The Pirates won their final game of a 3 game set with the white sox. Chicago got an early boost from a 2 run homerun for Quentin but the Bucs were able to tag Contreras for 7 runs in 5 innings which would be enough. Ohlenedorf also struggled with control issues and walked 4. Meek had to get his first career save because Capps made it 7-4 after giving up 2 runs in the 9th. Capps ERA has climbed to 5.14.

Pirates win 7-4

Thanks to 3 homeruns. The Pirates were able to beat the Jays. Paul Maholm pitched a complete game with the only blemish being a 2 run homerun to Millar.

Ever heard of David Vs Goliath, well Kevin Hart just made a 2nd chapter to that. Kevin Hart pitched the game of his lifetime as he struck out 10 yankees hitters in 7 shutout innings. He was able to defeat the 8-1 CC Sabathia on the Pirates way to a 4-0 victory, this was likely one of the best pitching performance of the season for the Bucs as the Yankees had no extra base hits and noone had more than one hit on the Yankees. Nomo got a save as well but he came in to finish off minimal 8th inning damage, Nomo's spot is also in jepordy as he has an ERA over 6 and is an alarming 0-7 out of the pen and as a spot starter

Couldn't he just tell his client to look at the scoreboard for his stats?

James Shield was amazing today on the last day of interleague play. Shields threw a 3 hit shutout and struck out 7 Pirate's hitters. The only run of the game that the Rays scored was because of a ground out by Carlos Pena in the 3rd innings.

June in Review

There are ALOT of updates so bear with me

McCutchen, Maholm win monthly award
Paul Maholm and Andrew McCutchen continued to dazzle in June en route to a rookie of the month award for McCutchen and a pitcher of the month award for Paul Maholm. Maholm had a great month with a 5-0 record and a 1.77 ERA with McCutchen once again winning the award with a .350 average and 3 homeruns in June

McCutchen's Rookie of the Month trophy got eaten by his dog, a la Jonathan Papelbon

Hideo Nomo is thinking about retiring, he suggests to the GM to trade him for somebody good (maybe Jonathan Broxton? Fernando Cabrera? Anibal Sanchez?)

Scott Sorab STRONGLY, STRONGLY insists that you follow on Hideo Nomo's suggestion (he'll be gone after the season, anyway)

Cedeno is happy with his numbers, but wishes he could get the average up a bit.
Hart is happy with his 4-1 record but wishes he could lower that ERA

July 4- Bucs aquire Sanchez from Marlins

The Pirates have made a nice move and have traded right-handed pitch Hideo Nomo and Right Fielder Brandon Moss to the Marlins for right handed pitcher Anibal Sanchez. Sanchez had a 4.64 ERA with his short time with the Marlins and Nomo and Moss have underachieved as Moss has 2 homeruns and Nomo with a 6.45 ERA but the Marlins believe that Nomo who is a veteran presence can help the Marlins in the stretch while Moss was a put in to complete the deal. The Pirates were also in talks with the Red Sox for RHP Clay Buccholz but the talks were put down after the Red Sox wanted Matt Capps and Ryan Doumit. Ross Ohlendorf who has struggled mightily lately will be sent down to AAA Indianapolis to make room for Anibal Sanchez.

Pirates Get:
RHP Anibal Sanchez

Marlins get:
RHP Hideo Nomo
RF Brandon Moss
6000 Points

Also I will simulate to the all-star break to do updates there and something new

From the Pittsburgh Pirates, Zach Duke was chosen but a major suprise was also that Tyler Yates who is putting up a solid set-up year season is joining Duke
