Yeah, I was going to go for it. But I'm waiting to hear what Joe Blanton's agent says (Sjax).

It's a great deal, do it! Street was friends with Haren back when Haren was in Oakland, and he can't wait to see him again. Same with Byrnes.

I'll do it if I get to be the agent for Haren. Blanton would hate to be stuck at the back of the rotation when he's such a good player...

On a side note, (but having no effect on the game, technically), Oakland fans would love to see Haren back in an A's uniform.

Sorry, golf camp and all kept me from checking this. ;)

Agree with everyone above. That is a great trade, Hudson will play very well for your team, especially on defense.

Oakland Loses on Walkoff to Mariners
Street blows second game of the year

The A's lost a tough one today to the Seattle Mariners, losing 7-6 to them in walk off fashion thanks to Mariner Second Baseman Jose Lopez. Oakland started off the game with a 3 run first inning and Frank Thomas added two homers to the lead. Street came in with a three run lead in the top of the 9th to save the game for Paul Maholm, who had a marvelous performance going 7 2/3 innnings with only three earned runs. Street then proceded to only get one out and give up four runs to lose the game. This si his second blown save this year. Critics are saying Street has some rust due to the lack of oppertunites given to him. Street had this to say

Oakland Pulls off ANOTHER One
A's send Blanton, Denorfia, and Ellis to Arizona

Today the Oakland A's sent CF Chris Denorfia, 2B Mark Ellis, and SP Joe Blanton to the Arizona Diamondbacks for SP Dan Haren, 2B Orlando Hudson, and LF/CF Eric Byrnes. GM Scott Eagle said this deal was to improve his leadoff man as well as his defense. He also liked Haren so he recived him as well. Hudson and Brynes will take over the current vacant positions in the lineup, with Dan Haren taking over the number 5 spot in the rotation, bumping Rich Hill down to 6th. Eagle said this had nothing to due with Hill's performance, just that he was concerned about the 3 straight leftys in his rotation.

Sjax is now re-added to the agents list.

Oakland GM has Rave Reviews
Eagle has quickly won over fans, coutnerparts, and players

Some worried when Billy Beane left the Oakland franchise that the team was on the decline and was about to be a constant cellar dweller in the AL West. When the A's hired All-American 2B Yale grad Scott Eagle ot the GM spot, they were still concerned over where the franchise was headed. Then came April 2008. As the month starts to wrap up, Eagle has made Four blockbuster trades out of Six this month, receiving, among others, Jason Bay, Dan Haren, Paul Malholm, Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain, Kevin Youkillis, Orlando Hudson, and Eric Byrnes. Beane himself says that he is pleased with the Oakland GM, saying this
Billy Beane wrote:
This Kid has great stuff as a Front Office guy. He knows a lot about Baseball, knows how to make trades, and can run financal aspects as well.

Oakland Fans also like the trades. Here are some quotes from a the Oakland A's forums on the GM's trades

This Guy is AMAZING! I don't know how he pulled off that trade with the Red Sox!

This guy picked our pockets. Getting our two cheapest starters and giving us his overpriced ones. Hats off to you Scott Eagle. You are the Man.

STOMPERtheELEPHANT wrote:
Down here in the Bay we have a new saying. "In Eagle's wings we trust". I hate the fact we started off so bad. But Eagle saw that, picked 4 different teams pockets, and made us contenders.

Eagle said he's not done yet, and is keeping an eye on a particular deal with a couple of teams in the NL.

I have another trade I want to run by you guys, just seeing if you like it. I most likely will S/L with this one if I request it.

Oakland Athletics Get

David Wright 3B (8700 points)
Jose Reyes SS (5300 points)

New York Mets Get

Eric Chavez 3B (11100 points)
Bobby Crosby SS (4380 points)

I needed a shortstop upgrade, and since my Shortstop has absoultly NO trade value, I have to use someone else to get him. I chose Chavez. So I need a Thirdbaseman to even it out. This intrest level is two stars. I have a couple of back ups if need be, one with the Rockies and one with the Pirates, I'll run by those by you guys if you dont like it.

I like it. If you do it, I want to be Wright's agent and not Lester, but I'll keep Lester if you don't do it.
