Forget the controversy there is a simple explanation to why Bonds is missing from this game and many others...

The reason Bonds is not and can not be in this game is due to the fact that Bonds himself gets to decide. Barry Bonds is the only pro baseball player in MLB to not be part of the MLBPA licensing agreement. He decided to fly solo because he thought it would be more lucrative for himself.

If video games want to use Bonds name and likeness they need to meet his monetary demands. I don't recall seeing him in any recent video game... They always use some fictitious character to fill in for him like "Joe Young." This is the same case with Michael Jordan. He isn't in every one of the older basketball video games created while he was still playing. He and several other NBA players obtained rights to their names and likeness so they get to decide what they are a part of.

So basically it's all monetary... If the game developers want to pay the big bucks to include people like Bonds and Jordan they can... but is it really worth it? Especially for Bonds, people will buy the game despite him being in it or not. I myself hate any omission but what can you do? Well the good thing for us is we can make him ourselves.
