Mendenhals Win Extra Inning Thriller For First Win of Existence

VANCOUVER, B.C., CANADA - The Mendenhals got their first ever win today against the New York Yankees, winning in 10 innings, 5-4.

The scoring started quick, as Curtis Granderson launched a HR (1) 439 feet into the right field bleachers in the 1st inning, giving the Yanks an early 1-0 lead against starter maccrash21.

In the bottom of the 4th, the Mens got that run right back, with 2 on and 2 out, Scuba Steve blooped a single just over the head of Derek Jeter, scoring Tim Inidator, tying the game at one a piece. They would then take the lead in the bottom of the 6th, as Daniel Potter slapped a solo HR (1) over the center field wall to make it 2-1 Mens.

The lead would continue into the 9th. maccrash was cruising along, and was sent back out for the 9th inning, while getting a bit tired in the process. With 2 outs in the 9th and a runner on, Mark Teixeira quieted down the croud with a 2-run HR (2) to right field, giving them a 3-2 lead. They would add one more on a Nick Swisher RBI single, scoring Brett Gardner, who was running for Andruw Jones after he got a triple to left-center after Teixeira's bomb. The run was scored off reliever Steve Durham.

Mariano Rivera came on to try to close out the game, but the Mendenhals would not give up so easily. After Jack Suezo, pinch-hitting for Yuudai Aoi, got a walk to start off the 9th, 2 outs were recorded by Rivera, both on the strikeout, but Will Adams launched a double into the power alley in left-center, scoring pinch-runner Darren Escobar, cutting the lead down to 1. The next batter, Steve Bernard, would get his only hit of the game, but it would be a big one, just missing a HR off the left-center field wall, but it was a double nonetheless, scoring Adams, and tying the game at 4 a piece.

Steve Durham held the Yanks scoreless in the top of the 10th, but the first batter of the bottom of the 10th, Tim Inidator, would blast a walk-off home run (1) into the right field bullpen, off of reliever David Robertson, giving the Mens a dramatic 5-4 walk-off victory.
