Stranglers Sweep Diamonbacks!

Another amazing game today. The Stranglers barely got by the Diamondbacks today. Paul McCartney was starting for the Stranglers, with Micah Owings going for Arizona.

Scranton lit up the scoreboard first, scoring three runs in the first three innings. Most of the offense was from Kennedy, getting an RBI single and and a double. That set up a Mick Jagger RBI single. George Harrison knocked Jagger in with a triple.

On the other side of things, Paul McCartney was doing pretty well. His only problem was he gave up a bunch of cheap hits.
"It's tough too give up five runs on hits that could easily be outs, but hey, that's baseball." McCartney said about his performance.

McCartney went 6.2 innings, and gave up three earned runs, two unearned runs while striking out five.

The contributers on offense for the Diamondbacks were, Justin Upton, who went 2-4 with 2 RBI. Conor Jackson also went 2-4 with 2 RBI. Chad Tracy went 2-4 with 1 RBI.

It was 5-3, Diamondbacks heading into the bottom of the eighth. Kennedy was already 3-3 with a single, a double, and a triple. If you have been following all season long you should know what happens next. Chris Kennedy hits a home run! He cut the lead to, 5-4!

But it wasn't over yet. The Stranglers still needed one run to tie and at least two to win. WildThing was brought in and he got a one two three inning.

The first two batters of the ninth inning got on. Richards first, then Harrison. Reginald McLeary pinch hit for WildThing and flied out to right. Pablo Sanchez then got on and the bases were loaded. Ringo popped out to the catcher. And then Chris Kennedy walks up to the plate. He worked the count to 2-2. He fouled off a few pitches. The next pitched he BLASTED OUT OF THE PARK FOR A WALK-OFF GRAND SLAM HOME RUN!!! The Stranglers move on! The storybook season continues!

Final Score
Stranglers: 8
D-Backs: 5
WP: WildThing
LP: E. Gonzales
MVP: Chris Kennedy

We face the Mets in the NLCS.

Player Update

They had already carried Kennedy off the field, partied like crazy, and broken the "no champagne" rule and the fans were long gone. Now it was time to take Kennedy to celebrate.

Mick: Alright man, time to hit the town!

Chris: Oh. Sorry guys I have to go out with my girlfriend.

Some of them were shocked and some of them were laughing so hard, they were in tears.

Brian: Yeah, okay. Enough joking, let's go.

Chris: Guys I'm dead serious.

Mick: Okay. Why don't we meet this girlfriend of yours?

John: Yeah make sure we "approve" of her.

Being the second youngest on the team it was like having 23 big brothers. A lot different then being the first of five.

They hopped in to the Kennedy mobile (this was Kennedy's totaled car that got knocked into place that was designed like the Batmobile).

Once they got there, there was a pretty girl waiting outside.

Richards whispered to Howard: How much you wanna bet he's payin' that girl so he can get out of celebrating with us?

Howard: 20 bucks.

Richards: It's on.

Kennedy: Hey. Sorry I'm late.

The girl: It's okay. What is the whole Scranton starting nine doing here?

Paul: We will ask the questions!

George: Let's start with, What's your name?

The girl: Lia.

Azul: Ha Ha Ha! What kind of silly american name is that?

Chris: It's actually pretty common.

Azul: If that's the case then I have no further respect for the people who name the baby girls in this country.

Mick: Anyway. How old are you? "Lia"

Lia: 23.

George: Alright that's it. Do you know that this poor kid is only 19? Getting his hopes up to make him think he can date girls out of his league? Cruel.

Chris: Is that supposed to be an insult?

Paul: Never mind. She should be dating cooler guys like me. How long have you two been dating?

Lia: Two weeks.

Brian: Where and when did you meet?

Chris: We've known each other since high school.

Mick: Where did you graduate from?

Lia: Harvard.

Pablo: I've heard of that school. Worst college in the country.

Paul: Pablo, Harvard is one of the best, most prestigous schools in the country.

Ryan: She seems alright. We'll have to do an internet search on her. And Sgt. Pepper will most likely have to chaperone your dates, but for now have fun.

Most of the guys were wondering how Kennedy got such a perfect girl and why had she gone for a boy when she could have a man.

Chris: Alright who wants to celebrate?

Lia: Sorry it's already 3:00 a.m. I gotta go.

Everyone else agreed.

Brian: Hey Chris, I know all the coolest clubs in Scranton.

There are cool clubs in Scranton? Oh fine. Let's go.

It was going to be a long, awkward night.

Stranglers Win as McCartney Pitches A Gem.

The Stranglers won today in a blowout. Johan Santana was going for the Mets and McCartney going for Scranton.

Paul McCartney was very close to perfect today. He was dealing against a very tough Mets lineup, going 9 innings, without giving up any runs, and striking out eight.
"Their lineup is amazing. Their first five hitters can tee-off on you any day of the week, but you have to just throw strikes and tell yourself, you've got nine guys behind you for a reason and just pitch" McCartney said.

