Massives Take Care of Tigers, Relief Pitching Struggles Again
April 24, 2008- The Massives beat the second place Tigers today in Detroit, but barely, due to struggling relief pitching again. We'll tell you how it happened. The Massives jumped out to an early lead again, which has become quite a trend for them. RBI singles by Griffin, LaRue, and Adams gave them an early 3-0 lead after 2 innings. In the 3rd, the heart of the order produced, with singles by Gordon and Phillips, and then a 3 run shot by Terry to score them all and make it 6-0. Ivan Rodriguez put the Tigers on the board, with a 2 RBI double in the 4th, to make it 6-2. In the 5th, Granderson hit a leadoff double, but was easily thrown out at 3rd by LaRue, while trying to steal. A chance to score was ruined for the Tigers. In the 9th, Gordon hit a solo homer to boost the lead to 7-2, luckily for the Massives. In the bottom of the 9th, Monarch was brought in, even though it wasn't a save situation. Manager BrewersFuzz said that, "We need him to get used to pitching in the 9th, and not giving up runs. It looks like he still needs that practice." So anyway, this is how it went down. After giving up 2 singles without getting an out, Monarch gave up a 2 RBI double to Thames. Rentaria did the same thing with 1 out, to make the score 7-6. Thankfully Monarch settled down enough then to get the last 2 outs. He declined an interview after the game. We did talk to Rick LaRue though. "I don't know why people keep trying to steal on us. I think I have the best arm in the majors, but people just don't respect that. That's fine with me though, as I can throw them out any day." So, our next game covered will be on May 1st, again against the Tigers, this time at home. Thomas Carter is due to start. Until then, see ya!

I don't know why, but Monarch gets hammered when I pitch with him. :(

Which is why I'm glad Monarch was taken. :P

Just one small gripe about the writing -- there's really no need to say "This is how it happened" or "We'll tell you how it went down." It's really just fluff!

Otherwise, I am really enjoying this log still. NEVER STOP! :P

Alright, I don't want you guys to think I forgot about this. I played a game this morning, and it was a good, close game. No time to type an update though. I can't update this weekend either, I'm way too busy. But, expect a couple updates on Monday and Tuesday.

THIS IS NOT DEAD... YET. I'm just kidding, I kinda have hopes to take this one more than 1 season. :D

Massives Comeback Not Enough in Extras
May 1, 2008- The Massives suffered a rare loss today, as their starting pitching struggled instead of the relief. The Tigers struck first, in the top of the 2nd, when Carlos Guillen hit a solo homer to give his team an early 1-0 lead. The Tigers had a huge inning in the 4th, with RBI singles by Guillen and Rentaria, and RBI double by Ordonez, and a 3 run homer by Thames to make it 7-0, Tigers. The Massives finally answered back in the bottom of the 4th, when Amarillo Phillips hit a 2 run homer to make it 7-2. The game was uneventful for a little while then, until the 8th. Terry started things off with an RBI single, followed by a Nishikawa 3 run homer, and then a LaRue solo homer to tie it at 7-7. Nobody scored in the 9th, taking it to extras. In the 10th, Ivan Rodriguez hit an RBI double to make it 8-7, Tigers. The Massives were unable to answer in the bottom half, and suffered a loss. We talked with Jamal Nishikawa after the game. "Yeah, I hit the ball really well today, getting 4 hits. But, nobody else was able to bring me in, and the only time I scored was on that big homer. I guess all I can do is keep playing well." Our next game is on May 9th, versus the Orioles. Rich Thrower is making the start. Until then, see ya!

I play every 7th game. The rest I simulate. The ones I type updates on are the ones I play.

I don't care what you do. Just do what you want, and what you think is right.

Massives Win Close Game, Pull Ahead at End
May 9, 2008-The Massives won again, this time against the Baltimore Orioles. The O's struck first, scoring 3 runs in the 2nd, on RBI singles by Bryan Roberts, Melvin Mora, and Nick Markakis to put the Massives down 0-3. Griffin added a run for the Massives in the bottom half, on an RBI single. Johnson got that run back for the Orioles in the 3rd, on a solo homer. The Massives pulled ahead in the 3rd though, with a 2 RBI triple by Phillips, another RBI triple by Terry, a sac fly by Cruse, and a solo homer by Nishikawa to make it 6-4. Luke Scott cut the lead to one with a solo homer in the 5th to make it 6-5. Phillips jacked a homer in the 7th, scoring 2 runs and making it 8-5. Monarch notched the save without giving up a run, and the Massives locked in the win. We talked with the starting pitcher, Rick Thrower after the game. "I got the win today, but I was kinda upset that I gave up 5 runs. We still got the win though, and that's what we are here to do." Even though Thrower gave up those runs, his ERA is still at a stellar 1.42. Our next game is May 17th, against the White Sox, with Jason Ramirez starting. Until then, see ya!
