David DeJesus broke the tie in the eleventh with a sacrifice fly to center that brought in a run. Joakim Soria came on in the bottom of the inning and closed out the game and the series.

Later, Felipe Lopez ripped an RBI triple, Mark Teahen made it a one-run game with an RBI single, and Nick Johnson tied it with an RBI double. OAKLAND -- The Royals managed to avoid the sweep and won game five of the ALCS in Oakland. Chris Conti jacked a solo shot in the third, Alex Gordon ripped an RBI double in the fourth, Nick Johnson smashed a solo homer in the sixth, David DeJesus hit a solo shot in the seventh, and Nick Johnson hit a second solo blast in the eighth to account for six Royals runs in this game. Ricky Dinas went back out in the ninth to complete the game. He got two quick outs, but then Vladimir Guerrero reached when he hit a hard liner at third in which Alex Gordon dropped as an error. On the very next pitch, Pat Burrell launched a two-run shot to left. Dinas was still able to finish the game and get the win.

Yeah, it'd be pretty pathetic if you got swept after a season like this.

Now this post is pointless. Thanks Chicubs.

ALCS - Oakland Athletics (3-2) @ Kansas City Royals (2-3): Game 6
October 20, 2013

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals have come back from being down three games to none to force a game seven in this league championship series! They powered their way to win tonight behind another dominant pitching performance by Gil Meche and tons of runs. Their first of three really big innings was the first in which David DeJesus lead-off with a solo homer, and after Felipe Lopez got on base, Mark Teahen jacked a two-run shot. Khalil Greene made it a four-run lead in the fourth with a solo shot to left. Then the Royals had a four-run fifth in which Mark Teahen ripped a two-run triple, Nick Johnson hit an RBI double, and Billy Butler smacked an RBI single. Just when you thought the Royals couldn't possibly score more, they come up with a six-run seventh. Mark Teahen jacked a three-run homer, Billy Butler hit an RBI double, and Alex Gordon crushed a two-run shot to complete the Royals' fourteen run game. Gil Meche was sure thankful for all the support even though he only needed one of the fourteen runs to win, pitching a complete game shutout; his second of this postseason.

Just so you all know, I haven't changed the difficulty since the start of the postseason. Before starting the playoffs, I lowered CPU batting from lock-on 2 to normal, but I haven't changed anything since.

October 21, 2013

KANSAS CITY -- THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS HAVE COME ALL THE WAY BACK FROM A 3-0 DEFICIT TO WIN THE AMERICAN LEAGUE PENNANT! The Royals are moving on to the World Series in a game with an epic finish! The game started out scoreless until the fourth when Sherrod gave the A's the lead with an RBI single. Billy Butler tied it in the fifth with a solo shot to center, but Pat Burrell gave the A's the lead again late in the eighth with his own solo shot. The game went to the ninth with the Royals down by one and it didn't look good for them. David DeJesus grounded out to start the inning, two outs to go for the A's. Then Felipe Lopez lined a single into center and the Royals had something going. All of a sudden, Mark Teahen got a hold of a high fastball, and hit it high and deep to center towards the jumbo screen. The ball barely made it over the wall for a come-from-behind walk-off two-run homer to end the game 3-2 and send the Royals on to the World Series!
