Washington Nationals (33-38) @ Minnesota Twins (38-32)
June 17th, 2008

Minneapolis -- The Nationals win today and gain momentum in mid-June. Andrew Cashner recorded his 4th career save today, in the Nationals 3-2 victory in interleague play today over the Twins. Jon Lester pitched 6 and 2/3 innings today, allowing 2 runs on 13 hits, striking out only 5 batters, getting a no decision. On the other side, Scott Baker pitched a beautiful game, going 7 innings allowing 2 runs on 7 hits, while a striking out 11. Jason Isringhausen got the loss, giving up 1 unearned run on a dropped fly ball by Carlos Gomez to lose the game. Nick Johnson supported the Nats offense going 1-4 with one real RBI and one spiritual RBI. Michael Cuddyer was the face of the Twins today as he went 3-5 with a double and an RBI.

Nationals acquire Mark Ellis in blockbuster trade

Washington -- June 20th, 2008, the Washington Nationals have acquired Andrew Brown, Ryan Sweeney, and Mark Ellis from the Oakland Athletics for 2B Ronnie Belliard and Dmitri Young. 27-year old reliever Andrew Brown (94 DE 3SLD 1CB 4CHG) has been sent to the MLB, sending Saul Rivera down to AAA, and Mark Ellis (3DBCECB) and Aaron Boone have been called up to the MLB, and Ryan Sweeney (2DFDEFD) will play for AAA Harrisburgh.

Brown was an excellent reliever for me with the Country. Although he never made it past "set up man" with me, I think that once he gets his slider up to level four and his curve to level two, he is closer material. I nicknamed him "fireman brown" because of how well he did, coming in with runners on base in the late innings
