After three long months of training, preparation, and a few cuts a the Whales here and there it was finally Opening Day for the Eagles. Just to their luck, they were going to play their rivals in the making; the Hawaii Whales. The whole baseball world has known far too much about Eagles and Whales. The Eagles being the humble, scouted players led by Hall of Famer, Owner, and GM Rev Davis. And the Whales, being the highly talented, "evil," ballplayers led by former Japanese legend Kensi Masahashi and a GM who is "he who is not to be named."
Before the game, Rev personally wanted to greet his team along with Dusty and his managerial staff.
Rev: Well, the day is finally here guys. The day where you guys show the baseball world and me what you guys are made of. It hasn't been an easy journey for you guys, but you have worked hard to get to this point and for that I'm proud of you. We may not have the big money contracts that that team on the other side has, but we have something they don't. Drive. The will. And heart. A word of advice for you guys. You're all making your MLB debuts today and I know you have some butterflies in your stomach. Maybe even some insecurtiy about your game. But once you get on that field I know you'll serve Las Vegas well. Now let's go out there and kick some A to the double S!
All: Yeah!
Dusty: One thing I've seen from you guys is loyalty. You all could have went over to the Whales for more money. You all had that opportunity. I know that when the Whales were establishing their team Rev wasn't the only one to call you up. You decided to join this team, and from the minute you all joined, we formed something. Not just a team, but a family. And this family is going to stick together. We're going to go through some adversity, tough decisions, and maybe even some heartbreak for you bachelors, but if you ever need help you know where to look.
Lupe: That's beautiful man.
Raymond: True 'dat.
After the two great speaches from Rev and Dusty, the team headed into the dugout, out of their warm-ups, game time jerseys on ready to play. Boo and Hiro were warming up in the bullpen in left field. Dan was taking sprints with Gordon. Willie was working on strengthening his arm with David and KiD CuDi. Some of the picthers were getting set to head on out the the left center bullpen where they would resign for the game.
20 minutes before the game, the Eagles P.A. announcer, Jeff Wasoutski, sent his booming voice throughout the stadium.
Jeff: Now ladies and gentlemen, please turn your attention to mound and let's welcome Pirates great and your Eagles Owner and GM, Rev Davis!
Rev walked to the mound from the Eagles dugout, recieving a welcoming ovation. Fans were even starting REV chant (sounds like RE - EV! RE - EV!) to honor their glorious GM/Owner.
Rev: Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming out to witness the first ever baseball game between our Eagles and the Hawaii Whales. Ever since I retired, I had been itching to get back into the game that I call my life. I loved this game and cared to much about it to let it go. At some point in my life, it became too much. I talked it over with my friends and my family. When I told them about my idea, they thought I was crazy. When I presented the idea to our commissioner, he thought I was nuts and wanted to kick me out of the office on the spot. Something was in the air that day, and he let me go through with it. From that day, I worked harder than I have in my life. I had to get staff in order to get staff. And with the help of many people, we created this stadium, we created an oppertunity for these players, we created a team. But most of all, we created a family. A family that I hope we can keep together for many many years. Thank you ladies and gentlemen!
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Kenny: What was that!
Gregory: Look!
Gregory pointed his fingers toward the mound. Rev was lying on the ground. He had been shot.
Willie: Somebody get help! Eagles come on!
All the Eagles, including staff members, coaches, and medics ran out to the mound to greet a passed out Rev, who was losing blood at a frightening rate.
Medic #1: GET HIM OUT OF HERE NOW!
Medic #2: CALL OUR BEST DOCTORS IN THE AREA!
Medic #3: THIS WAY THIS WAY! GO GO GO!
The whole Eagles team formed a barrier around the medics to ensure that their GM/Owner would be safe. While walking back Dan looked around the area to see what was going on. All of the Whales were running for cover, some going into the dugout, some leaving the field hopping over the bullpen out of the stadium. But there was only one thing that Dan noticed. He looked into the dugout of the Whales. He saw the smallest evilest grin out of the most hated person in that dugout. Sy.
This was no random attempt. This was a set-up. This was the assassination of Rev Davis.
