A couple days from the deadline, the Reapers have accepted another trade:

Reapers get:
Mitre (P)

Marlins get:
Villalba (C)

"Villalba was our regular backup catcher, but we do have another catcher in AAA who can do that job just about as well, our team has also been struggling with some inconsistencies in our pitching rotation, so we can try him out in one of the spots to see if he can perform at a good level, if not, he can still be a good reliever or minor league prospect. This trade, for the time being, is also a salary cut of 90 for our team, and it's always good to save money where you can."

The Reapers month was average, they are now the only AL West team with a record above .500, at 60-46, they are 8 games ahead of the Angels.

End of August notes:
Reapers Fireballer won Rookie of the Month, with a 0.39 ERA and 1 win, for some reason, the Relief Pitcher of the Month was not awarded.

August Financial Report:
Total Income: 11535
Total Expenses: 3038
This means a total gain of 8497 points for the Reapers, they are now at 146630.

Standings:
After a terrible August with a 10-18 record, there's a tight race for the AL West Division Championship, the Reapers still lead, but are only two games ahead of the Athletics, who have come out of nowhere.
The Penguins, at 61-73, have fallen to 5th in their division.
Overall, the Mets lead the Majors with an 85-49 record.
The Padres are at the bottom with a 52-82 record.

Team Leaders:
Duke's 3.48 ERA leads the team, as do his 14 wins, and 168 innings pitched.
Berger's .301 average leads the team.
Prochaska's 136 hits leads the team.
Barker's 15 home runs and 73 RBIs leads the team.

"The lead we had was a lot more comfortable last month, I can only hope the team will be able to put August behind them and be able to properly play their game in September, if they can do that, I have no doubt we can make the playoffs. Maybe some of our September call-ups can surprise us."

Even though it's not in the game, isn't the single-season RBI record 191 by Hack Wilson?

Yeah..

I thought that was a lot, but when I posted it I didn't know it was a new record. Good for him.

I think I'll edit in a poll for World Series champion predictions, but if you answer by post as well, if you're correct you get bragging rights and if you have any suggestions I may take them more seriously.

Why the hell does this poll keep screwing up? It keeps replacing Reapers and White Sox, at first with 'Yes' and 'No', then with 'Indians' and 'Yankees'

Now it put 18 options even though it says there's allowed to be 10 maximum.

I can't know for sure, but I think the voting may be screwed up as well, I don't think 11 people voted in such a short time without saying anything.

I figured it was something like that.

Well, if DarkShade can't fix it, I'll just have to take votes in person.

Game one of the ALDS is complete:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-oZ8Cci ... D4F6DFD26E

I'll write a summary later, I want to give people a chance to watch the game first, it's too easy to just skip over it then skim the summary. Games with videos may have shorter summaries, it really just depends on how much I feel like writing.

Indians defeat Reapers in Game 1:
Fausto Carmona was the star of the game, pitching a complete game for the Indians and getting the win. Jhonny Peralta had a home run and 3 RBIs to lead the offense.

"Our hitting really couldn't get anything done, but what really concerned me was the fielding. This game opened my eyes to how important good fielding really is, we gave up 4 runs good fielding could have prevented, then lost by 4. I bought an old glove for the team for practice, it has to help somehow, right?"

Reapers shortstop was questioned about this purchase:
"I always figured our general manager was cheap, but buying an old glove and expecting the whole team to practice with it? I'm starting to think he's going slightly insane as well."

Reporters didn't feel like bringing up the fact that the old glove cost more than a third of the teams yearly salary, and over 25 times the salary of their shortstop.

Does changing the fielding level for CPU effect both teams? I want to find a level that's realistic for playoffs, I find it a bit ridiculous for fielders not to dive on plays they could make in the playoffs.
