Draft 2009

The 2009 MLB Draft was held today, and the Royals made two good choices in the first two rounds. In the first round, they drafted twenty year old catcher Luke Umbria. Umbria is a decent hitter, but his specialty is fielding. He has great arm strength to throw out a runner trying to steal. Now in the second round, the Royals went a bit older, drafting twenty-seven year old John Finegan, a right-handed pitcher. Finegan can throw as fast as ninety-two miles per hour, and also features the rare knuckleball. Another good year in the draft for the Kansas City Royals.

Round One

Wow, you've had some really great drafts. I would have to S/L several times to get people that good.

Umbria reminds me of Choo Choo Train, one of my success guys. If you give Finegan a year to work on stamina, he might be a good starter. He's got the 'stuff.'

Teahen likes the colorful text. He also requested that I write this message in this color. *sigh*

I honestly don't know. Last season, I dominated with him, but since I changed CPU to lock-on 1, I can't use that drop curve as a strikeout pitch anymore, EVERYONE makes contact on that drop curve this season for some reason.

Kansas City Royals (33-39) @ Cincinnati Reds (47-25)
June 20, 2009

CINCINNATI -- The Royals won game two of this interleague series in Cincinnati with an epic comeback win against the Reds. This game was scoreless until the sixth inning when Adam Dunn belted a two-run double to make it 2-0 Reds. Then, in the eighth, the Royals got on the board with an RBI double by Ross Gload, but the Reds got that run back with a solo homer by Adam Dunn, and added another with a solo shot by Brandon Phillips to make it 4-1 Reds. Going to the ninth, it didn't seem the Royals had a chance. Lopez got out to start the inning, Teahen singled, and then Guillen made the second out. Following Guillen, Butler singled, Buck singled to score Teahen to make it 4-2 and move Butler over to third. Now with two outs, runners on the corners, and a two strike count to Gordon, he blasted a ball to deep center, and over the wall for a three-run shot to make it 5-4 Royals. Soria came in to close it out. He ran into some trouble allowing singles to Patterson and Freel with one out, but Buck threw out Freel trying to steal second, and Hatteberg grounded out to first to end the game.

SWISHALICIOUS! 4 homers!

But seriously, how did you give up four homers to the man formerly known as "Jolly Old St. Nick" but refused to be called that because he thought it implied chubbiness, Nick Swisher? He isn't much of a power hitter in this game.

Swisher is tough in this game. He just uses the Power Swing and hits for extra bases every time he makes contact.

I absolutely HATE playing the White Sox in this game. They all do power swing, and you can't throw anything even close to the strike zone to Swisher, Thome, Konerko, or Dye or they'll hit it out.
