Boston: 3 (12-14)

W - Koji Uehara 1-0 4.35 ERA
L - Ryan Cook 1-3 4.76 ERA

Boston -- Jarrod Parker pitched an absolute gem for the Athletics tonight, but it fell just a bit too short, ending the A's 5-game winning streak. Parker pitched 8 full frames, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, striking out 12. For the Sox, Buchholz pitched 7 and 2/3 allowing 0 runs on 2 hits, striking out 7, but Koji Uehara blew the save so Buchholz got a no decision. For the A's, Coco Crisp had the most hits, going 2-4. The RBI came from Yoenis Cespedes on a groundout. For the Redsox, A.J. Pierzynski and Will Middlebrooks supplied the majority of the offense combining for 4 hits, and all 3 RBI's. The A's hope A.J. Griffin can keep the A's winning record alive with a win tomorrow.

2 Expansion teams. You and Rangers both need to read the first page.

Boston -- The A's were barely able to squeak out the win in Boston tonight. They took a 3-0 lead in the third, but almost lost it in the sixth and seventh after A.J. Griffin had a tremendous outing. Doolittle was able to come through for the save, his 5th, holding on to the one run lead. can you give us (me) updates on how our (my) created players are doing, please?

edit: this isn't supposed to sound selfish. I'm the only one that made any players so saying "us" and "our" really just means "me" and "my"

It looks like the Athletics have thrived off of their pitching so far in this 2014 campaign, but they should need to rely a little more upon their bats in the coming months. Some things the A's need to focus on are playing small ball and trying to steal some more bases. Those have been their weak points on offense this year, as they seem to have stranded a lot of runners. If they can get some of these runs home, they won't have to rely upon their bullpen which has performed quite poor so far this year.

Game 4 @ Boston
May 1st, 2014

Image

Oakland: 3 (16-13)
Boston: 2 (12-17)

W - Jim Johnson 2-0
L - Andrew Miller 1-3
S - Sean Doolittle (7)
HR - Will Middlebrooks (6), Josh Donaldson (8)

Boston -- Game 4 of the series was another very nice game to watch, it was a nail biter through and through. Middlebrooks got it going for the Sox with a two-run bomb in the 2nd, but that was all the offense they had planned for the night as Sonny Gray, Fernando Abad, Jim Johnson, and Sean Doolittle were dominant for the last seven innings. On the other hand, Peavy was rock solid to start the game but fell apart in the 5th losing the lead and leaving his legacy to Andrew Miller. Josh Donaldson contributed a solo homer to take the lead in the 8th that would end up being the winning run. Doolittle pitched a rare, perfect, ninth inning, en route to his seventh save of the year.
