End of August:

Luke Johnson won Rookie of the Month in the AL yet again, he also won Pitcher of the Month, he had 4 wins, 55 strikeouts and an ERA of 0 for the month. Talk about a great start to a career. In 15 games started he's pitched 10 complete games and 8 shutouts.

Yoshi won Rookie of the Month in the National League with a .365 average, 3 home runs and 19 RBIs.

The Superstars finished the year 100-62, 2nd in the MLB and first in the NL.

Season Ending Stats:

Kyoto absolutely dominate game 1 in 21-2 victory:

Braun belted a 2 run home run in the top of the first inning and things looked good for the Brewers as they took a 2-0 lead, but it didn't last. Pianta, former Superstars starter, was pitching against Matfey, who took his spot, it's no question who pitched better, Matfey pitched a 2 run complete game, and Pianta allowed 5 runs without getting an out, including a 3 run home run by Mario to give the Superstars the lead. Brewers relief pitching had absolutely no answer for the Superstars hitting as they just piled on the runs, Bowser alone hit 3 home runs. Even the Superstars starting pitcher, Matfey, was just a home run short of the cycle, and hit 2 triples.

The managers for both teams were interviewed, starting with the Superstars:

"It was just an amazing game, I'd say by the way we got into their bullpen we should have this series easily, 2 or 3 of their pitchers left with injuries, they're not going to be ready to come in and shut our offense down in the coming games. And the Brewers couldn't solve our pitching in game 1, I think things will stay that way."

The Brewers manager responded with anger:

"I really don't think you can count us out of this series yet. We have a great team that can really hit, just apparently not the knuckleball, and they only have one great knuckleballer, he can't win them the series. Our pitching will get back into it next game, the team just really wasn't motivated today when our starting pitcher gave up 5 runs on no outs, it won't happen again. We can come back into this series, definitely."

Superstars over Yankees. The Yankees are sooo annoying in season mode/MLB Life. Not only do they consistently win 100 games every year, but their players never seem to age so they keep it up for a full 10+ seasons.

Superstars walk off 8-7 in 11 inning thriller:

In a much closer game than the first, the Superstars would require heroics in the late innings to get the big win. Braun drove in the first run in the first inning, but the Superstars put up 4, including home runs by Luigi and Donkey Kong to go ahead 4-1 early. Prince Fielder's 3 run home run in the third tied it up, but the Superstars took a 1 run lead in the bottom half of the inning on a Donkey Kong home run. The Brewers tied it up in the fifth, and took the lead in the 7th, as Prince Fielder hit another home run and Braun scored later for insurance. The Brewers had the 7-5 lead and brought in Shy Guy to close out the game, the Superstars managed to rally back to tie things at 7, and keep it that way until the 11th inning, Bowser managed a single to erase his 0-5 performance to that point, another single would move him to second with 1 out. Daisy was up with a chance to win the game, they hit a weak single to center and Bowser was sent to the plate, the play at the plate was close, but Bowser managed to knock over the catcher and score the winning run. Donkey Kong had 2 home runs, both of which came on 3-0 counts.

"It was a good game, there were a few times I thought we couldn't possibly manage to win, but the team rallied back and pitched very well late in the game to prove me wrong."

Superstars finish off sweep with 5-4 victory:

All the runs in this game came off of home runs, and the Brewers had one more than the Superstars, but the Superstars had the runners on to make them count. Yoshi got on to begin the Superstars half of the 1st inning, Luigi managed a hit on the hit and run play that would have been a double play if the hit and run wasn't called. After Mario got himself out, Donkey Kong hit the 3 run home run to get them started. In the second inning, Yoshi would decide to swing for the fences and drive a 2 run home run after Diddy Kong got on with an infield single. Weeks, Braun, and Varitek all put up home runs for the Brewers who fought hard to come back, but ultimately came up short. Boo got the save, Diddy Kong pitched 7 innings, the first 4 without allowing a hit, Fireballer pitched 1 inning.

On the same day, the Yankees finished their sweep and the Indians avoided one by defeating the Blue Jays 22-5. Indians would tie the series up by winning the next game 18-0.

Playoff results:
Yankees over Athletics 3-0
Blue Jays over Indians 3-2
Superstars over Brewers 3-0
Rockies over Mets 3-2

This means that the Superstars will face off against the Rockies in the second round.

It's at this point where I would post the players playoff stats, but apparently there's no menu to display them...

