McCann and Morrow Shine in First Game

New additions to the team, McCann and Morrow, were each excellent in their debut. Playing his first career game at third base didn't phase McCann as he belted homeruns through the thin air in his first two at bats with the pirates. But Olivo also fought hard to avoid losing his job by hitting a homer of his own, along with his first triple of the year. Morrow also was great, going six innings and allowing only two runs and striking out seven batters. Dickey didn't go today, but is expected to play in his first game within the next few days.

Astros Walk-Off on Pence Homer

The Pirates participated in another high scoring affair, although this time they were on the wrong end. The Astros scored two (unearned) runs in the first, followed by the Pirates scoring four in the second thanks to a belted shot by McCann. In the eighth, the Astros scored another two of their own due to an error by a Pittsburgh outfielder, causing the game to come within one. In the bottom of the ninth Capps allowed a lead-off single by Tomas Perez and was bunted over by the pitcher. On a 2-2 count, Hunter Pence jacked a ball into the left-field bleachers. If it had gone slightly right, it would have landed on the sloping field for a triple and the Pirates would have still had a chance. But instead, the Astros walk-off due to Capps first blown save in over a month.
