Then it's definitely not Homer Bailey...

Anyways, have you traded Doumit or something? Sorry, haven't been following recently.

Ok, good. I haven't been seeing his name a lot, so i got worried. At least Glanville seems to be doing well. How about Milledge? Is he still on the team?

Pirates June In Review

The Pirates had their worst month of the season at 14-13, which is good considering that they lost Zach Duke, Aaron Cook and still have Karstens on the disabled list in June. Glanville and Vazquez did good jobs but Glanville's performance was a breakout one. The Pirates went 9-6 so far in interleague play for June and have 3 more games against the Red Sox and then interleague play is over. Garrett Jones kind of struggled and Ronny Cedeno just plummeted his average down .60 or so points in June. But the great part was Jayson Werth hitting 10 homeruns in June and Street was absolutely amazing in June in what might have been his best month ever(more news on Street is below).

Street wins Monthly Award
Huston Street had barely any saves and an ERA around 5 going into June but everything changed. He won relief pitcher of the month for the National League. Street did not allow any runs in June while saving 11 games for the Pirates. He only struck out 3 in that span which is rare but you can't argue the results.

1B/RF - Pearce : .318 AVG, 6 HR, 17 RBI

I was wrong about Bailey's age, he's really 23(I was looking at Great Aybar)

But Buck is having a below average year and is slow with a bad arm. Pearce isnt much better defensivly but he has a great bat. But Buck on the bench isnt that good because he's not versatile
Cedeno is having a bad year but is great defensivly(A arm, B fielding, B E Res) While Vazquez is having a good without being good defensivly

I think I need to trade Buck at some point

Big Innings Help Sox Prevent Sweep

July 3 -- The Pirates had trouble keeping the Red Sox limited damage but 3 big innings for Boston helped seal a win in this high scoring game. The Pirates had a 3-0 lead against Brad Penny but in the 4th, the Red Sox rallied against Glanville with a 2-run single by Pedroia and a 2-run homerun by former Pirates Jason Bay who made his first return to PNC Park earlier this series. The Red Sox had a 8-3 lead in the 7th inning but the Pirates once again rallied to make it close and made it 8-6. Huston Street struggled for the first time since May trying to keep the Red Sox to no runs in the 9th inning. A lead-off homerun by Ellsbury made it 9-6 and Victor Martinez really finished it off with a 2-run homerun. The Pirates rallied for one more in the 9th but that wasn't enough in the interleague play finisher and finish off the series with the two top teams in the majors.

Pirates Aquire Bailey From Reds
Image
The Pirates got a bright young star in 23-year old RHP Homer Bailey today. The Pirates parted ways with young catcher Suarez who was a draft pick by the Bucs a few years ago, but more importantly the Pirates also traded away Travis Buck as part of this deal. Buck was aquired back on May 1, 2009 from the Athletics for SS Valenzual and LHP John Grabow, this will be Buck's third team. Bailey will work on control in AAA but may be called up to replace Karstens who you never know what could happen to. And with this move, RF/1B Steve Pearce will bat 6th and play right field with Doumit sliding down a spot in the order.

Karstens Back From DL, Glanville sent down and Young back up
RHP Jeff Karstens returned from the DL today and to make room with him Ross Glanville will be sent down to AAA Indianapolis. To make room for the traded Buck, LF/RF Delwynn Young will be called up, he got to B run speed in his time in AAA.

In the offseason, make sure to give Bailey a V-SLD or something.

Let me see if I remember.. The tough parts about draft picks are that if they were picked awhile ago then you don't know what they're like

Glanville: D control, C stamina., 93 mph, slider 2, curve 3, fork 3

Sanchez would like to thank god for the wonderful team he is currently playing for, the excellent defense, offense, pitching staff, manager, owner, and of course the fantastic GM.

Lee's big day not enough against Pearce and Bucs

July 9 -- The Pirates won the first game of the season against the Cubs at the place where the Pirates have struggled alot, Wrigley Field. The Pirates got to a 2-0 lead with a 2-run homerun for Amezaga against Zambrano in the 2nd inning. Karstens has struggled since he's gotten of the DL and he might've saved his spot with his good start tonite. He got into trouble in the 6th though when Bradley singled in a run and Fukudome also singled in a run to tie the game. The Pirates scored 2 more in the 7th inning with solo homeruns by Andrew McCutchen and Steve Pearce. The Pirates bullpen struggled in the 8th inning though when up 4-2. Yates let up a homerun to Derek Lee, his 4th hit of the day, to make it 4-3 and Milton Bradley tied the game with his homerun off of Neshek. But in the 9th, Steve Pearce put the Pirates on top with a solo homerun of Cotts, his 2nd of the day. The Pirates would score 1 more run though but in the 9th, McCutchen dived and missed a ball so Miles led off the 9th with a triple and would score 2 hitters later on a bad idea on Fontenot to go home. But the lead looked soon to evaporated as Lee and his 4 hits stood at the plate down by 1 in the 9th innings with runners on 1st and 2nd, but Street came up big and got Derek Lee to ground into a game ending double play.