Also, I must update this because I just noticed it looking through the menus, Luke Johnson, the Royals latest addition and amazing rookie sensation, pitched a perfect game on September 5th against the Indians. That guy really looks like he has a great career ahead of him. He also held the consecutive strikeout record with 10. Yoshi held the NL consecutive on base record by getting on base 68 times in a row.

Don't you mean you'll be playing the Rockies? They beat the Mets 3-2...

Yeah, my post says Rockies, look again. It's always said that. Ignore the edited notification on the bottom of that post, it means nothing.

Superstars come back to win game one 8-7 against the Rockies:

It looked bad for the Superstars when a misplayed double play ball lead to a 3 run home run putting the Superstars down by 2 whereas a solo home run would have only tied the game, but the Superstars hitters seem to love playing from behind, as they would eventually come up with a 3 run 9th to walk off with a win. Home runs by Luigi and Donkey Kong gave the Superstars a 3-1 lead early, but a run in the 6th and the 3 run, pinch-hit home run already mentioned in the 7th put the Superstars down a couple. They tied it in the bottom of the inning with a couple runs but couldn't find good relief pitching as Fireballer took over for Waluigi and gave up two runs in two innings of work to put the Superstars down by two. Boo started off the 9th with a pinch hit single in place of Waluigi, Yoshi managed a double to the opposite field to put runners on second and third, Luigi walked to load the bases, and with the bases loaded, the manager pinch-hit for Mario, putting in the unmotivated Hammer Bro, who still managed a double to tie up the game, Donkey Kong would get out without advancing anyone, Luigi stood at third still, with 1 out, looking to run home at any given moment. Bowser hit a hard ground ball that looked like it could have turned a double play, but the fielder hesitated before making a weak throw to the plate, which wasn't enough to get the sprinting Luigi out as he managed a quick slide under the tag to score the winning run, completing another amazing comeback win.

Diddy Kong shuts out the Rockies in a 5-0 win:

A rare occurrence, a Superstars starter pitched a complete game shutout in the win over the Rockies. In the bottom of the first, Yoshi used his amazing speed for an infield single which set Luigi up for a 2 run home run which would wind up being the winning runs. Mario would manage to drive in a third run in the third inning, giving a 3 run lead. The game stayed where it was for a while as both pitchers pitched great games. In the bottom of the 8th inning, however, Rockies starting pitcher, Kip Wells, was getting exhausted and the Superstars saw this and looked to put the game out of sight, Donkey Kong drove a weak pitch to straightaway center but it just wasn't far enough, as the center fielder made the play with one hand on the wall. Bowser then drove a pitch into the ground for his last out in an 0-4 performance. Peach took a walk with 2 out and Daisy worked a 3-0 count, it was back at full when they were given the perfect pitch, and drove it out for the 2 run home run which took the pressure off the Superstars starting pitcher, who was running on empty by the end of the game and it took a great diving play by Daisy to record the third out.

At the end of this game, Daisy's contact improved from a D (9), to a C (10).

The Yankees have won the first two games of their series against the Blue Jays, neither of which were close, and they have a 2-0 series lead, just like the Superstars.

Superstars setup sweep with 18-9 blowout:

This game wasn't exactly a pitcher's duel, as 6 runs were allowed in the first inning between both teams, Matfey's knuckleball wasn't working well. I'm not even going to begin to try to detail how all the runs scored this game, so I'll just give some highlights. The 5th inning was really what killed the Rockies as 8 runs came in to score, they walked Mario to load the bases with the big hitters, Donkey Kong and Bowser, up with two outs. Donkey Kong and Bowser both drew walks, so 3 straight walks forced in a couple runs. An infield hit by Peach drove in another run, and Daisy continued their recent hot streak by crushing a grand slam and clearing the bases. In the 7th inning, Bowser crushed a mistake pitch about 500 feet to straightaway center to end his recent bit of a slump. Matfey continued hitting well for a pitcher, he was 1-3 with a triple and 2 runs scored. Holliday was a home run away from the cycle for the Rockies and hit one off the wall in the 9th inning, he couldn't have been closer... Matfey got the win, pitching 5 innings allowing 6 runs, Condrey, in his first playoff appearance, got the save, pitching 4 innings allowing 3 runs. Yoshi was only 2-6 this game, far below the average he was hitting the rest of this playoff run, this can be attributed to poor motivation.

Matfey's control improved from a G to an F after the game.

Yankees won their game 3 by 9 runs as well, setting up another sweep, it's looking like this year's World Series matchup will be as predictable as the NBA.
