World Series - Florida Marlins (1-1) @ Kansas City Royals (1-1): Game 3
October 26, 2011

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals now have lead in this World Series with a win over the Marlins tonight. David DeJesus blasted a solo homer in the third to put the Royals up 1-0. Nick Johnson made it 2-0 in the fourth with his own solo shot, and Alex Gordon added another with an RBI double. Jeremy Hermida belted yet another homer in the fifth to make it 3-1, but the Royals came back with three of their own in the bottom of the inning. Felipe Lopez hit an RBI double, Billy Butler an RBI single, and Khalil Greene a sacrifice fly to make it 6-1. In the sixth, Dan Uggla hit an RBI double and Matt Holliday an RBI single to make it closer. Joakim Soria came in to close out the ninth, and gave up an RBI single to Mike Jacobs, but still shut the door on this win.

KANSAS CITY -- The World Series is evened up as the Royals lost a close one tonight. Both teams exchanged runs in the third as Hanley Ramirez and David DeJesus each hit RBI singles for their teams. Then the Marlins took the lead in the seventh as Victor Martinez belted a solo homer to right. Jeremy Hermida, who has been hot this series hit yet another home run in the ninth to give the Marlins a 3-1 lead and win over the Royals. Anibal Sanchez pitched a complete game to help get the win as well.

World Series - Florida Marlins (2-2) @ Kansas City Royals (2-2): Game 5
October 28, 2011

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals are one win away from a World Series title after a high scoring game today to finish off their season in Kansas City. Dan Uggla hit an RBI single in the first to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead, and Josh Willingham made it a 2-0 lead in the second with a solo home run. Then the Royals stormed back with four runs in the second. Alex Gordon hit an RBI double for the first run. Then Alfredo Amezaga committed a fielding error on a fly ball that would have scored the runner from third anyway with a sacrifice fly, but allowed the other runners to advance as well. Chris Conti then hit into a fielder's choice that brought home the go-ahead run, and Felipe Lopez added another with an RBI single. The Royals then added two more in the fourth as Felipe Lopez got another RBI on a double, and Nick Johnson hit an RBI single. Dan Uggla gave the Marlins two more runs in the fifth with a two-run shot to make it 6-4, but John Buck blasted a three-run shot in the bottom of the fifth to get those runs back and an extra. Dan Uggla then jacked another two-run shot in the seventh, and Josh Willingham hit an RBI single in the eighth to bring to a two-run game at 9-7. Khalil Greene got the Royals one more in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single. Joakim Soria closed it out in the ninth and the Royals will head back to Miama with a 3-2 series lead.

MIAMI -- FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1985, THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS OF BASEBALL! In an incredible season full of highs and lows, the Royals have come out on top in Major League Baseball as the best team of 2011. Game 6 was the final game of the World Series, and it all started in the first with two runs scored by the Royals on back-to-back RBI doubles by Nick Johnson and Khalil Greene. Matt Holliday drove in a run for the Marlins in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single. The Royals then added on three more in the second against Andrew Miller as Chris Conti hit an RBI double, and Felipe Lopez hit a two-run double. Chipper Jones added another for the Marlins in the third with an RBI double. Both teams exchanged runs in the fifth; Mark Teahen with an RBI single and Mike Jacobs a solo home run. Felipe Lopez belted a solo homer in the seventh, and John Buck a two-run shot in the eighth to make it 9-3. Despite it not being a save opportunity, Joakim Soria came into the game one last time for 2011, and ended the series on a ground ball out to Felipe Lopez at second.

Spring Training 2012

After winning the World Series last season, the Royals did their best to keep the same group of players together. The only loss they suffered was starting pitcher Brian Bannister. Bannister held the number four spot in the rotation last season, and will be taken by Anthony Ziegler. As for the number five spot; Ricky Dinas, DeWayne Basner, and John Finegan will battle it out for that spot in Spring Training. Chris Conti, after winning rookie of the year in 2011, will try his best to improve in Spring Training for an even better season in 2012. ALso, hoping to make the majors in the near future is 2009 first round draft pick Luke Umbria. While the Royals did resign John Buck in the offseason, he may be in the majors shortly.

Kansas City Royals - 2012

With pretty much the same team as in 2011, the Royals come into the 2012 season at the top of the baseball world, and they intend to stay there. Spring training this year was very productive for the Royals. After losing starting pitcher Brian Bannister to free agency, they had to decide on a new fifth starting pitcher. After a month of spring training, they have decided to promote Ricky Dinas to the starting rotation, and promote DeWayne Basner to the Major League roster for the entire season. He will be taking Dinas's role last season, making starts here and there. With so many young pitchers in the Royals system, they are sure to have a bright future ahead. The Royals hope to have a great 2012 and repetitive season.
