Twins (15-7) @ Athletics (7-17)

Morneau, Pitching Come Through, Twins Sweep A's

OAKLAND-Justin Morneau hit a high shot down the left field foul line that just went fair for a two run home run in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie. That was all the Twins needed as Scott Blackburn pitched 7 strong innings and the 1-2 punch of Pat Neshek and Joe Nathan earned their day's pay as the Twins won, 3-1.

W: Blackburn (3-0)
L: Blanton (2-3)
S: Nathan (6)
MVP: Morneau
HR: Morneau (3)

MIN

Blackburn (W): 7 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 8 Ks
Morneau: 1-4, HR, 2 RBI
Neshek (H): IP, 0 R, 2 H, K

OAK

Blanton (L): 5 1/3 IP, 3 R, 2 Ks
F. Thomas: 2-3, R, K

Nathan is very pleased with the team's performance and the opportunities he's being given.

Stat update please, I'm sure all of us would love to see how our players are performing!

I'm going to play one more game against the Rangers a little later today, and then I'll give you a stat update. I promise it will be worth the wait.

Morneau is incredibly happy with his stats but wonders why Mauer is batting 2nd. He also approves of Doumit as a back up.

Nomo is EXTREMELY happy about his promotion and was wondering when Bonser would get the axe to the bullpen.

I'm glad Morneau and Nomo are satisfied. Mauer bats second because I need the high-power Morneau and Cuddyer to drive in runs in the 3 and 4 holes.
