Nats bring in Big Star

The Nationals have reportedly signed star LF Carl Crawford to a 4-year deal, Crawford is the big captain outfielder that the Nats have been waiting for.

Nationals Refuse Trade Offer

Washington -- The Kansas City Royals, have reportedly, offered a trade to the Nationals offering RP Leo Nunez (96 DC 1SLD 1CHG) to the Washington Nationals for SP Homer Bailey (93 EB 22SFB 4DCB). Obviously, this trade was refused.

The Nationals also made a huge splash today by singing Japanese free agent, Kaz Nishikawa. Nishikawa is a catcher that has a very strong arm and some solid pop. He will most likely, get to start over Vance Wilson.

He wasn't listed in the Contract Renewal post, so I assumed Barton was your only option.

2009 Spring Training Game 1

The Nats tied the Reds today to open up spring training. Homer Bailey pitched 7 innings for the Nationals against his former team, allowing 2 runs, on 6 hits, striking out 10. Chris Sampson went 3 innings for the Reds giving up 2 hits. Ryan Zimmerman had a great game going 2-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Brandon Inge went 4-4 with a home run and 2 RBI for the Reds.

Washington -- The Nats lost this one thanks to their GM who jinxed this one. Matt Garza went 4 innings for the Nationals allowing 4 hits and struck out 7. Buddy Carlyle pitched 3 innings for Atlanta and allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, striking out 2. Brandon Moss went 2-4 for the Nationals with a solo homer. Jeff Fracouer went 2-4 with a homer and an RBI while scoring twice.
