I really don't know why Fielder wants so little, but if thats what he wants, he signs.

Sheets signs as well.

In other news, Hideo Nomo got his contract with Konami. He plays for the Giants in the NPB now

A happy ending to the Nomo story :)

I agree to Fielder and Sheets' salaries. They'll both be on the team.

Bah, let Liriano sign for so little...

I would like to be the agent for the RF that replace Cuddyer.

Cuddyer's contract isn't up yet; he's stayin' on the team.

Harris wants a raise to at least 900 because he thought his season this year was very good. Braun on the other hand wants at least 2000 but does not want a multi year extension. He says he wants his team to commit to winning before he commits his next few years here, however he will give it another chance and will sign for another year or two, but prefers to go year by year for now.

Fair enough. I agree.

Just got off a conference call (read: PM) with sjax and Joe Nathan, and we have agreed on a salary for next year. Tomorrow, I'll finish up contract renewal and decide who's staying and who's going. If you have any interjections or suggestions, get them to me ASAP, either on this board or through PM.

I'm probably going to do a lot of trading next year. Seeing the insane deals I pulled off this year (Ben Sheets) I have a couple more ideas.

You could sign Craig Monroe and then just trade him again.

THE BENNY LEO SHOW

BB: Hi, I'm Benny Baseball, and welcome to the Benny Leo Show. Today, we're talking about free agents. Benny, tell me about pitching first. Pitching wasn't so great this year, was it?

BL: Thanks Benny, it's great to be here. Pitching was definitely not great this year, so we're looking at CC Sabathia. CC is coming off a pretty good year, so we hope that we can sign him so he can lead us to a similar success, along with midseason acquisition Ben Sheets.

BB: Good plan. But what about catching? Many people say that after Ryan Doumit, you don't have a solid backup. What's the plan there?

BL: We're hoping to acquire Jason LaRue. He is a solid defensive catcher who would work well in AAA.

BB: Let's switch gears to shortstop. Adam Everett is solid, but many think that you can trade him for a good starting pitcher post-free agency. Can you tell us more?

BL: Everybody knows that we want pitching. We want to acquire David Eckstein to play short. Everett—or even Eckstein—could be traded.

BB: I see. Now, during the season, one of your main criticisms was on the bench—or rather, not on the bench. After a failed midseason experiment to put Carlos Gomez on the bench, a move that many judge to be the beginning of the end for the Twins career of Jose Bautista, how do you go about finding a pinch runner?

BL: Good question. We think we have a good chance to acquire outfielder Endy Chavez. A few people in our front office and coaching staff—and even a few players—have worked with Endy, and from what I understand, he's a great pinch runner and defensive outfielder. I
hope we can acquire him.

BB: We're almost out of time, so I will finish right where we started: pitching, this time in the bullpen. After some close calls in contract renewals, namely Juan Rincon, many people are wondering if you are willing to acquire a bullpen arm. Benny, what's the plan?

BL: Well, we're not sure right now. We may be interested in signing an arm such as Shawn Chacon, but we're still figuring that out.

BB: On that note, we are out of time. Thank you, Benny.

BL: Thanks, Benny.

BB: Tune in next time for the Benny Leo Show. Have a good one, everybody.

He's a little too expensive to sign and then expect to trade him for the type of pitcher I'm looking for.
