Mariners lose in Zach Duke debut

Mariners: 3
Tigers: 7

Win: G. Roberts (2-0)
Save: X.
Loss: Duke (6-8)
HR: Granderson (22)

Tonight just wasn't the night for Zach Duke.

Facing a tough Detroit Tigers lineup, he went just 4 & 1/3, surrendering four runs on nine hits, he did strikeout 8 however. This was just the start of what appears to be a future, blossoming career with Seattle. His career shows promise, it's just that he was pitching with blue condition. Otherwise, the Mariners stayed in it until the eighth, when Curtis Granderson hit a three run blast to make it 7-3. Erasing the Mariner's chance at a comeback.

G. Roberts: (2 & 1/3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 3 K'S)
Edgar Renteria: (2-5, 1 2B, 2 R)

National League wins on homer by Jose Reyes

American League: 3
National League: 4

Win: Dempster
Save: B. Wagner
Loss: J.J. Putz (;-;)
HR: Griffey Jr.
Jose Reyes
A-Rod
Manny Ramirez
Albert Pujols

The midsummer classic ended with a different state of affairs then thought otherwise, as the National League triumphed over the American League on a game winning homerun in the top of the ninth by none other than the speedy Jose Reyes. However, it wasn't all him that won it. Ken Griffey Junior hit a clutch two run homerun off of CC Sabathia to tie the game up at 3 apiece. On the American League side, Manny Ramirez and Alex Rodriguez hit homeruns, but that wasn't enough to beat the opponent league.

All-Star Game MVP: Jose Reyes

Mariners win in complete game by Zach Duke.

Mariners: 2
Indians: 1

Win: Zach Duke (7-8)
Save: X
Loss: CC Sabathia (9-6)
HR: X

Zach Duke may be finally coming around to the American League, as he pitches a complete game with no walks, six hits, and a Mariners season high ten strikeouts. CC Sabathia was also on fire today, fanning fifteen in a losing effort, as the Seattle Mariners win in walk off fashion, with a Josh Fields sacrifice fly, a perfect end, to a perfect night.

Zach Duke: (9 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 10 K'S)
Josh Fields: (0-3, SF, 1 RBI)

CC Sabathia (8 & 1/3 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 15 K'S)
Grady Sizemore (1-4, 1 3B, 1 R)

Mariners win in 24 hit contest.

Mariners: 13
Rangers: 10

Win: J.J. Putz (3-5)
Save: X
Loss: J. Wright (4-2)
HR: Kinsler (15
Ichiro (8)
Beltre (13)
Fields (6)

The Mariners won a tight one, but it probably wouldn't look that way on the scoreboard. Seattle had a season high 24 hits, and scored 13 runs, largely led by Adrian Beltre, who went 4-6 with a double, a homer, and 4 RBI, a triple away from the cycle. Felix Hernandez was the starter today, but his 2008 season struggles continue, as he gave up six runs in a no-decision. The Rangers scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game up, where it remained a tie until Raul Ibanez hit a single to give the Mariners the lead, after that, they tacked on two more runs to give Putz the win.

J.J. Putz: (2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 K'S)
Adrian Beltre: (4-6, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI)

Phillies, what do you want bailey working on? Same with brewers. The king has a 3 splitter now and Raul's running speed is 12.

Mariners acquire stud pitchers in deal with Miami

The Seattle Mariners have acquired pitchers Josh Johnson, Scott Olsen, and Andrew Miller as well as 4.7 million dollars from the Miami Marlins in exchange for Jarrod Washburn and a 2056 40th round draft pick. The three starters will start in AAA and more than likely be called up to the majors next month, while R.A. Dickey will take over Washburns rotation spot.

Analyzing the Mariners trades this season

Scott Michael

Hi, I'm Scott Michael, and this is my first article on the Seattle Mariners. New general manager Prediction came in, and he had a plan, a plan to reduce payrolls, and trade aging veterans, or at least players with a higher payroll to other teams in an effort to lower the teams overall age, and their overall player salary. Currently, the Mariners player salary sits at roughly sixty-four million dollars, which is quite low for a team second in their division, they are largely led by players like Adrian Beltre and Zach Duke, who aren't payed the usual amount players that should be performing the way are get paid. Anyways, we know a few things, GM Prediction had to trade to get pieces like this, so weekly, I'll be analyzing the teams trades over the season, starting with their first deal.

Elijah Dukes heads to Seattle for Richie Sexson

This trade hasn't been fully figured out yet, as Elijah Dukes sits in AAA ball while Richie Sexson has hit 17 home runs for his new ball club since he's left Seattle, so far this sits in the Nationals favour as he has been giving them production out of the cleanup spot, however, this deal did reduce the payroll and hand the Mariners five million dollars, so we'll wait to see how this pans out, so far, I'll give the deal a 3/10 seeing as how Richie has given his team so much, but Elijah hasn't been up to show much of anything.

You'll discover that next game update. Every other game I post our record, and the division standings, I know we're like, ten games back, yet still second.

August 5th, 2008.

Mariners win in walkoff fashion, Dickey not ready for rotation.

Mariners: 7
Twins: 5

Win: Eveland (3-5)
Save: X
Loss: Guerrier (0-1)
HR: Ibanez (2) (17, 18)
Beltre (15)
Fields (7)

The Mariners win, but not in any usual style, in the bottom of the eleventh. Ichiro hit a single, Jose Lopez then grounded out to bring up the monster, Raul Ibanez, he proceeded to smack one into deep centre field for his second homer of the ball game, this one happened to win the game however, the game was very close, it being tied since the seventh when Eric O'Flaherty gave up three runs to tie it for Minnesota. It was all fun and games for the Mariners after Ibanez hit the winner, but they discovered that even with C stamina, R.A. Dickey was not ready to become a starter, he was optioned back down to AAA, and Scott Olsen came up to take his spot in the starting five as Dickey only went five innings.

J.J. Putz (3 & 2/3 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 2 K'S)
Raul Ibanez (2-5, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 R)

Livan Hernandez (6 IP, 5 R, 8 H, 0 K'S)
Joe Mauer (4-6, 1 RBI, 2 R)

Record: (53-60) (3rd)

1st: Angels (66-47) (.584)
2nd: Athletics (56-56) (.500)
3rd: Mariners (53-60) (.469)
4th: Rangers (43-71) (.377)

love the Washburn trade - you're stacking up starters like the Rays!

I'd say top spd for Bailey until he gets to 95-97, then switch until he gets to D ctrl.

Have Felix keep working on the Splitter, it's a filthy pitch in this game.

Now switch Raul to batting practice.

August 7th, 2008.

The 50 million dollar stamina spikes were purchased.

I have a spare 50 million dollars to spend, what equipment should I buy? We have the ten million dollar glove, and the 50 million dollar all-around bat.

(If your player was practicing contact or power, they are now practicing batting in general)

Okay brewers.
