New York Yankees (17-16) @ Kansas City Royals (18-15)
May 6, 2011

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals beat the Yankees today in a close pitchers duel between Phil Hughes and Brian Bannister. John Buck, who has been hot recently, got the scoring started in the third with a solo home run just barely over the wall in left. Chris Conti got a bloop RBI single in the fifth for another run. Bannister's only mistakes came in the sixth inning when Jorge Posada hit an RBI double and Robinson Cano hit an RBI single to tie it up at two. Luckily, the Royals regained the lead in the bottom of that inning with a run on an RBI double by Billy Butler, which would be the deciding run in this game. Both pitchers pitched eight strong innings, but Bannister barely edged Hughes in this one.

May 11, 2011

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Royals won today with some good pitching from Kyle Davies and late inning runs. After a triple by David DeJesus on the first pitch of the game, Felipe Lopez grounded out to second base to bring home the first run. In the second inning, after a single by Justin Morneau, Delmon Young grounded one hard through the right side into right field. The ball slipped past Conti, Morneau scored from first to tie it, and Young ended up at second. Following the error, Great Kennedy singled to bring home Young and give the Twins a one-run lead. John Buck tied it up again in the fourth with a monster home run to straightaway center field. In the eighth, after another triple by David DeJesus, Felipe Lopez doubled over the head of center fielder Chris Denorfia for the go-ahead run. Khalil Greene added some breathing room in the ninth for Soria to get the save with a two-run homer to left field. Soria came on in the ninth and closed it out. KANSAS CITY -- The Royals won a tight seesaw game today to claim first place in the division over the White Sox. Meche appeared to have some struggles in the first. Jamey Carroll scored from third with a fielding error by second baseman Felipe Lopez. Meche luckily got out of that inning without any more damage done. Then the Royals unleashed off Chuck James in the bottom of the inning. Nick Johnson got a bases loaded RBI single to tie it. Then Billy Butler knocked in three more with a bases clearing double. All four runs were scored before an out was recorded in the inning. David DeJesus hit an RBI double in the fourth, and Nick Johnson crushed a solo shot in the fifth for a five run lead over the White Sox. Then, the White Sox began their comeback. In the seventh, Joe Crede hit an RBI single, and Nick Swisher jacked a three-run homer to bring the game within one. The Sox then took the lead in the eighth with back-to-back RBI singles by Juan Uribe and Toby Hall. When it appeared there was no hope left for the Royals in this one, Chris Conti hit one in the gap with two on to score both and give the Royals the lead. Joakim Soria closed it out in the ninth and the Royals won.

CLEVELAND -- The Royals defeated the Indians today with a close extra-innings victory. In the first inning, Travis Hafner blasted a solo shot to give the Indians a quick lead. Asdrubal Cabrera added to that lead in the third with his own solo shot. The Royals finally got to CC Sabathia in the fifth when Alex Gordon jacked a two-run shot to tie it up. And Billy Butler gave the Royals the lead in the sixth with an RBI single. Joakim Soria came in to close out the ninth. He got Hardy and Michaels easily, but with one out to go, Travis Hafner cranked another solo shot to tie the game up. This game went into extras. Luckily, it didn't take too long as the Royals reclaimed the lead with an RBI single off the bat of Felipe Lopez. Soria stayed out there for the tenth and instead of a save, earned the win.

He was immediately followed with a home run by Felipe Lopez on a full count to go back-to-back. Nick Swisher also went deep in the bottom of the first to get one of those runs back for the White Sox. Nick Johnson jacked the Royals' third solo homer in the third, but Nick Swisher tied it up in the bottom of the inning with a two-run bomb, his second homer of the game. Then the Royals began to separate themselves from the Sox in the fifth with three RBI singles, one each by Felipe Lopez, Mark Teahen, and Billy Butler. I'm really surprised at how well he's doing, even with his low power. I think it has a lot to do with his 3 trajectory. He has the perfect combination for bloop singles with his low contact, low power, and high trajectory.

No, I still have the file on my game. I just haven't played it in a while. I hadn't played Power Pros at all for a while until a couple of days ago when I went back to my Rockies season mode. It's really hard to go back and forth between two baseball video games, which I'm trying to do with MVP Baseball 2005 for GameCube and MLB Power Pros for Wii.

Whew, that's good to know. The season logs are slowly depleting on this site!

That seems to happen during the offseason. Don't worry, the attendance on this site as well as the number of season logs goes back up during the summer every year.
