Have them rest, then. I find that to be quite useful (especially for SP) if there's nothing else to work on

OPENING DAY

Andy was nervous about opening day because of how well the Padres will play. The Padres are a young team so you don't know how well they will play. All Andy knew was this was the beginning of his legacy as the GM for the San Diego Padres.

Game Recap: In the second inning with no score the catcher for the Padres Grandal hit a 2 RBI single. Then next inning in the 3rd Altuve for the Astros hit a RBI double. Later in the 5th Solarte hit a sacrifice to make the lead 3-1 Padres. Then in the 7th inning Ian Kennedy injured his right elbow after getting hit in the arm at the plate. In the 8th inning Seth Smith hit a RBI single to make the game 4-1 Padres which would be the final score as Kennedy got the win and Benoit got the save.

Venable 2-4
Alonso 2-4
Cabrera 1-4
Solarte 1-4 1 RBI
Smith 2-4 1 RBI
Almonte 0-4
Gyorko 2-3
Grandal 2-3 2 RBI
Kennedy 1-2
Vincent 0-1

Kennedy 1.35 ERA 6.2 IP W
Vincent 1.1 IP H
Benoit 1.0 IP S

So far the season is going okay for the Padres. Andy is working really hard to make a blockbuster trade for some hitters as through 7 games only 2 players have hit a homerun. This is what the past 6 games have looked like...

vs Astros L 3-4
vs Astros W 3-2
vs Astros W 6-4
vs Dodgers L 0-4
vs Dodgers L 1-6
vs Dodgers L 3-4

So far this year the Padres are 3-4 and are in last place and 1.5 GB of first place.

Today we play the Giants at AT&T Park. Andy was glad to announce that Kennedy has come back from an injury to pitch. With a 2 out rally in the 3rd with the bases loaded and 2 outs the struggling Everth Cabrera comes to the plate and gets robbed of a grand slam to end the inning. In the 4th inning Solarte got gunned at the plate. Then the next batter ends the inning while grounding into a double play. Then in the 5th Cabrera hits a RBI single to give the Padres a 1-0 lead. Then just after Solarte bloops one in to right to make it a 2-0 lead. The Giants tack on 1 in the fifth, but with 2 outs a runner tried to test Almonte’s arm and got gunned going to third. In the 8th inning after throwing 67 pitches and not tired Kennedy gets hurt for the second time this season. In the 10th inning Cabrera hits a RBI single to take the lead, but gets out going to third. And with runners on the corners with 2 outs for the Giants a hard hit ground ball… diving stop and Gyorko throws him out to end the game. Final score 3-2 Padres.

Andy was very proud of his team after this game after they have been struggling lately.

Who do you guys want me to trade for? I already sent a trade to the Tigers trying to get David Price.

So far Andy is happy with the results of the team so far as they aren't that far out of first place. So basically this is what the next games looked like...

@ Giants L 0-2
@ Giants L 3-4
@Dodgers L 2-3 F/20
@Dodgers L 0-8
@ Dodgers L 2-4
vs Rockies L 1-3
vs Rockies L 0-1 F/14
vs Rockies L 2-8
@ Diamondbacks W 4-3

After the long strand of loses Andy got yelled at by the owner and was looking to deal some of the worst hitters for good pitching.

Here we are away to the Diamondbacks here on Saturday night baseball. The starting pitcher for the Padres will be Stults. A single by Gyorko brings in the first run of the game in the 2nd inning. A homerun by the Diamondbacks in the 3rd gives them a 3-1 lead. In the 4th a hit by the Padres make it a 3-2 lead for the Dbacks. 2 homeruns in th 7th make it 5-2 Dbacks lead. And the Dbacks win giving the Padres another loss to there huge collection.