As for the offense, you couldn't have gotten much better. Pablo Sanchez started it off with a double and Starr homered, getting barely out of right field. Johan Santana has been dreadful this year against Scranton. Today was not better. Scranton was pretty much a hitting machine today. First Pablo, then Ringo, then Kennedy, and Howard, then Jagger, and Lennon, then Richards, then Harrison, and even McCartney got an RBI single.

Scranton took a 6-0 lead with the help of Howard, Starr, and Sanchez homers. McCartney was dealing. He did not need any more runs, but of course he got them. Chris Kennedy hit a two run, 426 ft., blast in the eighth inning to make it 8-0.
"You guys should start calling us State Farm for all of the insurance runs we get." Said Kennedy. That got a big laugh from the reporters. "But seriously, McCartney, that dude has ice in his veins to shutout a powerful lineup and get a must win game for us."

Kennedy is absolutely right. The Stranglers now lead the NLCS 2-1 thanks to McCartney and State Farm (A.K.A. The Stranglers offense).

Stranglers Lose On A Walk-Off at Shea.

Today was definitely a tough loss for Scranton. They had played a perfect game and they still lost.

Gaddaba pitched great. The problem was John Maine also pitched great. By the fifth inning there was only one hit, and that was a Ringo Starr single. All that changed when Raul Gaddaba gave up a homer to Carlos Beltran to make it 1-0 Mets.

In the seventh inning it was still 1-0 Mets until Ryan Howard hit an opposite field blast. Mick Jagger singled and Lennon double down the left field line and Mick Jagger came in to give the Stranglers a 2-1 lead.

In the bottom half of the inning the Mets strung together a couple if singles and David Wright brought in a run. It was tied at two, and even though Gaddaba pitched great, Sgt. Pepper gave him the hook.

WildThing came in for the ninth with the game still tied at two. He got two outs, but there were runners on first and second. Just then, David Wright hit a bloop single to right, Harrison came up throwing, but it was too late. The Stranglers are now down in the series 3-2.

When asked about the sixth game in Scranton Sgt. Pepper had this to say, "They've got PD (Pedro Martinez) going in game six. PD's a big game pitcher. I've worked with him before. We've gotta step it up."
With Scranton facing elimination, hopefully they can.

How are they down 3-2 if you've only showed us 2 games?

Why did you double post that? And, one, I have a spinoff where some games go, and two, I don't have to post about every game.

The Stranglers Win! They Advance To Their First World Series!

And the crowd goes wild. They did just that today with the inconsistent Azul Abuela against John Maine.

The Stranglers wasted no time scoring today with Pablo Sanchez singling, stealing second, and advancing on a Ringo Starr sacrifice bunt. Chris Kennedy then flew out to Ryan Church in right, but it was plenty deep enough for Sanchez to tag up and score.

It took a few innings for the Mets to figure out Abuela. They were completely baffled by him the first time around, but once they got up in the fourth, they started hitting like the Mets again. David Wright got on with a hard hit single. Carlos Delgado crushed a hanging slider, and David Wright scored easily in gigantic Panpaka Park. Carlos Beltran has earned every bit of his huge contract in the NLCS and got yet another RBI. It was 2-1.

Ryan Howard led off the fifth inning with a mammoth shot off the casino in right-center. John Maine hung a change up and Howardd looked as if he was using an aluminum bat.
"I've been feeling great in October, but hitting that was the greatest I've felt all season." said Howard.

The Stranglers had tied it up, but it didn't stay like that for long. Azul Abuela seemed to take it easy on John Maine. Big Mistake! Jose Reyes hit a triple into the gap so even Jack Merluzzi could have scored from first. Fortunately, Abuela held them there.

After being shut down in the sixth, Scranton was still down 3-2. Ringo Starr led off the inning with a bunt for a base hit. Kennedy worked the count to 3-2 before hitting an opposite field, two run dinger to left. It was 4-3 Stranglers. By then Maine had gotten tired. After the game Mets manager Willie Randolph was questioned on whether he should have kept him in the game.
"He was pitching well. It was a combination of bad luck and a mistake, he said he was fine."

It didn't stop there. Two batters later, Keith Richards homered to make it 5-3.

After seven strong innings Abuela came out and WildThing came in. One, two, three.
"It was easy as ABC" said WildThing. "And it should have been because it was the seven, eight, and nine batters, you gotta get those guys out or you're in trouble." He threw al fastballs

In the bottom half of the inning, John Lennon hit a long home run to deep right. State Farm strikes again. It was 6-3

When Brian Wilson came in, it was still a save situation. It was also still a close game. Brian's season had been a roller coaster ride. Not just because he was up and down, but also because his pitching at times had made people want to throw up. First batter was none other than Jose Reyes. On a 2-2 pitch he lined out to Harrison in right. Luis Castillo was next. He made a swinging bunt on the first pitch. He almost beat out the throw, but Jagger fired a bullet to first. Two down. Wilson got two quick strikes, Wright worked the count to 3-2, before popping one up. Sanchez was under it all the way. The game was over! The Scranton Stranglers will now face the New York Yankees for the World Series!

Final Score
Stranglers: 6
Mets: 3
WP: Azul Abuela
LP: John Maine
Save: Brian Wilson
MVP: Chris Kennedy
