Ten games over .500! We gonna see a streak ending season here?

Wow I hope so. I've noticed that my teams always does well in the 2nd year but this team is suprising me, I thought it'd take just the 3rd year to get to .500

But the playoffs might not be in the cards this year

Pirates Call Up Japanese Prospect Ikari

It did not take long but the Pirates have called up 3B Susumu Ikari from AAA and have sent struggling 3B Andy LaRoche to AAA. LaRoche had batted .205 with 5 homeruns so far and the Pirates want to give Ikari a chance to play 3rd base for the team as of now. Ikari will bat 8th in the lineup where LaRoche normally hits

And today Ikari made his debut going 1-5 against the Athletics

Florida Marlins(36-35) @ Pittsburgh Pirates(41-30)

The Pirates won their 4th straight today against one of the MLB's best in Josh Johnson. Ryan Doumit drove in the 1st run and Cedeno brought in Pittsburgh's 2nd run in the 5th, both with RBI singles off of Johnson. Kevin Hart was dominant tonite and kept the Marlins off the board until the 8th. Florida had 2nd and 3rd and 1 out in the 8th when a run came in but Pignattiello was able to retire Hanley Ramirez for an out and then Hanrahan came in to get Cantu to ground out to end the jam. But the Marlins had the same situation in the 9th but a ground ball was hit to Jones, he stepped on the bag but Ross didn't go home and Paulino tried to go to third so in the end a baserunning error cost the Marlins as the Pirates turned the 3-1 double play to end it.

Pittsburgh Pirates(42-32) @ Cincinnati Reds(34-40)

Continuing their 2 series against the NL in the middle of interleague play, the Pirates homered the Reds to a 7-1 loss. The homeruns began off of Micah Owings when Jones homered in the 1st to make it 1-0. But they would later pile it on with a homerun by Mike Fontenot, Ikari hit his first career homerun in the 2nd as well but Jones homered again in the 3rd to make it 6-0. Sanchez was dominant again and fired 6 2/3 innings of 1 run ball and struck out 9. The Pirates would tack on one more in the 6th as well to win 7-1.

Pittsburgh Pirates(44-35) @ Minnesota Twins(41-38)

The Pirates lost the rubber game of a 3 game series due to a big inning for the Twins. The Pirates led 3-1 going into the 5th but the Twins rallied for 5 runs thanks to a formidable offense capped by a 2 run single by Mauer who came into the game batting .354. Chuck James was able to go 8 innings giving up 3 runs and Pat Neshek was able to have a 1-2-3 ninth to end the game. This game was the last time that the Pirates would go to an American League park but they will host the Twins again for a 3 game series in early July. The Pirates will have a big 4 game series against the Cardinals up next.
