12/14/2039

I had a missed call on my new cell phone that I had just bought after getting my new job as the Baltimore Orioles assistant GM. It said that the Orioles GM, Henry Powers, had just resigned and I was one of the top choices for new GM.

I was ecstatic after hearing this news and called up Tessa.

"Hey Tessa! I might be the new GM for the Orioles!"

"That's incredible John!"

"Yeah, so do you wanna go to Bull Run tonight to celebrate? I know it's your favorite steakhouse!"

"Sure, that sounds good to me!"

"Oh, and bring your parents, I want to talk to them."

"Ok." She said in an odd tone.

"Is everything okay?"

"Oh, yeah it's all good."

"Ok, bye Tess."

I went to the nearest Jewelry store and bought an engagement ring because I was going to propose to Tessa tonight. I had already talked to her father and asked him if I could marry Tessa, and he agreed.

"Hey Tess."

"Hey Johnny. How was your day?"

"It was great, I'm so happy about this job news."

"Yeah, so we're going to Bull Run?"

"Yes ma'am."

I drove her family and her to Bull Run Steakhouse. It was packed but I had reservations so we only had to wait 5 minutes.

"So John, you're going to be the new GM for the Orioles?" Mr. Monroe asked.

"Well, the owner said that I'm currently the top choice, but I still have to have my interview and all that junk."

"Well that's good. Have you heard what they're saying about the draft though?"

"What draft?"

"Mr. Farris is talking about resetting the teams and having a full out fantasy draft."

"What's the likelihood of that?"

"About 80% I'd say."

"Ahem" Tess cleared her throat.

"Oh yes. How was your day at the fitness center Tess?" I asked.

"It was good, I worked with a new guy named Aaron today. He's apparently rehabbing from a broken right femur. He pitches in college."

"Huh, that's cool." I answered making a mental note in my head.

We ate our dinner, I had a 32 oz. steak.

After I ate I talked to Tessa and her family for awhile. Then I went to Tessa got on a knee and showed her the ring.

"Tessa Monroe, I love you, will you marry me?"

"Oh yes John, I will marry you! I've been waiting for awhile to ask you and was wondering when you where!'

We scheduled the wedding and all that junk later. I was ready to start my new life.

"It has just been announced that the MLB will have a fantasy draft this year that is to be called 'The Dream Draft.' All contracts will be erased and all players will be put into a draft pool to draft among. The draft will take place on January 27th, 2040, and January 28th. All of the players and teams will get new chances to be great and to have great careers."

After watching this on Baseball Tonight, it seemed kind of a cool idea but it was weird. I got a call on my phone from the Orioles owner, Mr. Daniels. He told me to come to his office right away because he had good news.

I got to his office and he told me to take a seat.

"Mr. Hilton-"

"Please, call me John."

"Ok, well, John, you have been hired as the GM. You were our top choice and now we believe that you can bring this team in a positive direction in the upcoming 'Dream Draft.' You will be required to attend and to be in nice attire. Make wise picks please John! The future of our franchise depends on this draft!"

"I will Mr. Daniels, and thank you for bringing me aboard! I want to crush the Red Sox!"

"That's a great attitude! Good luck in the draft John!"

"Thanks Mr. Daniels!"

That dude hit .446? That other dude hit .421? That guy had a 0.27 ERA? THE RECORDS STAND NO CHANCE.

Did you just edit all the players on every team?

Upcoming Series vs. New York Yankees

Notable Players

SP Lucas Sweany 99 A: 225, A: 200 CUT: 6, DCB: 6, KN: 5
Fastball Life 4, Spin 4, Release 4, GD Low Pitch, Dr. K, GD Pickoff, Dhrability 4, Shuuto Spin, Gd Pace
Sweany is the Yankees ace. He has 3 excellent breaking balls and will likely be a huge pain in the butt for the Orioles to face.

RP Josh Kane 96 D: 129, E: 40 ORIG: 3, FOSH: 3
Release 4, Recovery 4
Kane is a great fireman for the Yankees. He gets a lot of holds and puts up a solid amount of strike outs. Kane will likely get plenty of relief innings in this series against the Orioles.

SP Alex Webb 96 D: 123, B: 133 CB: 4, FORK: 5
VS LH Batter 4, GD Low Pitch, GD Pickoff, Lucky, Durability 4, Sparkplug
Webb is a great 2-man for the Yankees. He has a great curve and a great forkball. He gets very lucky, and will likely put up 14+ wins. He will likely be starting the second game of this series.

RF Roi Konishi 3, E(7), B(149), D(9), B(13), F(5), E(6)
Firstball Hitter, Cannon Arm, Aggressive RUN
Konishi has a cannon in right field. He also has a big bat and will likely hit a homer or two in this series.

Projected Pitching Matchups
(Game 1) Miles Stratton vs. Lucas Sweany
(Game 2) Jason Mallett vs. Alex Webb

@philliesfan134 Actually, I just made some guy named Fruto's name Emilio because I remembered Emiliano Fruto. :P

Upcoming Series vs. Tampa Bay Rays (1-1)

Notable Players

CL Naomichi Hayashi 105 F(106) C(99) CUT: 4, SPLT: 4, ORIG: 4
w/RISP 4, VS LH Batter 4, Poise 4, Fastball Life 4, Spin 4, Recovery 4, GD Pickoff, Consistency 4
Hayashi is the Rays flame throwing closer. With 4 different types of fastballs, he is sure to make all batters guess. Especially with them all coming around the same speed. Hayashi hasn't pitched yet this season, but if he finds an opportunity against the Orioles, then they better be ready for the heat.

C Cal Cronus 3 A(15) A(255) A(15) A(15) A(15) A(15)
Clutch Hit 5, VS Lefty 5, Contact Hitter, Power Hitter, Spray Hitter, Push. Hitter, Hot Hitter, Tough Out, Bunt Master, Grt IF HTR, GD B2B HTR, Firstball HTR, Table. Setter, Bases Clearer, Walk-Off HTR, Rally Hitter, GD Pinch HTR, Refined, Throwing 4, Durability 4, Consistency 4, Stealing 4, Base Running 4, Gold Glover, Barehanded CTH, Cannon Arm, Pivot Man, Tough Runner, Trash Talk, GD Block, Grt Catcher, Sparkplug, Gd Morale, Aggressive STL, Aggressive RUN, Aggressive FLD
.333 0 4
Cronus is one of the few super players added to the MLB last year. He is an all-around beast and has no weakness which explains wining the AL MVP last season as a Mariner. Cronus will be a huge thorn in the side for the Orioles in this 3-game series.

2B Ryan Jenkins 2 E(7) E(89) C(11) D(9) B(12) B(12)
.125 0 0
Jenkins is a very good defensive player. He is a utility guy that can play many positions if the Rays need him to. Jenkins also has great speed that will let him steal many bases if he gets on.

LF Steven Reece 3 C(11) C(120) A(14) D(8) F(5) E(6)
Firstball HTR, Tough Runner
.333 0 0
Reece has incredible speed. The Orioles definitely need to focus on keeping him off the base paths in this series. That will be a tough thing to do as Reece does have great bat control. Reece is a defensive liability though, which will likely mean he will be subbed out later in the game if it is close.

PROJECTED PITCHING MATCHUPS
