SLAYERS NOTIFICATION

Anibal Sanchez will not start today's series finale against the Dinosaurs. J.P. Howell will make the spot start in his place. Let's hope he can help the Slayers avoid getting swept.

5-11-08

Sacramento Slayers 9 - Durham Dinosaurs 7

SUMMARY: The Slayers manage to avoid the sweep at the hands of the Dinosaurs. This was a very rare slugfest where both starters couldn't last more than 3 innings. The Slayers knocked out Dinosaurs starter Brad Lawrence with a 6-run first. However, the Dinosaurs scored 5 runs in the next 2 innings to even the score at 6. In the bottom of the 5th, with 2 outs, Mike Morse hit a ground ball to shortstop Patrick Thrower. Thrower misplayed the ball for an error, which scored Jose Bautista from second and gave the Slayers a 7-6 lead. They would tack on one more run in the inning to make it 8-6, and they would not look back from there. Brian Wilson worked out of a leadoff triple to notch his 13th save of the season.

UPCOMING SERIES

Sacramento Slayers (24-14) vs San Antonio Outlaws (24-14)

The Slayers face off against the Outlaws in a battle of first-place teams. This will certainly be an interesting series, and if one of these teams does poorly in this 4-game set, the most likely won't be in first place at the end of the series. Let's take a look at the Outlaws players we need to watch out for:

Zach Rodgers, C, #12, R/R, 27 years old
4 TRJ, C CON, B PWR, D RUN SPD, B ARM STR, B FLD, B E RES
GM REPORT: Rodgers is one of the premier catchers in the PGL. He was one of the catchers I tried to acquire, but failed. He is among the team leaders in nearly every offensive category, and is a superb defensive catcher as well. He crushes lefties, and is superb in the clutch.

Ethan Comsby, 3B, #6, L/R, 28 years old
3 TRJ, B CON, B PWR, C RUN SPD, B ARM STR, C FLD, D E RES
GM REPORT: Comsby is a guy who fits perfectly with Panpaka. He can split the gaps like nobody else can, and his superb baserunning allows him to easily take any extra base. As a result, Comsby leads the team in extra base hits, total bases, slugging percentage, and OPS. Comsby and Rodgers are absolutely deadly in the 2-3 spots, and are a huge reason why the Outlaws lead the NL Central.

Howard Butcher, P, #36, S/R, 29 years old
96 TOP SPD, B CTRL, A STAM, Lv. 2 2SFB, Lv. 5 CUT, Lv. 4 CCHG, Lv. 5 H-SNK, Lv. 4 SIFB
GM REPORT: Butcher definitely has the best stuff of all the Outlaws pitchers. He hasn't put everything together yet this season (4.85 ERA), but you can bet that ERA will go down. For a sinkerballer, he gets tons of strikeouts, though with the impatient Slayers offense, he'll use that sinker to get a bunch of groundouts. Butcher's strikeout pitch is the backdoor cutter, which has helped him rack up 62 Ks in 52 innings, good for a 10.7 K/9 rate. He starts Game 4 of the series, so at least we have time to prepare for him.

PROJECTED PITCHING MATCHUP:

Game 1: A. Sanchez (2-3, 3.86) vs. Linus Gilchrist (91 TOP SPD, E CTRL, B STAM, Lv 2 2SFB, Lv 3 SLD, Lv 2 PALM; 1-2, 8.64)
Game 2: S. Marcum (5-1, 3.92) vs. Gerald Webb (90 TOP SPD, C CTRL, B STAM, Lv 3 SLD, Lv 3 SLV, Lv 3 CHG; 1-4, 10.2)
Game 3: C.J. Wilson (4-0, 2.98) vs. Frank Pedersen (93 TOP SPD, B CTRL, A STAM, Lv 2 2SFB, Lv 4 KNCB, Lv 5 SNK; 5-2, 4.74)
Game 4: B. Morrow (0-1, 4.71) vs. H. Butcher (5-2, 4.85)

A strange observation: Minneapolis Flash #5 starter Curtis Deardorff is tied for the PGL lead in Wins, with 7. He has the Unlucky ability. Hmmmm.....

Frank Pederson is good. Also, I love this log it's one PF my favorites.

Also 2 questions

1) Is this on Wii or PS2?
2) Do any of the teams have success players?

Well Zero,
1. No, every player is edited. No Success Mode guys
2. I would think it's for the Wii but I'm not sure. Why does it matter?

1) PS2.
2) There's 4-5 players on the Whalers that are Success guys. They're somewhat useless, though Coquilette (if you read the series previews, you'd know who he is) is one of them.

The reason I wanted to know that was I need as many passwords as possible for PS2, because I am trying to make 30 teams using success or MLB Life players. So far I have 5 teams.

What? Why? How?

And PPJ, what are you gonna do if you meet the Dinos in the playoffs? :P

Depends on the scenario. Though expect to see a lot of "0-0, 3 BB" next to Gaspar's name. :P
