LVB 7, PHI 3
The Phillies sent over a team of minor leaguers to play the Blackjacks at The Local Ballpark.
John Bradley pitched effectively for the first five innings, earning the win, and also knocking in the eventual winning run during a 5 run 4th.

Lance Derby homered and pitched a scoreless ninth.
Caselli, Towns, and Yokel pitched an inning apiece, and while clearly most of their value to the LVB is not on the mound, they helped eat up innings.

Today's lineup was
1. CASELLI
2. TOWNS
3. YOKEL
4. DERBY
5. BRADLEY
6. B. Davis
7. JJackson
8. Santos
9. Huxley

Hansuke Sawamura allowed 1 hit over 5 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win.

Dusty Yokel was 3 for 4, with a 2 run homer that put the Jacks ahead to stay.

Caselli 0 for 5
Bradley 0 for 4, 1 run scored
Derby 1 for 4

after the game, Alfonzo was in his office thinking about how his team would tackle a 162 game season with such a small roster. He did have the advantage that many of his position players were capable pitchers. But they were so young, he had to wonder if any of the starting pitchers would be able to throw 200 innings, and how much work that meant for the bullpen.
He was going to need some pitching help.

(Note) I meant to finish the last post with a request to you guys:
Please submit--by PM--a pitcher you have made in success mode that would compliment the Blackjacks nicely.
These players won't be subject to RPG situations.
My only guideline is that they not be MLB players.
So, fictitious would be preferred.
Also--and this isn't required--hopefully they can hit a tiny bit.
I'd also love to get some submissions of success players to put on the roster of the other expansion team, the LV Line drives.
Thx, D.

A day off from games.
The Jacks practiced hard that day, and were quite hungry afterwards.
The younger players had been imploring Alfonzo for many days to take them back to Fernandos taco truck.
They had been unable to find it again on their own, although it seemed like it was a short walk from the ballpark.
Alfonzo, himself feeling famished, acquiesced to their wishes and led them over to Fernandos, which they were shocked to find was directly adjacent to the ballpark parking lot.
They got there just a few minutes before he was going to close up for the day, and some items had sold out.

They surveyed the menu:
1. CHA CHA (sold out)
2. MANITO ( TOPSPD+2, CTRL+20)
3. EL TORO (STAM+15, CTRL+15)
4. ARRIBA (sold out)
5. todays special: EL TIANTE (TopSpd+1, STAM+25)

I want to keep rolling here, since today's my day off, and I've got the time to do it.
LGM and BBTEEN, you can still submit answers to my last post

As the guys were placing their orders, Estefania, Cassius, and Hansuke arrived along with El Duque.
"We heard you guys found some real food of the gods here," said Estefania, "mind if we join you?"
"Not at all," said John "jump in line with us"
Cassius and Hansuke both ordered an EL TIANTE.
Estefania got a MANITO.

After dinner, Alfonzo was on the phone with Sergey Brin, the Jacks owner.
The Stadium--which would be known as PanPaka park--was progressing at an astonishing rate.
That was mostly thanks to the amazing amount of money involved.
Carlos Slim had been unable to secure a stadium project in Monterey, Mexico; and had been persuaded to share a stadium/casino project with the Blackjacks that would benefit him to the tune of possibly a billion dollars annually.
In turn, the stadium was being constructed 24 hours a day, by the most expert stadium craftsmen in the world.
It would be ready for opening day, assured Brin.
"Yeah, about opening day", said Alfonzo, "I'm getting concerned about my roster. When my team played four games a week it was enough players. But now we are really going to be grinding, and we may not have enough gas in our pitching tank to make the finish line."
"Well, just call up some guys from the Golden Apples" said Brin.
"The who?"
"The Golden Apples, our AAA team" said Brin, "I sent you a fax of the roster a week ago. Take who you need."
The fax had been sitting on his desk without his paying it any mind.
He surveyed it.
His eyes got big. Two players really stood out.
He couldn't believe the numbers he was reading.
He was on the phone immediately.
...
"Uh-huh, I'll let em know skip"
Golden Apples manager Spuds O'Rida hung up the phone and headed out to the clubhouse.
"Quinn! Monterrey!", he yelled out, "need to see you guys in my office for a minute"
A few minutes later, Clovis Quinn and Salinas Monterrey were packing their bags for big league camp.

Well, how to do it?
Post uniforms here, and then we can vote on them I guess.
We still haven't voted on a Blackjacks uniform.
I never got any submissions for the Blackjacks uniforms.
I'll post a couple styles for both teams, you guys post your ideas for uniforms too, and we can vote it out.

KC 5, LVB 4

Two home runs from Cristobal Santos and five gritty innings from starter John Bradley were not enough to beat the reigning champs.
A misjudged screamer off the bat of Eric Hosmer proved to be the difference today.
With two outs and Lorenzo Cain at second, Hosmer hit a rocket at first baseman Lance Derby, whose first step was to his right. Unfortunately the ball careened to his left on the next bounce and Cain scored. Salvador Perez hit the following pitch high and deep into the night, and the royals led 3-2.
Las Vegas tied it at 4 in the top of the ninth, but a series of a squib, chopper, and a dink loaded the bases for KC with none out, then they hit the squibbiest chop of the day to win in walk off style.
