REDS(30-45) at YANKS(50-25)
Today was full of bad news for the Redlegs. This morning, they learned that the Weaver-Rolen trade fell through. But that wasn't the worst news. The worst was that they were playing the red hot Yankees at Yankee Stadium. At first, the Reds seemed to be on pace to win. Arroyo wa pitching a shutout, and Yankees ace Wang gave up an RBI double to Bruce. But, then, trouble started. Arroyo had a rare bad inning in the 6th, giving up 3 runs, including a 2 run shot for Abreu. Reliever Bill Bray also couldn't stop them either. He gave up 4 in the 8th. The Reds could do nothing to stop the Yanks, and ended up losing 9 to 2.

CIN 2 12 0
NYY 9 18 0

WP: Wang (6-5)
LP: Arroyo (5-3)
HR: Abreu (11)
Giambi (18)

MVP: Abreu (Winning RBI in 6th)

REDS at INDIANS
Note even the pouring rain could put out the Reds early spark of offense. Jay Bruce, filling a tired Phillips's leadoff spot, hit a home run off Indians starter Laffey. Then, in the 2nd,Ramon Hernandez hit a 3 run bomb, his 11th of the year. Then, it was the Indians turn to shine. First, an RBI in the third off Willis, and then a two run shot in the Fourth by Hafner, making it 4-3 Reds. However, a Renteria solo jack in the 5th, and a Votto RBI double in the 8th made them a bit more comfortable. In the 9th, Cordero loaded the bases, but only gave up one run, and picked up a save.

REDS: 6 12 0
INDIANS: 4 11 0

WP: Willis (4-7)
SV: Cordero (7)
LP: Laffey (1-6)
HR: Hafner (22)
Hernandez (11)
Renteria (8)
Bruce (10)

A suggestion: Put up the final score in the post and save my brain.

PIRATES (42-44) at REDS (38-49)
Now interleague play is over and it's time for some divisional action between the 5th place Reds and 4th place Pirates. All in all, this was a pretty average game to start off July. As usual, strikeouts leader and Cy Young candidate Bronson Arroyo, dominated, goin 7 2/3 innings with no runs, while the Reds could muster up 1 run off a Joey Votto double. Votto left the game after an awkward slide into third base, but test show that Votto is a-okay, and should be ready to take on the Nationals. Heath Bell went 1-2-3 in the 9th to easily save the game.

PIRATES: 0 7 0
REDS: 1 9 0

WP: Arroyo (7-3)
SV: Bell (1)
LP: Maholm (5-5)

MVP: Votto (Game Winning RBI)

Image
Maholm pitched well, but lack of run support was his downfall.

NATIONALS at REDS
Just when you think the Reds are on a roll, something like this happens. They jump out with a quick lead in the first, when Votto and Hernandez get RBIs off starter Lannan. Rookie starter Snare keeps the lead for 5 innings, but pitch count forces Heath Bell to enter the game. He pitches well for an inning, but in th 7th, Paul Lo Duca and Kearns combine for 3 RBIs, and take the lead for the rest of the game.

NATS 3 14 0
REDS 2 8 1

WP: Lannan 8-2
LP: Bell 5-3
MVP: LoDuca: Come from behind hit

Lo Duca scores off Kearns's hit

REDS (42-51) at CUBS (38-53)
The last place Cubs tried to gain some ground today, but instead showed everyone why they deserve to be in the cellar. Cueto started shakily, giving up RBI hits A. Ramirez and Soriano. The Reds struck back on newly acquired Jon Lackey with a Bruce Solo shot in the third, an RBI double by Votto in the fifth along with a Ribbie by Rolen made it 4-3 Reds. But they didn't stop there! Bruce hit two more dingers, which gave him a total of five RBIs to the game. Cueto and Phillips ech knocked in a run to make it 10-3 Reds. Relivers Bell and Cordero did a fine job holding the lead for a Reds victory.

REDS: 10 18 1
CUBS: 3 8 0

WP: Cueto: 7-3

LP: Lackey: 6-10
HR: Bruce: 13, 14, 15

MVP: Bruce (3 HR 5 RBIs)

NEWS: All-Star game up next!; Trade offer recieved from Royals: We get Ramon Ramirez, Great Miller, and Joakim Soria, they get AAA catcher G.Abreu.

Do the trade, I think it'll be great for our bullpen.

Stubbs pies Bruce in the face after the game.

IDK, because our salary is high, and I know not everyone on that trade's gonna get to play. I'm gonna try to get somebody else on our bullpen.

ALL-STAR GAME
The All-Star game started out as a pitcher's duel. Starter Bronson Arroyo shut down the batters in the first 2 innings, while the AL's Buehrle pitched 4 and gave up no runs. The AL then brought in Royals reliever Joakim Soria, who promptly gve up a RBI triple to the Giants' Dave Roberts, a sacrifice squeeze to Dodger Andruw Jones, and a solo shot to McCann. In the 6th, A-Rod knocked in fellow Yankee Jeter with a 2 Run shot, making it 3-2 NL. In the ninth, NL outfielder Hawpe hit a two run homer of Jose Valverde to take a 3 run lead. They needed it, because Chad Cordero gave up solo shots to Hafner and Ortiz, but still picked up a save.

NL 5 13 0
AL 4 12 0

WP: Randy Johnson
SV: Chad Cordero
LP: Joakim Soria
HR: A-rod, Hafner, Ortiz, McCann, Hawpe
MVP: Dave Roberts (First Run)

Randy Johnson is actually really good in simulated seasons on here. I picked him out of FA kind of as a joke, and he had the lowest ERA on my team, but then he retired. :(

METS (64-36) at REDS (43-57)
NEWS: Reds trade backup catcher Hanigan for Nationals relievers Chad Cordero (All Star) and Schroder.

Well, this game got out of hand from the start. In the first inning, David Wright knocked in a run to make it 1-0. Then, in the bottom of the first, Votto hit a two run blast off Pelfrey to take the lead, but it didn't last long. In the top of the 2nd, Leake absolutely broke down, and gave up 6 runs to make it 7-2 Mets. The Reds only mustered up 1 run in the 2nd. Chapman was brought in in the 3rd. When the radar read 105 today, fans cheered. They did not cheer, however, when he gave up 4 runs. Votto hit another solo homer in the third. Reds relievers Bray, C.Cordero, and Snare held them at 11, while a 9th inning rally made it 11-8 Mets.

METS 11 19 1
REDS 8 16 0
WP: Pelfrey 4-0
SV:
LP: Leake 5-9
HR: Votto 14,15
MVP: Church: Go ahead run.
Transaction: Reds get C.Cordero and Schroder fir Hanigan
