Seattle Mariners (15-9) @ New York Yankees (15-9)
April 27th, 2009.

Mariners win as Guerrero hits tenth homer of the year.

Mariners: 3
Yankees: 1

Win: F. Hernandez (3-1)
Save: Dickey (9)
Loss: Saipe (1-2)
HR: B. Abreu (6)
Guerrero (10)

New York -- The Yankees suffered a loss today, as rookie starter Saipe pitched just four and two thirds of an innings while giving up one run, a solo blast to the American League leader in homeruns, Vladimir Guerrero, to earn his second loss of the season. Bobby Abreu hit a homerun and was the lone form of the offence today, which mustered all of one run, and five hits against a red hot Felix Hernandez, who is coming off a complete game. LaTroy Hawkins wasn't too sharp lady either, as over two and a third, he surrendered two runs. As although the club was always within striking distance, they either left runners on base, or didn't have them in the first place. The Yankees go after Seattle tomorrow as they try to avoid the series loss, sending Chien-Ming Wang to the mound, he tossed seven scoreless innings to earn a win in his last start.

Felix Hernandez (7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 3 SO)
Vladimir Guerrero (2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI)

Saipe (4 & 2/3 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 2 SO)
Bobby Abreu (2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI)

Record: (19-9) (i have no clue how we're on such a hot streak)

1st: Seattle Mariners (19-9)
2nd: Oakland Athletics (17-11)
3rd: Los Angeles Angels (13-15)
4th: Texas Rangers: (11-17)

American League Players of the Month

POTM: Guerrero (SEA) (.411, 10 HR, 23 RBI)
ROTM: X
POTM: Marc (OAK) (4 W, 0 SV, 1.66 ERA, 63 SO)
RPOTM: Dickey (SEA) (2 W, 9 SV, 1.53 ERA, 22 SO)

This Marc guy is a beast! He was drafted by Oakland with b stamina, c control and has some good breaking balls while throwing real hard too.

National League Players of the Month

POTM: Jeter (ATL) (.398, 6 HR, 27 RBI)
ROTM: X
POTM: Hensley (SDP) (1 W, 7 SV, 1.06 ERA, 18 SO)
RPOTM: X

He was traded to the Atlanta Braves for John Smoltz last year, I highlighted that if you want to look back.

He's doing really good this year, I can't strikeout guys on powerful, but I can avoid the big hit and stuff like that, we're 19-9, but I don't want us to be "too" good.

Yeah.
I just sent an offer to the giants, and I want to stress right now that even of you're the agent of a player, doesn't mean that they're immune to trades, you can have first crack at the next guy if that happens, but I'm not keeping someone just cause you have them as your player.

I feel that you're saying that to prep EricDavis for the trade of Elijah Dukes or Zach Duke.

Seattle Mariners (19-9) @ Baltimore Orioles (13-15)
May 1st, 2009.

Seattle Mariners win as Duke "k's" season high.

Mariners: 7
Orioles: 5

Win: Duke (2-0)
Save: Dickey (10)
Loss: Bradford (0-3) (lol that's my actual name, i just go by Bradley cause its less formal.
HR: Beltre (8)
Fields (3)
R. Paulino (3)
Dukes "the jerky man" (1)

Baltimore -- The Orioles lost their third consecutive game, and this time it's to the Seattle Mariners, who currently have the best record in the majors after an abysmal 2008 campaign. Baltimore's pitcher Chad Bradford left in just the second inning after surrendering back-to-back-to-back homeruns to Adrian Beltre, Josh Fields, and then Ronny Paulino. Adam Jones had a bittersweet night as the rookie struckout three times during the game, but robbed Vladimir Guerrero of his 11th homerun of the season to cap off a poor night by him. Robert Allen Dickey shut the door for the Seattle Mariners as he pitched the ninth, walking one, but striking out two to finish off an impressive night by Zach Duke, who struck out 11 and gave up 3 earned runs to win the game. Oriole batters struck out a combined 14 times, more than 50 % of the time an out resulted in walking back to the dugout with heads hung low.

