sac fly in the ninth. Dewayne Basner pitched seven shutout innings for a World Series win in game one.

October 24, 2013

PHILADELPHIA -- The balls were really flying out of the park today in a Royals win over the Phillies in game two. The Royals slugged their way to a victory on their way back home to hopefully finish off the World Series. Mark Teahen began this slugfest in the first with a solo homer. David DeJesus and Nick Johnson hit solo shots as well, one in the third and another in the fourth to put the Royals up by three. Jayson Werth got the Phillies going in the fifth with an RBI double and Jack Hannahan followed with an RBI double as well to make it a one-run game. Then the Royals started pulling away with another three runs in the sixth on a two-run homer by Nick Johnson and a solo shot by Khalil Greene. The Phillies finally got in on the power with two homers in the bottom of the sixth, solo blasts by Jose Reyes and Aaron Rowand, but that would be the end of the Phillies scoring. The Royals added another three in the eighth with an RBI double by Felipe Lopez and a two-run jack by Mark Teahen. Luke Umbria ended this game of power with a solo homer in the ninth as the Royals win game two by six runs.

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals are one win away from sweeping the Phillies and winning the World Series!The Royals scored one run in each of the first three innings to account for all the scoring in this game. Mark Teahen jacked a solo homer in the first, Billy Butler crushed a solo shot in the second, and Nick Johnson knocked an RBI single in the third, and that was it. Kyle Davies pitched a complete game shutout, paving the way for the possible championship victory tomorrow with Gil Meche on the mound.

October 27, 2013

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals were unable to complete the sweep as they got dominated today in an all out pitcher's duel. Gil Meche pitched five shutout innings before having to exit the game with an injury when Jose Reyes lined one back to him. Anthony Ziegler came in and pitched well until giving up a solo home run to Geoff Jenkins in the ninth to give the Phillies the lead. Zach Duke dominated the Royals, pitching a complete game shutout to extend the series to game five.

KANSAS CITY -- THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS OF BASEBALL FOR 2013!!!!!!!!! The Royals have won the World Series for the second time in three years with an amazing team balanced with veterans and youngsters. It was an amazing season and all their hard work paid off. In this game, the Royals started out down with Geoff Jenkins hitting a solo home run in the second and Chase Utley adding another with his own solo shot in the third. It seemed the Royals weren't going to score anything off Kyle Kendrick, who was dominating this game. Then they started to get something going in the sixth. Felipe Lopez plated a run with a single, and then, of course, Mark Teahen made the big blow, launching a three-run homer to right to put the Royals up by two. Kelvim Escobar pitched eight strong innings, then handed the ball of to Joakim Soria to close out the World Series. After getting the first two outs, he got an 0-1 count on Greg Dobbs. Dobbs hit a weak dribbler down the right field line, fielded by Nick Johnson who took it to the bag at first himself to end the series and lock up the win for the Royals!
