Jackson took care of that run in the second with a solo home run, tying the game at one. Nick Johnson gave the Royals the lead for good in the third with a two-run double. Chad Tracy provided the D'Backs with their final run in the fifth with an RBI single. The Royals scored once more in the sixth wit an RBI groundout by Billy Butler as the Royals win by two.

I guess no one, since I no longer have Jose Guillen. Do you want to be the agent for someone else?

Then there's no reason to change, even though agents these days are pretty much useless.

June in Review

The Royals had another decent month in June. They went 15-11 in the month and are now three games up on the Indians with an overall record of 48-34, the fourth best record in the majors. While the Royals pitching improved in June, allowing just 61 runs total, their offense took a dip, only scoring 97 runs. The offense they are getting is being led by first baseman Nick Johnson. At the moment, Johnson is posting a .287 batting average with 15 home runs and 58 RBI at the half way mark of the season. David DeJesus is also doing well with 97 hits and 35 stolen bases. Kelvim Escobar's dominance continues. While he did lose his first three games in June, he has a 1.60 ERA, and is tied for the lead in wins in the majors with 10, and second in strikeouts with 124. Also leading a pitching category is Joakim Soria with 23 saves, two more than Jonathan Broxton of the Los Angeles Dodgers. It's been a good first half so far, and the Royals hope to do more damage the second half and hopefully going into the postseason.

Kansas City Royals (49-34) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (36-47)
July 2, 1011

PHOENIX -- The Royals beat the Diamondbacks today thanks to the late inning heroics of Alex Gordon. This game was locked in a tight pitcher's duel all game. It was scoreless until the sixth when Eric Byrnes jacked a solo home run off Royals starter Brian Bannister. Luckily, the Royals managed to get a couple runners on base against the dominant Brandon Webb in the seventh, and John Buck cashed in with an RBI single to tie the game. This game remained tied 1-1 going into the ninth, and that was when the Royals started to get to Webb. Taking pitch after pitch, and making smart swings, the Royals got two on. Then, Alex Gordon came to bat, and jacked an opposite field three-run homer to send Webb to the showers. Soria came in and shut them down in the bottom of the inning and secure the win.

Richie Sexson blasted a two-run homer in the second to give the Mariners the lead early on. Nick Johnson brought the score within one in the fourth with a deep solo shot. Then the Royals bullpen ran into trouble in the eighth. Eric Chavez belted a solo home run that would send starter Ricky Dinas to the showers. But then after two got on, Adam Dunn blasted a three-run jack for a four run eighth inning. The Royals attempted a comeback against Bedard in the ninth with an RBI double by Nick Johnson and sacrifice fly by Khalil Greene, but it would not be enough.

Kyle Davies gave up RBI doubles to Gregg Zaun and Marco Scutaro to tie it, then got out of that inning. But that would not be the last we see of the Blue Jays as James Loney blasted a three-run homer in the sixth that would end Davies' day. David DeJesus provided one more for the Royals in the eighth with a solo shot to center, but they would still lose by two.

Oakland Athletics (45-46) @ Kansas City Royals (54-37)
July 11, 2011

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals beat the Athletics today thanks to some clutch hitting from their rookie right fielder. The Athletics got to Kelvim Escobar early on in the first inning. Vladimir Guerrero ripped an RBI triple, and was followed by a two-run homer by Jack Cust for three runs. Then the Royals came back in the second with an RBI single by Khalil Greene and two-run homer for Alex Gordon. Nick Johnson gave the Royals the lead in the third with an RBI double, but Jack Cust tied it again in the fourth with another home run. Alex Gordon un-tied it once more in the bottom of the inning with his own second homer of the game, a solo shot. This game remained 5-4 until the eighth when Jeff Fiorentino put the A's on top with a two-run homer. But in the bottom of the eighth, the Royals got back-to-back two out singles from Alex Gordon and John Buck, then rookie right fielder Chris Conti ripped a double in the gap to score both runners and give the Royals the lead. Soria gave up two base runners in the ninth, but managed to close it out with no further damage done.

Detroit Tigers (44-52) @ Kansas City Royals (58-38)
July 16, 2011

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals won today in a game that for most of the way seemed like history would be made against them. The Tigers scored a run early on in the first with an RBI single for Magglio Ordonez. That would be the only run of the game for a long time. A.J. Burnett, the starting pitcher for the Tigers was on his game today. So much so, that he took a perfect game into the ninth inning against the Royals. But with one out in the ninth, John Buck broke it up with a single up the middle. Two batters later, with two out, David DeJesus ripped one over the head of the Tigers center fielder. With Buck on the way to the plate, and DeJesus on his way to third, the Tigers shortstop threw to third to get DeJesus. Lucky for the Royals, Buck crossed the plate just before DeJesus was tagged out to end the inning, and the game went on. On to the tenth, with Lopez and Johnson on base, Billy Butler came to the plate, and blasted one deep to left-center and gone for a walk-off three-run homer to send the Royals on to the All-Star break in style.