Chad Bradford (1 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 0 SO)
Aubrey Huff (1-3, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R)

Zach Duke (6 & 1/3 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 11 SO)
Ichiro Suzuki (3-3, 2 R, 2 BB)

Record: (20-11)

1st: Seattle Mariners (20-11)
2nd: Oakland Athletics (17-14)
3rd: Los Angeles (16-15)
4th: Texas Rangers (13-18)

Ichiro took home player of the week honours.

New York Yankees (16-15) @ Seattle Mariners (20-11)
May 4th, 2009.

Mariners win at home as "The King" strikes out a career high.

Mariners: 4
Yankees: 2

Win: F. Hernandez (4-1)
Save: X (dickey nearly blew it, as he gave up two runs in the ninth lol.)
Loss: Pavano (1-3)
HR: Damon (4)

Seattle -- At Safeco field, a new section of the bleachers has been completed. Dubbed "The Kings Court". Tickets there are half off when Felix Hernandez is pitching and for good reason too, as "The King" pitched a gem to his new court members, striking out 15 batters over 6 & 1/3 IP, accounting for more than 50% of the outs for the whole game, while only four outs weren't strikeouts while he was pitching, anyways lets get out of the stats column. The Mariners offence was bleaker than it usually was, scoring just four runs off of Yankees starter Carl Pavano, as Elijah Dukes was the only real leader of the offence, going 1-2 walking once and driving in two runs to cap off a very impressive outing by Felix Hernandez. Another new feature, well, item at Safeco Field is the new Elijaerky, which is $4.99 a pound, it tastes great, like Rick Monday's sweat Mr. Dukes himself claims, all proceeds go to the Elijah Duke foundation which provides Elijaerky to homeless children.

Felix Hernandez (6 & 1/3 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 15 SO)
Elijah Dukes (1-2, 2 RBI, 1 BB)

Carl Pavano (4 & 2/3 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 SO)
Johnny Damon (1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 SO)

Record: (21-14)

1st: Seattle Mariners (21-14)
2nd: Los Angeles Angels (19-16)
3rd: Oakland Athletics (18-17)
4th: Texas Rangers (14-21)

Seattle Mariners (21-14) @ Detroit Tigers (21-14)
May 9th, 2009.

Detroit continues hot streak, as Verlander blanks Seattle.

Tigers: 3
Mariners: 0

Win: Verlander (5-1)
Save: T. Jones (9)
Loss: Cook (2-2)
HR: Granderson (7)

Detroit -- Justin Verlander pitched an absolute gem today, as he blanked the Seattle Mariners and Aaron Cook with a solid 3-0 victory. However, the Tigers weren't always in complete control of the game, as the opposing starter, Aaron Cook was perhaps even better than Justin himself, as the stretch of great strikeout numbers by the Mariners pitchers continues, as Cook struckout a mariners season high sixteen batters, except he gave up three runs as the Seattle offence was all dry today. The Mariners left five runners on base, all of them in scoring position at one point, yet couldn't do anything with it, as Justin Verlander had a great day, striking out eleven batters enroute to his fifth win of the season.

Justin Verlander (8 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 11 SO)
Curtis Granderson (1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI)

Aaron Cook (8 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 16 SO)
Raul Ibanez (2-3, 1 SB, 1 BB)

Record: (22-16)

1st: Seattle Mariners (22-16)
2nd: Los Angeles Angels (21-17)
2nd: Oakland Athletics (21-17)
4th: Texas Rangers (16-22)

Mariners deal Lopez to Giants.

Seattle -- The Seattle Mariners have sent Jose Lopez to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for the bearded fellow Brian Wilson as well as 100 thousand dollars in cash. This move will help a struggling mariners bullpen, as the only solid pieces this year have been R.A. Dickey and Brian Fuentes, Wilson will take Lopez' spot on the roster. The shortstop had been benched due to Ronny Paulino taking over shortstop duties, another roster move was Scott Olsen coming up to take Andrew Millers rotation spot, he had been struggling in the majors and Scott hopes to redeem him. Ryan Dempster has also been optioned to AAA as a possible move may be coming for the struggling righty.

Aaron Cook is one strikeout better, lol. I'm a couple years early on the kings court part being a mariners fan myself, but I wanted that in there.
