ALDS - Tampa Bay Rays (1-0) @ Kansas City Royals (0-1): Game 2
October 6, 2012

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals are on the brink of elimination already down 2-0 in this series against the Rays. Marlon Byrd got things started in this one with a two-run single in the first. Khalil Greene tied it in the second with a two-run homer. Then the Rays got their power going. B.J. Upton belted a two-run homer in the third, and Carlos Pena jacked a three-run bomb in the fourth to give the Rays a five-run lead. Khalil Greene got an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to reduce the deficit. Both teams got a run in the eighth, and the game ended with a Rays win by four runs. The Rays go for the sweep on Monday here at Kauffman Stadium.

KANSAS CITY -- The Tampa Bay Rays are headed to the ALCS in a series that seemed to have everything go their way and against the Royals. Everything seemed to be going the Royals way at first in this game. Mark Teahen belted a two-run homer in the first and David DeJesus hit an RBI single in the second to go up by three. Then the Rays stormed back with five in the third on an RBI single by Carl Crawford, RBI triple by Akinori Iwamura, RBI double by B.J. Upton, and a two-run single by Marlon Byrd. Nick Johnson belted a solo homer in the bottom of the inning to make it a one-run game, and tied it in the sixth with another solo shot. John Buck gave the Royals the lead later in the inning grounding into a double play that scored a run from third to make it 6-5 Royals. But then the Rays went and got another five runs in the seventh. Akinori Iwamura hit an RBI double, Willy Aybar got a two-run double, and Marlon Byrd belted a two-run homer. Mark Teahen got one last run for the Royals in the seventh with an RBI double,and the Rays added two more in the eighth with RBI hits by Akinori Iwamura and Nathan Haynes as the Rays pummel the Royals and go on to the Championship Series.

They just whooped my butt, badly. I couldn't pitch to Carlos Pena at all, everyone else kept getting hits in the gaps for doubles and triples, and their pitchers kept throwing pitches as close to the edge of the strike zone as you can get and getting the strike call.

It seems 1 team always dominates the Gold Gloves on this game. I had a Brewers season, where the Yankees had all the AL except for 1 or 2 positions. How do they base gold glove on this game? Is it flashy plays, low errors/high fielding percentage, or a combination?

Royals Sign Snead

The Royals have signed twenty-four year old rookie third baseman Justin Snead to a three year contract worth 530 points. He has potential in power and will hopefully see major league time soon.
